Romain Gressot

12 p.m. - Ana's apartment

  • Waking up quite late.
  • A bit hangover but better mood compared to yesterday.

3 p.m. - Сойка напела café

  • Gemma got me an appointment with a friend of hers. He's name is Alexei. He is a linguist and speaks fluently french. Now, he teaches.
  • Gemma stayed at home, feeling a bit sick.
  • The following is things we talked about:
  • We start talking about what I want to do. I present my project, and my ambition to establish a bilateral agreement between a Russian and a French university. He tells me that it's difficult to find a real anthropology department, since this kind of research is quite new and would have been a competition for the USSR regime. There is a branch in the Higher School of Economics (witch Pavel is part of, if I'm whrite). But no social anthropology at the мгу, so no need to look for something there. But at the Moscow School of Social and Economic Science, their might be better chances. They have an anthropology program and they might be able to establish a bilateral agreement, since they are not directly affiliated to the Russian state, and not signatory of a letter that has circulated around universities, announcing that it was now uncanny to establish agreement with European universities (if I understood well).
  • Moscow School of Social and Economic Science is the university I should target for a bilateral agreement.
  • I should also look at the European university of Saint-Petersbourg.
  • VPNs are widely used to avoid net browsing restrictions. But they are more and more detected and dismantled.
  • Face recognition is widely used according to Alexei. They know where I go thanks to the cameras, in the streets, and in front of buildings entrance. So authorities know who lives where.
  • Students aren't called for serving in the army.
  • He sends me links to find apartments.
  • He explains that borders have been deleted on Yandex maps because of the conflict! Since it looks like borders are changing around Ukraine, they just removed all of the borders.

10 p.m. - Ana's apartment

  • I'm leaving Moscow in two hours. I just need vodka and I'm ready. My food bag is ready.
  • Lissa's mother writes that the summary of my research might be read by Stanislas Drobychevsky | Станислав Владимирович. But he is a biological anthropologist...

11.58 p.m. - Komcomolskaya train station

  • We arrived by taxi with Gemma. We wait a bit. The trains arrives. Im in the first wagon. There is a minor issue with my ticket. It will be resolved later. I put my luggage on my bed.
  • Sasha and Ana arrive. The train leaves in a few minutes. I say goodbye to everybody.

00.57 a.m. - In train Moscow-Blagovechtchensk

About to step in the train.
  • Trying to set up my bed properly. I lie on it. Even my intimate parts don't have enough room.
  • It's already starting to smell a little. Food? Feets? Deodorant? I'll compete. But the ventilation is efficient, so not smell stays for long.
  • I try to find a good position to sleep.
  • The train attendant asks for my passport and 200 roubles to make me a new ticket. I give it to her, and wait for her to come back before really sleeping.
  • Electrical socket, stock compartments, light.
  • Need to locate toilets, water, shower.
