Scottie Pippen Jr. Signs Two-Way Contract with Memphis Grizzlies, Looks to Carve His Own Path

Memphis, TN – April 19, 2025 – Scottie Pippen Jr., the son of NBA legend Scottie Pippen, is making strides in his professional career after signing a two-way contract with the Memphis Grizzlies earlier this season. The 24-year-old guard, who went undrafted in 2022, has been working diligently to prove he belongs in the league—not just as the son of a Hall of Famer, but as a standout player in his own right.

Pippen Jr., a 6'3' combo guard, played college basketball at Vanderbilt, where he averaged 20.4 points per game in his junior year, earning First-Team All-SEC honors. Despite going undrafted, he signed a two-way deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, spending time between the NBA and the G-League’s South Bay Lakers. His persistence paid off when the Grizzlies acquired him this season, offering him another opportunity to showcase his skills.

'I’ve always known the expectations that come with my last name,' Pippen Jr. said in a recent interview. 'But I’m focused on putting in the work every day to earn my spot. I’m grateful for the chance Memphis has given me.'

Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins praised Pippen Jr.’s work ethic and adaptability. 'Scottie brings energy, defensive intensity, and a scoring punch off the bench. He’s shown growth in his decision-making and has been a great fit for our system.'

While he’s still developing his game at the NBA level, Pippen Jr. has had flashes of brilliance, including a 19-point performance against the Oklahoma City Thunder earlier this season. His ability to attack the rim and improve his three-point shooting could make him a valuable rotation piece for Memphis moving forward.

As the Grizzlies push toward playoff contention, Pippen Jr. remains focused on proving he’s more than just a famous name—he’s an NBA player carving his own legacy.
