Scottie Pippen Jr. Signs with Memphis Grizzlies

Scottie Pippen Jr. Signs Two-Way Contract with Memphis Grizzlies, Continuing Family Legacy

Memphis, TN – June 25, 2024 – Scottie Pippen Jr., the son of NBA legend Scottie Pippen, has inked a new two-way contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, the team announced Tuesday. The deal allows the 23-year-old guard to split time between the Grizzlies and their NBA G League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle, as he looks to carve out his own path in the league.

Pippen Jr., who went undrafted in 2022 after a standout career at Vanderbilt, initially signed a two-way deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. After spending most of his rookie season developing in the G League, he joined the Grizzlies last season, showing flashes of potential as a reliable scorer and playmaker.

'Scottie has shown great growth and work ethic,' said Grizzlies General Manager Zach Kleiman. 'His ability to create shots and his basketball IQ make him a valuable asset as we continue to build depth.'

The young guard averaged 12.4 points and 3.1 assists per game for the Hustle last season while also appearing in 15 NBA games for Memphis. Now, with a renewed opportunity, Pippen Jr. aims to follow in the footsteps of his father, a six-time NBA champion and Hall of Famer.

'Having a last name like Pippen comes with expectations, but I’m focused on making my own mark,' Pippen Jr. said in a statement. 'I’m grateful for the chance to keep proving myself with the Grizzlies.'
