Former comedian and actor Russell Brand has unveiled a ambitious new mental health and addiction recovery program, The Freedom Foundation, aimed at providing free counseling and support for individuals struggling with substance abuse and emotional well-being. The announcement comes as Brand continues to face legal and public scrutiny over past allegations of misconduct.

Speaking at a press conference in London, Brand, 49, described the initiative as a 'transformative project' inspired by his own journey with addiction and recovery. 'This is about offering hope and practical help to those who feel trapped by their circumstances,' he said. 'No one should suffer in silence.'

The foundation, set to launch later this year, will offer online resources, community outreach programs, and partnerships with rehabilitation centers. Brand, who has been open about his past struggles with heroin addiction, emphasized a holistic approach, blending traditional therapy with alternative methods like meditation and creative arts.

However, the announcement has drawn mixed reactions. Supporters praise Brand for using his platform to address mental health crises, while critics question the timing, given the ongoing investigations into historical allegations against him. Last year, multiple women accused Brand of sexual assault and inappropriate behavior during the mid-2000s—claims he has repeatedly denied.
