Rock and roll fans were thrilled today as legendary guitarist Rick Derringer announced his first major tour in over a decade. The 76-year-old guitar virtuoso, best known for his hits like 'Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo' and his work with The McCoys, Johnny Winter, and Edgar Winter, revealed plans for a 20-city U.S. tour set to kick off this fall.

In an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone, Derringer shared his excitement: 'I’ve been away from the stage for too long, and the fire’s still burning. I’ve got new music, classic hits, and a killer band ready to bring the energy.'

The tour, titled 'Still Hoochie Koo: The Return of Rick Derringer,' will feature a mix of his solo material, deep cuts from his collaborations, and even a few unexpected covers. Fans can also expect special guest appearances from longtime friends in the industry, though names are being kept under wraps for now.

Derringer’s influence spans generations, with guitarists from Slash to Joe Bonamassa citing him as an inspiration. His fiery blues-rock licks and high-energy performances made him a staple of 70s rock, and his later work—including producing Weird Al Yankovic’s early albums—showcased his versatility.

Tickets go on sale next week, with pre-sales available for fan club members. Promoters warn that demand is expected to be high, as this could be Derringer’s final major tour.

'I’m not saying this is the end,' Derringer joked, 'but I’m not getting any younger. Let’s make it count!'
