So further we will take a closer look and test the Lydsto R1, after which we will express our own opinion whether it is worth buying this robot vacuum cleaner. So let's go!

Equipment

The first step is to check the Lydsto R1 package contents. In addition to the robot vacuum cleaner itself and the self-cleaning station, the kit includes:

1. Wet cleaning nozzle with pre-installed microfiber cloth.
2. Operating instructions in several languages, including Engish.
3. Six spare bags for the base, with another already installed inside the station.
4. Set of 30 disposable wet wipes.
5. Tool for cleaning the dust box and center brush.

This is the whole package. In fact, given the budget cost of the robot, you can give the manufacturers credit for so many spare consumables. But in my opinion, it would be better if they cut the number of bags and disposable wipes in half, but put at least one spare HEPA filter and a side brush in the box. And in any case, you will have to buy consumables after a few months of robot operation, which I recommend immediately and do when buying the robot itself.

Appearance

Now let's look at how the Lydsto R1 works. It is round and black in color. The plastic is glossy and very easily soiled. During the entire review, we had to constantly wipe the case to make the robot look presentable.

The mechanical bumper has 2 wall sensors on different sides and an obstacle detection sensor in the center, this is a plus.

The lidar is responsible for navigation, which is additionally equipped with a mechanical button that prevents it from getting stuck under furniture. There are 2 mechanical control buttons on the case: forced return to the base for charging and start / pause. The mechanical bumper has a fairly easy move.

The combined water and debris container can be removed from the back. On it we see terminals for docking with a self-cleaning station, as well as a shutter for emptying the dust collector. At the bottom there are 3 holes for water supply to the napkin.

The water tank has a capacity of 250 ml, while the dust container holds only 200 ml of dry waste. In the container we see a curtain that prevents accidental loss of debris when removing the dust container.

Filtration system based on mesh, foam and HEPA filters. It is also worth noting that a pump is installed inside the tank, respectively, the regulation of the water supply is electronic, this is a plus.

Let's see how the Lydsto R1 is structured from below. It has 4 fall protection sensors. One side brush, three-beam, screw-mounted. The central brush is bristly-petal. Disassembled on both sides for cleaning hair and wool. The brush module itself is floating, which allows you to better nestle on the surface during cleaning.

The napkin is attached to the nozzle by means of a groove and velcro. Throughout the area, the napkin is fluffy and made of sufficient quality.

Now let's look at the base itself. It is also in black, but the coating is less easily soiled, the plastic is matte. There is a compartment for storing excess cord, which is a plus. The hole for sucking out debris from the dust collector is located at the end. This speeds up the self-cleaning process and improves the quality of emptying the container.

There is a lid on top, under which the bag is located. It is easy to extract. Under it we see the engine vent, protected by a mesh filter. In general, the workmanship is average, which is obvious given the cost.

One small note: it is not clear where the included turbo brush cleaning tool should be stored. There is no room for it either at the station or in the dust collector. Not that it is just disastrously inconvenient, but it still raised questions.

The main characteristics of Xiaomi Lydsto R1 Robot Vacuum Cleaner, declared by the manufacturer:

Functionality

Now let's look at the functionality of Lydsto R1. It is important to note that this robot vacuum cleaner is controlled through Lydsto's own proprietary app. Surprisingly, this robot does not support Mi Home, although there is a Xiaomi prefix in the name. The instructions contain a QR code for downloading the application, but for some reason in my case it was not scanned. I had to manually download the application through the Market. Registration and installation went smoothly.

In the application, the robot builds an accurate map of the room, automatically zones it into rooms and stores it in memory. Let's look at the functions section first. In it you can:

1. Set up a cleaning schedule by choosing the days of the week, time, cleaning mode and desired rooms.
2. Manually operate the robot vacuum cleaner.
3. Adjust the volume and language of voice announcements. By the way, Lydsto R1 speaks Russian.
4. Include a double pass of the entire available area and an additional pass of the perimeter of the room after automatic cleaning.
5. Set the time when the robot should not bother you.
6. Share controls with other family members.
7. Activate the automatic power increase when driving on carpets.
8. Adjust the frequency of self-cleaning.
9. Study the instruction manual in electronic form.
10. View the cleaning log.
11. Track the status of consumables.
12. Change the name of the robot and update the firmware if necessary.

Let's go back to the main work panel. Here you can choose one of three cleaning modes: room, point or zone. In the room cleaning mode, you can select the desired rooms for cleaning and the sequence of their passage. In point mode, you can either direct the Lydsto R1 to the desired point on the map for local cleaning, or start local cleaning in the place where the robot is currently located. Well, in the zone cleaning mode, you can select on the map the zone where the robot vacuum cleaner should clean up. In addition, you can select the number of passes of the selected zone: one or two.

Let's switch to the mode of working with the card. Features such as setting virtual walls, general exclusion zones and exclusion zones only for wet cleaning mode are available. You can also edit the map by combining several rooms into one, dividing the room into zones and additionally choosing a name for each room.

There is a rather useful user mode in which you can set up an individual cleaning mode for each room by adjusting the suction power and the level of water supply. This is a significant plus for the Lydsto R1 compared to many peers. Well, in the section for working with maps, we see that the robot vacuum cleaner is able to save several cleaning cards in memory.

By the way, also on the main operating panel, you can adjust the suction power and the level of water supply to the napkin.

This is all the functionality of the application. Lydsto R1 is very pleased with its capabilities. It has all the advanced features. The only thing worth noting is that in the application some functions have been translated crookedly, which is a common problem for Chinese robots, and this model does not support Yandex.Alisa. But for many, this is not so important.

Testing

Let's move on to the more interesting part of the review - detailed testing of the Lydsto R1. First of all, let's check navigation in difficult conditions.

Navigation

First, the robot vacuum cleaner goes through the entire available area around the perimeter. The dried legs gave the robot some problems, but he was still able to go around them and continue cleaning. After the perimeter, Lydsto R1 proceeded to pass the entire available area in a snake. He was able to fit around 3 of the 4 chair legs and separately swept the box, after which he returned to base. The test passed successfully.

As for cleaning the entire area of ​​the house, the robot vacuum cleaner alternately passes room after room, first along the perimeter, and then with a snake. There are no uncleaned areas left, the cleaning speed is very high. There are no complaints about navigation. The test passed successfully.

But here one very important remark should be highlighted within the framework of this review. When driving, the robot vacuum cleaner began to emit a grinding noise. The sound is not very pleasant and occurs periodically. Roofing felts the scraper of the central brush module is strongly pressed to the floor, roofing felts the wheels squeak. In general, a strange sound that left a not very pleasant impression of the robot. Soon we will publish a video review and you yourself can hear the creak.

Suction power

The suction power is at the level of analogs, which have a declared power of 2500-2700 Pa. The Lydsto R1 was able to suck out debris from a 2 mm deep slot, which is enough for domestic conditions to keep the house clean.

Dry cleaning on laminate

The dry cleaning quality on the laminate is good. The robot vacuum cleaner was able to pick up the bulk of the debris from the floor. And this is not only small household waste, but also wool, hair, cat food and even filler. There is only a little debris left in the corners, from where almost all round robots on the market are not able to efficiently sweep.

But even in the corners it swept relatively well, better than many others. Most of the debris is collected in the dust collector, but wool and hair are tightly wrapped around the side brush. Another part of the hair was able to collect the central brush. I think the test passed successfully.

Cleaning the carpet

The same rubbish was scattered on the carpet. And Lydsto R1 did an excellent job with this task. All rubbish has been collected. The test passed successfully.

Wet cleaning

There are also no complaints about wet cleaning. The quality of wiping dirt off the laminate is at the level of premium analogues. There is only one strip left along the baseboard, but this is the weak point of all the robot vacuum cleaners that we have so far on our review.

Well, in general, even at an average level, the robot wets the floor well and evenly. With such an abundance of wetting, it will not damage wooden coatings, there are no stains on the floor after passes.

Passage of obstacles

Speaking of the robot's cross-country ability, the Lydsto R1 is able to cross sills up to 2 cm high. The obstacle cross-country ability is good.

Passage of dark surfaces

But the robot vacuum cleaner is afraid of dark coatings, like everyone else in the Xiaomi lineup. This is a minus.

Noise level

And finally, we measure the noise level of the Lydsto R1 in different modes. At minimum power, the noise level is in the range of 59-61 dB. In standard mode, it can reach 62 dB. In the mode, the powerful noise level reaches 68 dB, and at the maximum power the peak value was 69 dB. The noise level is quite standard for robotic vacuum cleaners.

Summing up

Lydsto R1 has been reviewed and tested in detail. 

What can I say about the Lydsto R1? The opinion about him was not unambiguous, but mostly positive. Everything in order. I'll start with the positives.

Here are some of the advantages we managed to find:

1. High level of navigation, including automatic room-to-room zoning and storage of multiple cleaning cards.
2. Self-cleaning at the base.
3. Simultaneous dry and wet cleaning.
4. Very low cost compared to counterparts with a self-cleaning base.
5. All advanced functionality in the application.
6. Automatic power increase on carpets.
7. Good dry and wet cleaning performance.
8. Good cross-country ability of the robot.

As for the disadvantages, I would like to highlight the following:

1. The robot vacuum cleaner is afraid of dark floors.
2. A small volume of the dust collector in the combined container, because of which the robot will have to self-clean several times during the cleaning process on large areas.
3. Lydsto R1 does not support Mi Home, which is very strange.
4. Well, and the most important thing - during testing, the robot vacuum cleaner began to make strange sounds.

These are just the first two shortcomings that are not very significant and for many will not be at all important. As for the support for Mi Home, I think that soon the manufacturers will add such an opportunity. At least I really hope so. But the appearance of squeaks after a few days of operation is already a more important remark, which casts doubt on the recommendation of this robot.

Perhaps the problem is only with my device, sometimes it happens. But still knowing that the robot is very budgetary, one gets the impression that the manufacturer could save a lot on spare parts and, as a result, the reliability is less than that of more expensive counterparts. But in any case, this does not affect the quality of cleaning in any way, and it is possible that after a while something will get in there and the creak will disappear.

As a result, Lydsto R1 is quite an interesting option with a budget of no more than 30 thousand rubles, and we can say that even one of the best. But if the basis for self-cleaning is not so important for you, I advise you to additionally pay attention to analogs that will not be inferior in functionality and navigation, but are clearly better in assembly. Or another option is to take a closer look at more expensive self-cleaning robots, to which there are no complaints. 

In any case, the final decision is only yours, and Lydsto R1 itself has left a positive impression of itself in most parameters.
