► The King of Fighters (KOF) is a series of fighting games by SNK that began with the release of The King of Fighters ’94 in 1994. The series was developed originally for SNK’s Neo Geo MVS arcade hardware. This served as the main platform for the series until 2004 when SNK retired it in favor of the Atomiswave arcade board. Two King of Fighters games were produced for the Atomiswave platform ( The King of Fighters Neowave and The King of Fighters XI ) before SNK decided to discontinue using it for the series. The series’ most recent arcade hardware is the Taito Type X2 , first used with the release of The King of Fighters XII . Ports of the arcade games and the original The King of Fighters games have been released for several video game consoles. The latest entry in the series, The King of Fighters XIV , was released for PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows in 2016. The next game, The King of Fighters XV , is set to be released sometime in 2021.

This fan-made MUGEN creation dumps together scads of 2D female fighters and strips some of them of their undergarments.

Sporting some 100 characters, this MUGEN title gives you a loosey-goosey brawlfest between the most popular female fighters up to about 2005 or so. Though some of the roster consists of clone versions of the same character, rendered into differing states of undress for the discerning palate (would monsieur prefer his Sailor Moon fully disrobed or simply without panties?)
The game pretty much just throws together characters that were floating around in the MUGEN-o-sphere, tied together with some fairly simple modes of play (arcade, survival and team fights along with multiplayer). The arcade mode gives you 10 random matches culminating in a boss battle with Dark Sakura (who fires missiles at you and explodes when KO’d), defeat that challenge and you get a very basic CONGRATURATION screen and that’s it.
So, as is fairly standard with MUGEN, don’t expect much balance or polish. There are eight difficulty settings, but they don’t appear to matter much – the computer tends to be all over your ass constantly like an early SNK fighter cranked up to the highest difficulty by a merciless arcade owner. The toughest match I ever had was actually while the game was set to the easiest difficulty! I did manage to beat the Arcade mode one time, but the difficulty really varies heavily by character.
Speaking of characters, they are mostly scaled appropriately but there are some weird exceptions like the gigantic Art of Fighting characters. No real explanation for that one other than Daniel from Argentina maybe got tired of editing the game after a while and just gave up.
I guess we should discuss the Hornt content at some point too. It’s pretty much limited to nude sprites, both on certain playable characters and all over the stage backgrounds (which are often kinda colorful and creative). There don’t appear to be any CGs or anything like that, nor is there any “action” on the actual playfield. There is a tiny handful of male or monster characters you can choose (only about three) that have some pervy regular and grab moves, but that appears to be it. The slime guy is actually one of the best to learn the game with as his lewd grapples steal back some health.
Also on the subject of hornt content, nothing gross or weird to report, but it does have nude Roll as an option – ew. Since that’s the only legally iffy character I noticed, I don’t think that’s a reflection of the creator’s proclivities so much as this was created when Marvel vs Capcom 2 was still on top of the world and that game’s whole female roster just got dumped in.
So in the end, this really isn’t as good of an H game as it is a super hardcore Gals Fighter alternative that just happens to have gratuitous nudity (and occasional fingerblasting by Han Chan Man). As MUGEN games go nothing but the sprite editing and background creation is standout, but it’s competent enough in the fighting action aside from the occasional appearance of random giant characters.
