As most people know, being famous can have its perks. With all the glitz, glamor and notoriety attached, you can easily forget who you are, what you believe in and what morals you have in an instant. Of course, this doesn’t have to be the case in some instances. Some people were just born to party, drink the night away and just let loose. One thing is for certain, whichever side you choose, whether you’re a party animal or whether you like to think about your future a little more, this article has nothing to do with that. Instead, I’m here to write about the select few who persevered and resisted all the temptation, sacrificed all the “golden opportunities”, dealt with severe and at times excruciating frustration all to have the honor and privilege of having the right to call themselves 100%, pure grade A virgins. Say what you will about this intro being a bit extra, but hey, you can’t say I’m not unique, right?
For this article, I’ve included some celebrities who waited until they were married to lose their virginity, so when you see someone on this list who you know for a fact is no longer a virgin, just remember… it’s because they’re married. OK, now that we got that out of the way, let’s get to it.
US Olympian Lolo Jones has had quite the career. Apart from being a decorated athlete in college, she has managed to achieve success as a pro in both track & field and as a bobsledder. One thing that stands out about Jones is the fact that she takes religion and Christianity very seriously. So much so that Jones is said to have sworn off sex until marriage. In 2013, during an interview with HBO Sports, she admits that it’s not the easiest thing to do and that it makes finding someone to date a bit more difficult. Despite this, Jones doesn’t want anyone to think she can’t be a fun and interesting person. During that same interview, she explains “just because I’m a virgin doesn’t mean I can’t be light hearted about it. I don’t have to be the nun in the room.” Well, she’s managed to hold it off for thirty plus years, so to all her detractors who think she can’t do it, take that.
Tim Tebow has not only achieved success by playing professional Football, but you can count pro Baseball to his resume as well, as he currently plays for the New York Mets. With all this success, it wouldn’t be hard for someone to think his success with the ladies is outstanding. Well, the truth is he probably would be if he was trying. Instead, Tebow insists on waiting to put a ring someone’s finger before anything else and for that very reason, he has gained quite a bit respect and let me just say, he sure as heck deserves it. I’m sure I speak for most guys when I say that Tim Tebow, at least in this case, is not like most guys. Not because all of us are only interested in one thing and we’re all shallow, but because… well, are you serious?
Coming in at number 13, we have one of the greatest singers ever to compete on American Idol . ladies and gentlemen, the one, the only, Carrie Underwood. Although marriage obviously changed it, Underwood remained pure, clean and more important than all that, a virgin until then. Speaking of which, on a side note, if you’re wondering, she is now happily married to NHL Hockey player Mike Fisher. He is admired by many and (due to his marriage with Underwood) secretly hated by most. Anyway, judging by the amount of fame and notoriety she has gotten over the years, I’d say Mrs. Underwood has proven that despite being a star you don’t have to forget who you are.
Television Personality, Sean Lowe may have had sex before marriage, but he turned things around real quick, real fast. Well, I guess if you think 5 or 6 years is quick. Nonetheless he did and I couldn’t say the same for most and yes, that includes me. He has been quoted as saying, “I just reached a point where I thought, ‘I know Jesus is in my heart and I know how I’m supposed to live, but for the past five or six years, I’ve just decided to ignore it, and something’s got to change.'” Say what you want about reality TV personalities and how they’re famous for no reason. Say what you want about reality TV being totally pointless, mediocre at best and at times, downright asinine. But at least give Lowe some credit. On a side note, you have to admit reality TV isn’t too bad. If it were producers and company probably wouldn’t be taking the time to create new shows, because you wouldn’t be watching them and at the end of the day, your viewership is the most important thing, man.
Chelsie Hightower first danced her way into our very hearts on the 8th season of hit TV show, So You Think You Can Dance . The talented 28 years old from Las Vegas, Nevada has been quoted as saying, “I am a virgin, I don’t drink, and I don’t do drugs. There are always temptations, and they come in different ways, but this is really who I am. Nothing or anyone affects how I live my life. It’s not that hard… I definitely know who I am. .. I don’t care what anyone says.”
Next up on our list is none other than Venus Williams (and if you don’t know who this woman is, then you have been living under a rock for a very long time). Venus Williams, like her little sister, tennis star Serena, is a Jehovah’s Witness, so that makes finding someone faithful just a bit harder. Luckily though, she apparently has since it’s been reported that she’s been dating Model Elio Pis. Some say they are now married. Some say they’re still just dating. And others say the sky is red.
Well, let’s address the elephant in the room: Bella Thorne is quite young and therefore, it is expected for her to still be a virgin, so that it may rub off on her young fans and she can go down in history as one of the greatest role models of her generation. OK, although none of this is a requirement, it probably is happening. Despite being only 19, the young starlet has done some pretty amazing things in nearly 2 decades of existence. This includes winning multiple awards, starring in TV Shows and feature films, being the voice of one of my favorite bad a** Marvel characters of all time, Tigra, etc, etc. With Thorne being so young, one could only imagine where she goes from here.
Two and a Half Men will probably go down in history as one of the greatest TV shows/ sitcoms of all time. Just the theme alone is enough to get you intrigued to watch the rest of an episode. Now on to the real question that you’re dying to know. Why am I bringing this show up, you ask? Because one of the lead roles in this show was played by a person I’m writing about in this very entry. His name is none other than Angus T. Jones, of course. While that may or may not be ant- climactic enough for you, I know something that will undoubtedly surprise you. Jones is a virgin. At least he was in the year 2012. Wait, what’s that? You say you weren’t surprised? You say any real Jones fan would have known about this already. Well, if that’s the case, I guess I’m 0-2. Bummer!
You can count Grammy nominee, Jamie Grace on the list as well. She has been quoted as saying, “If I like a guy, I’m not one who is going to reach for his hand or give him a long hug. I’ve set boundaries and believe these are things that should be shared with someone I would be very serious with—not a casual dating relationship.” She’s also stated, “I believe I was created by the creator of love. I know that he knows my dreams, my hopes and my future. And I believe it’s my goal to live a life that is pleasing to him doing whatever it is he has in store while I am and I have waited for the love of my life. I believe that true love is the most beautiful thing in the world and I believe it’s worth waiting for and I really hope that you’ll give waiting a chance too.” Not going to assume but, you be the judge.
In a world where intimacy (or straight-up sex) is more than just a thing, it’s a way of life, you’d think NBA superstar, Jeremy Lin has had his fair share of… well, “intimacy”. Apparently though, that’s not really the case. While things are pretty sketchy about this one, it has been confirmed, somewhat. One of Lin’s friends from college (if anyone knows, it has to be his friend from college, right?) has been quoted as saying, “they didn’t take it to the next level” with women in college. The keyword here being college.
Susan Boyle first rose to fame when she was a contestant on the hit TV show Britain’s got Talent . Before she sang no one knew what to think. When she began to sing, however, she got a standing ovation from the crowd and Judge, Simon Cowell gave her a smile and by gave her a smile, I don’t mean the usual smirk he gives to contestants he’s about to utterly own and verbally dismantle, unmercifully on live TV for the whole world to see. I mean the kind of smile you give your son or daughter after a job well done. As far as the virginity thing goes, although, she “was” there’s a pretty good chance she “isn’t”, but one can only guess.
If you’re into looking at YouTube videos, much like the rest of the world, then you probably know or have heard of someone by the name of Swoozie. If you haven’t, then you’re in luck, because I’ll tell you. His resume includes Interviewing former president of the United States, Barack Obama, being on a reality TV series called WCG Ultimate Game and having a role in 2017 feature film, The Space Between Us . Swoozie has done all this by the age of 37, and it’s not made clear if he has or hasn’t done the deed (yet). Regardless, he’s a pretty amazing (and talented) guy, nonetheless.
If you couldn’t tell by this list, I’m a guy who enjoys making people laugh, even if it’s just a little bit. Pete Holmes is also a guy who enjoys making people laugh. Regardless of the fact that he makes you laugh more than I can make you laugh, he’s on this list because at one point or another he was a virgin a lot longer than he probably should’ve been. I mean for Pete’s sake, he’s over 6 feet tall. Chicks dig tall dudes! As you can imagine, this choice to stay a virgin before getting married was a choice and it was a choice that became null and void due to getting married. This one is a bit more different than the others on this list and well, if you want to figure out why, you’re going to have to look it up. The reason, much like most of what Holmes says, is pretty funny.
Alright, so maybe I could’ve just made this entry about the Jonas Brothers as a whole, but honestly, something tells me I shouldn’t and you know what, I obviously didn’t. Instead, this entry is solely about Kevin Jonas. No that’s not the one that sings Jealous or Close, no it isn’t Joe. It’s Kevin… just Kevin. This entry, much like some on this list, is supposed to be about how the particular celeb remained a virgin until marriage. For anyone who cares, this is allegedly the path that one, Mr. Kevin Jonas took. Much like I’ve mentioned in previous entries, this is quite impressive considering the amount of DMs Jonas probably gets on a daily basis. Anyway, Jonas is now married to Danielle Deleasa, with whom he starred in a reality show, called Married to Jonas . He may get ribbed sometimes for being “that one Jonas brother that no one really cares about”, but at the end of the day, he can say his life is more than likely 10 times better than his detractors and when you think about it, that’s definitely something to brag about.
Last, but certainly not least is Taylor Lautner. The guy that most men hate because most women love. Most know him for his role as Jacob Black on the hit film series, The Twilight Saga . Besides being young, talented, etc, etc, he apparently can say that he practices abstinence, which means that your girlfriend has another reason to be in love with a celebrity you wish you were. Prepare to be compared to and utterly and shamelessly humiliated because you “only want one thing” and you “don’t care about the relationship.” “Oh, why can’t you be more like Taylor”, she cries. “Why can’t I find a real man?”, she ponders. Meanwhile, you’re scratching your head asking yourself a question of your very own: “Why me”, you think to yourself.
... but it costs a lot of money to get that done.
