Short version

TaskRoket: Media Stop does not collect, transmit, sell or share any data. Everything the extension knows stays in your own browser profile.

What the extension stores

The extension uses chrome.storage.local only. Nothing is sent to a server, because the extension has no server and makes no network requests.

  • settings — your switches (enabled, blockAutoplay, muteOnStop, pauseOnBlur, showButton) and the sites you allowed to autoplay; to remember your choices
  • stats — counters: how many players were stopped, how many pages were seen, a short list of host names (up to 50) with counts; to show the numbers in the popup
  • tr.locale — the interface language you picked; to keep the UI in that language
  • tr.theme — dark / light / auto; to keep the interface theme

The host-name list is capped at 50 entries and is pruned by the loudest sites. It never leaves the device and is not used for profiling or advertising.

What the extension reads on a web page

To stop autoplay the content script looks at <video> and <audio> elements of the page (including open shadow roots and embedded frames): whether the element is playing, muted, looping or has the autoplay attribute, and its source URL. That information is used in the page itself and is never stored as a history of what you watched, never sent anywhere and never shown to anyone.

What the extension does NOT do

  • no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or advertising identifiers;
  • no cookies, no fingerprinting, no account, no sign-in;
  • no remote code, no remote configuration, no third-party scripts;
  • no access to passwords, forms, keystrokes or clipboard.

Permissions

autoplay there. It only touches media elements and never reads page content for any other purpose.

  • storage — to save the settings and counters described above.
  • Access to sites (<all_urls>) — the extension has to run on every page to stop

Removing your data

Uninstalling the extension deletes its chrome.storage.local data together with the extension, and a fresh install always starts with empty counters.
