That's something to be discussed privately though. It should in no way be referenced in any public listing about the behavior of a particular person across the street who is in a group home with clear mental health issues. That is someone's private business.
The fact that many people here agree with OP's thought process is concerning.
Are you a host or a guest, or both?
As a guest, I would want to know about anything that might affect my stay before I book, especially if the host offers instant booking. This particular thing wouldn’t bother me at all, but it is a thing. There are all kinds of ways to give potential guests a heads up without compromising this person. That’s what OP is trying to work out.
As a host, given AirBnB’s rating system and the fact that people are jerks, this would allow said jerks to scroll on by. Unless you expect this host to respond to every inquiry with this information? That doesn’t seem very do-able.
I posted in this thread about what a host mentioned about her own kid! If anything, I think it’s a protective gesture towards the woman across the street.
I'm a guest. And OP mentions a less than stellar review from someone who didn't like her behavior. That's on them. She is still a person minding her business and I think it's invasive to note her presence in a public listing because of some host who is scared of not making money. She lives across the street. She is not part of the property nor does she have anything to do with it.
Sorry, no. Tacky. If that were a loved one of mine and I came across some Aurbnb obviously referencing her as some type of neighborhood nuisance, I wouldn't be pleased.
Well, you’re clearly in the minority here, and many people have raised good points.
OP is operating a business. Of course they want to make money. If AirBnB’s rating system wasn’t so stupid and draconian, this post probably wouldn’t have been necessary.
My mom is 83 and in reasonably good health, but about 10 years ago I noticed that she wasn’t quite as sharp as she was. Chalked it up to aging and the stress of caring for my terminally ill Dad, but my spidey sense was telling me there was more to it. My sister and my cousin, who is very close to my mom, said they hadn’t noticed anything.
Fast forward to today. Or the past couple of years. Her hearing is obviously deteriorating, plus, because my now deceased father never, ever, ever stopped talking, she’s a master at tuning people out. I was supposed to spend some time with her after a class reunion before going home. She asked a question, I answered, looked to see if she had taken it in, and she hadn’t, because I “mumble”. Next question, I answered in a much louder voice. Looked again, asked her if she’d taken it in, and she said she hadn’t been paying attention.
Now, this is all VERY minor compared to what I’ve been reading here, but I lost it. Apparently, her lack of hearing is a “me” problem. She won’t get her ears checked, blah blah, blah. I reminded her that hearing loss is linked to cognitive decline - she said “oh well.”
NO. I am NOT doing this. My father was an abusive asshole and she never protected me or my sister, so I guess some resentment is starting to surface. The veneer of compassion I’ve had for her just dissolved in an instant. She also has the kind of arguing skills they write books about how to avoid.
So, we’re off to a pretty bad start over a rather minor problem. She has plenty of money to go to assisted living when the time comes, and I have zero tolerance for her unwillingness to make an effort at doing pretty much anything.
If you had it to do over with a stubborn parent, what would you be thinking at this point? I’M thinking “you do you, Mom, but there will be consequences”. Like - we’re done visiting because it’s impossible to communicate. Simple. But I know it’s not. And to be very clear, I’m not freaking out because she’s suddenly aging. We’re not that close. I don’t miss my Dad one bit. Am I a monster?

Nah, you're not a monster. They don't tell you this but old people can be stubborn, horrible •unts and abuse they people trying to look after them. I know this from experience. I would purposefully use a whiteboard to communicate and tell her you lost your voice. If she can hire help to look after her, then let her. You don't actually owe her anything.
I’m not in close enough proximity to use a whiteboard (I’m home now), but damn, I wish I had thought of that when I was there. And only answer yes or no questions because f*ck writing out a bunch of sentences.

Nope. I don’t know if you saw what I wrote in one of my posts because it’s probably in the middle of a word salad, but the root of the problem for me is that my mother enabled my toxic, abusive father my entire life. I didn’t realize how much I resented her for it until we had our first fight about a relatively minor thing related to aging.
She said things that hit all of my triggers, and “poof”. Any good will I had for her just disappeared. And love? In our family, “love” was used to excuse horrible behavior.
She’s a very wealthy woman. And extremely, extremely stubborn. Her legal matters are in the hands of lawyers and I already have power of attorney. She has world-class health insurance. Her emotional well-being matters to me about as much as mine matters to her. Which is not a lot.
How about stop using my white towels when you die your hair red on vacation at my apartment? How about stop using my white towels to clean up grease from your car? How about stop using my white towels to bring to the beach and destroy with food and beverage stains? We recently went to dark towels and you know what? Guests have found ways to destroy those with bleach and lighteners and chlorine from pools. How about Airbnb take the appropriate steps to include a linen damage deposit? Hotels charge you for stealing and ruining their towels. And if you say anything to guests about what they destroyed, they write a negative review. Let’s not even get started with what they do to your bed linens and carpets!!! Absolutely disgusting people on the planet!!!
PSA for AirBnB hosts: Hair coloring conditioner is now a thing. The initial color is done by applying super pigmented conditioner in the hair and letting it sit. Then there’s a less pigmented conditioner for use after shampooing to keep the color fresh.
Some colors are more intense than others. OverTone’s Blue for Brown Hair is a nightmare. Source: I use it. However, I’m not an asshole and I bring one of those special hair towels with me when I travel - they’re really small and you just wrap your hair up in it.
So if you find what seems to be hair dye on your towels and in your shower, it’s probably that. Don’t provide white towels!
I’m sure this product will be a scourge for AirBnB hosts if it isn’t already.

Me. Her mother worked at the same place I do before she died. I sat two desks away from her. They loved Johnny, and he loved them, even the crazy dad. They knew their daughter was a problem, because Heard’s mom talked about Lily Rose not being at the wedding, what a bridezilla she was, and her dismay at all of the drugs around that Heard arranged for, knowing Johnny was trying to stay as sober as Johnny could.
100% she told Heard to stop treating Johnny like shit. She knew not because Johnny told her, but because Amber was a little shit. Overheard phone calls, general chat…she told Amber to shape up or she would lose him, and hence her career.

See above. Liberal abortion laws are useless unless there are sufficient places to get an abortion, and without being harassed. Which is what happens in cowtowns in rural areas. Also, are you a person with a working penis and viable sperm? If so, GTFO, because you have no standing in this matter.

According to the publication, William is overjoyed with the news.
“He thought three kids was enough, but a fourth would leave him overjoyed. He loves being a dad. They’ll have their hands full with four, but will make it work.”
And the timing couldn’t be “more perfect”. With Meghan and Harry leaving the royal family and Prince Andrew embroiled in a sex scandal, the news of a new baby will sweeten the mood.
“It’s a reason to celebrate again,” adds the source.
