Veteran Singer Pilita Corrales Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award

Manila, Philippines – April 12, 2025

Legendary Filipino singer and actress Pilita Corrales, often referred to as 'Asia's Queen of Songs,' was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 38th Awit Awards last night for her unparalleled contributions to Philippine music and entertainment.

The 85-year-old icon, best known for timeless hits like 'Kapantay ay Langit,' 'A Million Thanks to You,' and 'Dahil Sa Isang Bulaklak,' received a standing ovation as she accepted the award at the glamorous ceremony held at the Mall of Asia Arena.

In her heartfelt speech, Corrales expressed gratitude to her fans, family, and colleagues who have supported her throughout her seven-decade-long career. 'Music has been my life, and to be recognized in this way is truly humbling. I never imagined that my songs would still be loved after all these years,' she said, drawing cheers from the audience.

The award also highlighted her pioneering role as the first host of the popular variety show 'An Evening with Pilita,' which paved the way for many Filipino entertainers. Tributes poured in from fellow artists, including Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, and Pops Fernandez, who performed a medley of Corrales' greatest hits.

Corrales, who continues to perform occasionally, hinted at a possible farewell concert later this year. 'If my voice and health permit, I’d love to sing for my fans one last time,' she teased.

The Philippine entertainment industry and fans worldwide celebrated the well-deserved recognition for the beloved star, whose legacy remains unmatched.
