Orianne walks in the country with Tina and Claudine. Suddenly, a beige dog rushes out the bushes and bites Orianne’s left knee. She tries to hit it with her walking sticks. A stronger blow of the stick explodes its left eye. The dog howls and runs away. Orianne tries to walk some steps with the help of her sticks, but the pain is too loud. The narrow pedestrian path ends on an agricultural road. Orianne put her arms on shoulders of her both friends and progresses only on her right foot. They stop and Tina put her belt as tourniquet on Orianne’s leg to restrain the bleeding. Claudine calls the rescue service. They continue to walk laboriously at three. The three friends arrive at the car park at same time than the ambulance and police car. The medical staff cares Orianne and drives her at hospital. Claudine and Tina explain at policemen the attack which underwent half an hour before. When, they went back home with Orianne’s car.
At hospital, receives good cares on her wounds. The nurse injects antibiotics as doctor ordered. Hours later, pain grows at Orianne’s knee. She has more and more fever. Infection progresses below and above the knee. Doctor tries other antibiotics. Orianne loses consciousness. The doctor calls the surgeon to perform an emergency amputation to save her life. After surgery, the nurse continues to inject sedatives for two days. When Orianne wakes up, she only sees a lump under the sheet, made by a single foot and a single leg. She lifts the sheet and sees a thick round bandage where her thigh was, and nothing below. She cries hot tears.
The dog's owner files a criminal complaint for animal abuse. The police take the parallel with the attack on Orianne. Later, a judge sentences the dog to death. Its owner is condemned to pay a compensation at Orianne and receive a prohibition to get another dog.
From time to time, Orianne gets a sudden phantom pain at her left knee, which is absent. The violent pains are similar as if the brain replays the dog’s attack. Recently, Orianne found how to stop pain: she gives an intense massage at her stump. With this method, the brain receives information where the leg ends. The massage gives Orianne also a sexual emotion as by Jean-Paul’s caresses. But now Jean-Paul is not at her side. After his first visit at hospital, she has no news from him. He doesn’t answer at phone calls or text messages. Orianne learns quiet how to live on a single leg. She is still depressed by her new body, and she is sad to have been abandoned by her boyfriend.
Love when she brings us fresh produce from her garden. She does more with one arm than most people do with two.
