For years I have been buying Rice a Roni Long Grain Wild Rice to serve with dinner. It has always been a hit, and when I really don't feel like cooking I just dump a pound of cooked ground beef (with some fresh garlic) into a pot of Rice a Roni with a vegetable on the side and, voila, dinner! When I could not find the long grain wild rice at the grocery stores, for some reason, I immediately went to Amazon. Of course, they had it in stock and I quickly purchased two twelve pack boxes (even though it was almost double the price of what it was at the store). When it was delivered, I opened up a box and made dinner. After one bite I realized that this is not the original long grain wild rice recipe. The taste wasn't horrible, just not what we were used to and most of us didn't eat any more. I went back to Amazon and found my version of Rice a Roni, and everything has been fine since. So, my recommendation to you is to compare the box of your original Rice a Roni to the ones that you are buying on Amazon, because they have different types now. Why can't companies just leave well-enough alone?

As far as the grain selection, time to cook, and taste, this is the best version of wild rice I've been able to find. I typically make about a pound of ground beef chopped whilst cooking until it's brown. Then add about a tablespoon of butter or olive oil, followed by 16 ounces of cooked black beans and water. Then wait until it's done. More or less has everything I need for recovery from strength training and is a easy to make meal. That said, as always, it's better to make from scratch if you have the time. This is a 5/5 because it compares well with making it from scratch.

I'm glad you asked. I've consumed this product for many years. However recently they've replaced the long grain rice for traditional rice with long grain seasoning. It's certainly noticeable with no warning from the company. Blatant false advertising and I'm pissed off about it.

I have this product on an auto-ship and have never had problems until this last shipment. The spice packet appears to have had exposure to moisture because it's all hard and stuck to the sides of the packet and I can't get it all out. And therefore unfortunately it lacks flavor.

I thought this was like previous Rice-a-Roni with long grain, wild rice in with white rice. I can't use package with herbs (to much salt). Hopefully will be able to order the other ones I had before or may have to stop.

It's Rice a Roni, what is there to review? The taste is fine. The packaging is fine. The price is fine. I appreciate being able to get a large number sent directly to me.

Long time Rice a Roni fans this product did not disappoint. Although the directions said to boil on the stove, I did sauté it and then steamed. It was great and price was okay.

I wish these prepared boxes were not sooooo salty

The DeDomenico family all enjoyed an old Armenian dish consisting of rice, vermicelli pasta, and chicken broth. The rice and pasta were sauteed in butter before the liquid was added, giving the dish its distinctive taste. In 1958, Vince DeDomenico decided to take this recipe and produce it for sale in grocery stores. He placed the rice and pasta in a box, and added a dry seasoning mix in place of the liquid chicken broth. Because this product was made up of half rice and half pasta, he decided to call it Rice-A-Roni. Chicken Rice-A-Roni was first introduced in the northwestern states in 1958. With it came the first Rice-A-Roni commercial, featuring San Francisco’s Cable Cars and the now famous jingle. Created in San Francisco, Rice-A-Roni would soon be known to all as 'The San Francisco Treat!'. The product was an immediate hit. Over the next couple of years, Rice-A-Roni spread across the United States and by 1962 was available for all of America to enjoy.
Today, Rice-A-Roni and Pasta Roni are both leading brands in the grocery store. We still make our classic flavors like Chicken and Beef Rice-A-Roni and Angel Hair Parmesan Cheese and Fettucine Alfredo Pasta Roni, along with new favorites inspired by more worldly cuisines. We are also continuing to develop new products to meet the developing tastes and needs of our consumers, including products like Nature's Way, which is made with all natural rice and pasta with no preservatives and no artificial flavors, or Whole Grain Blends which provide nutritious whole grains and are a good source of fiber. Last night, Stephen Colbert and Samantha Bee told the same joke. Well, mostly. After each started their late-night monologues with a "How was your weekend?" quip, they both dove right into the national topic du jour: President-elect Donald Trump’s transition to the White House. Specifically, they took jabs at Trump’s choice for chief of staff , Reince Priebus, by making anagrams of his name.
On The Late Show , Colbert called the Republican National Committee chair "Penis Rice a Roni." And on Full Frontal , Bee rearranged the letters of his name to spell "Eerie R.N.C. Pubis." (In case you’re wondering, Bee's example is a legit anagram of Priebus' name, Colbert's is not.) In both cases, the jokes got LoLs, but they also got us thinking: Surely there were some great potential Priebus anagrams they didn’t use, right? We took this challenge to Wordsmith.org, which found 9,463 possible outcomes for "Reince Priebus"—while most of those were gibberish, there's more than one icier pun rebus that Bee and Colbert missed. Consider these our favorites:

QUIGLEY: What do you think about Condoleezza Rice wanting to be commissioner of the NFL?
STUART SCOTT: Quigley? Please tell me that’s not on your birth certificate.
JOE ESTES: Stuart, the best player in baseball has got to be A-Rod . He’s the bomb-diggity. If I had to start a team from scratch, I’d build around him.
SCOTT: Joe, I’d build around you. Anyone who can use the phrase “bomb-diggity” the right way gets my vote.
CHELE: You didn’t answer Quig’s question and he didn’t answer yours. Communication, guys.

QUIGLEY: I think Condi would make a good security guard.
SCOTT: Quigley, how about a little respect? After all, in about 45 seconds she could find out everything you’ve ever done -- including those questionable tax returns.
JOE ESTES: Do the ESPN wives ever have cook-offs?
SCOTT: Joe, that’s such a politically incorrect thing to ask. They have weightlifting and long-drive competitions.
CHELE: Do you cook? I have a pork loin sizzlin’ on the grill now.
SCOTT: I cook like a champion. My wife married me because of how I cook. I also do pretty well in the kitchen. Heh-heh.

SCOTT: You got me. No. 6: Mark Eaton.
CHELE: Did you ever have a huge Afro?
SCOTT: Sixth grade, 1977. Also had the Afro pick sticking out of my pocket with the black fist on it. Soul power. I was Quigley before Quigley was Quigley.
