Beloved actress Patricia Clarkson, known for her captivating performances in films like Pieces of April, The Station Agent, and Sharp Objects, will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. The festival’s organizers announced the news today, praising Clarkson’s 'unparalleled ability to bring depth, wit, and humanity to every role she inhabits.'

Clarkson, a two-time Emmy winner and Oscar nominee, has long been a favorite of critics and audiences alike for her work in both independent cinema and prestige television. The 65-year-old actress expressed her gratitude in a statement: 'To be recognized in this way at Cannes, a festival that has always championed bold and daring storytelling, is truly humbling. Film has been my life’s great passion, and I’m so grateful to continue this extraordinary journey.'

The honor comes on the heels of Clarkson’s acclaimed performance in the upcoming drama The Last Summer, which is set to premiere at the festival. Directed by Olivier Assayas, the film stars Clarkson as a renowned novelist reflecting on her life and legacy during a transformative summer in Provence.

Festival director Thierry Frémaux called Clarkson 'a luminary of modern cinema' and noted that her career—spanning over three decades—exemplifies artistic fearlessness.
