CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland FBI agents on Wednesday raided an East Side massage parlor in an attempt to find evidence of a regional sex-trafficking ring.
Agents with the Organized Crime Task Force executed a search warrant at Relax Zone inside the Asian Town Center on Superior Avenue after investigators found the business offered more than just massages, official documents show.
"It is believed that workers at the business ... are illegal aliens and are engaged in prostitution, possibly against their wills," according to an FBI affidavit.
Officials also scoured two similar establishments -- one in Toledo and another in Findlay -- suspected of providing sex to customers. All three businesses share the same owner -- Yawen "Nancy" Xing -- the affidavit said.
No arrests were made during the searches. The FBI would not disclose what evidence, if any, was taken from the massage parlors.
Criminal informants helped the FBI hone in on the suspected sex ring during a months-long investigation, documents show.
Agents were led to Relax Zone when an informant told authorities that Xing is a "leader in prostitution and human trafficking" in Northeast Ohio, according to the affidavit.
The FBI used another informant to confirm workers at Xing's massage parlors offered to perform sexual acts for customers, documents show.
The investigation revealed some of Xing's workers live together in residences near each of her three establishments.
Multiple Relax Zone workers share a home on East 38th Street, just down the road from the Asian Town Center, documents show.
Agents collected discarded trash from the home, set up video surveillance and intercepted mail as part of their investigation.
Xing, who could not be reached by phone for comment, was not at Relax Zone Thursday when cleveland.com visited the massage parlor. No one answered the door during a stop at the East 38th Street residence.
The FBI requested permission to confiscate an array of evidence from Xing's massage parlors Wednesday, including: employee and financial records; recording devices; documents containing information about clientele; and "contraband relating to prostitution."
Last year, authorities in Warren shut down eight massage parlors suspected of prostitution, but made no arrests.
Christopher Becker, a Trumbull County prosecutor, told The Plain Dealer in August the purpose of the shutdowns was to “get those things out of the city.”
FBI Spokeswoman Vicki Anderson would not say if Wednesday’s searches had anything to do with the closings in Warren.

GiGi’s has been like a second home to our family ever since it’s doors opened before James (now 6) was a year old. It’s not uncommon for us to be there several times in one week! The educational, therapeutic, and purposeful play programs hold an important role in James' development, targeting motor, language, social skills and more - all to help James be the best James he can be! Just as amazing is the GiGi’s community where we’ve gained quick friends and family who are always there to offer support, encouragement, and wisdom.
You just can’t help but be happy and marvel at the magic that takes place within the walls of GiGi’s, knowing darn well that the “Generation G” message to be accepting, generous, and kind also resonates out into the community as well! James would not be where he is today without GiGi’s Playhouse, and it’s comforting to know that no matter what age or stage James is at, he will always have a place here!

Our family could not have dreamed a more positive and wonderful life changing experience for David than what GiGi’s Playhouse has made possible. B.G. (Before GiGi's), David's social life revolved around bowling. Fun, but not exactly stimulating or enriching. Having grown up in a different era, we felt lucky that even that was available.
I've seen such a transformation in my brother A.G. (After GiGi's). I love hearing him talk about the books they are reading in book club; every week he asks me if this is a Fantastic Friend's Friday; he loves his Friday afternoon chats hanging out with Amy and the other folks at the Playhouse...and he has a sense of purpose volunteering to help with set up, playing with the little kids, and being appreciated for who he is and what he has to offer.
When we first saw GiGi's Playhouse open up - we were so happy younger families had resources we couldn't have even dreamed of...it didn't even dawn on us initially to see if there were activities for adults as well. Thank God we finally did!
My five-year old grandson Caden’s extra chromosome was discovered 4+ months before his birth. With plenty of time for fear to take root, GiGi’s Playhouse Cleveland would have none of that! Upon our first visit, we were met with congratulatory hugs, smiles and baby gifts! In other words, GiGi’s Playhouse told my daughter and son-in-law, “You’re having a baby! The Mad Max: Fury Road actress and music scion (grandpa is Elvis Presley , mom is Lisa Marie Presley and dad is musician Danny Keough ) stars as a law school student who moonlights as an escort in the upcoming Starz series The Girlfriend Experience .
Keough strips down a lot and has a lot of sex on the show. She knew what she was getting into. "I know that there's going to be sex in it, it just kind of comes with it," Keough recalls about me the first time she read a script for the pilot episode. "I was expecting all of that."
The 13-episode series is based on director Steven Soderbergh 's 2009 film of the same name.
"What's cool about it is when you're watching it, it really weirds you out," Keough said while promoting the The Girlfriend Experience and her indie flick Lovesong at the Eddie Bauer Adventure House at the Sundance Film Festival . "It gets weird reactions because there was no lighting [and] it's super naturalistic so it's very uncomfortable. It's like spying on this girl doing the weird stuff."
Her husband of almost a year , stuntman Ben Smith-Petersen , apparently isn't bothered by her explicit scenes.
"He's fine," Keough said. "You know, he works in film as well so he understands how it works and its part of the job. He watched the whole season, he's very cool. We're like very progressive. He doesn't care about that kind of stuff."
As for her mom, Keough said, "I showed her a couple of episodes and I did fast forward a couple of things."
No surprise, but Keough also said, "I haven't shown my dad anything!"
The Girlfriend Experience will premiere on Starz on April 10.
