The Outdoor Iceclimbing training Course takes place in the very beautiful mountain region of central Norway, where cascades and frozen waterfalls abound in winter.
The variety of terrain, combined with ideal road and tourist infrastructure, creates excellent conditions for comfortable and safe iceclimbing training. Access to the main training sectors does not take much time - the most convenient cascades are located within a 10-20 minute walk from the parking lot.
Classic iceclimbing on the frozen waterfalls is a combination of the high aesthetics of mountaineering with the dynamics and precision of the rockclimbing technique. During the training program its participants receive the necessary information about iceclimbing techniques and tactics, develop confident belay skills on the ice, learn how to handle various technical devices for iceclimbing and providing safe belay while climbing.
The training course “Iceclimbing in Norway” is ideal for comprehensive preparation for technical class ascents on the ice and snow-ice alpine routes.
Over more than 10 winter seasons, this Norway Iceclimbing Course has proven its effectiveness in preparing participants for climbing famous mountain peaks around the world.
After completing the Norway Iceclimbing Course, its participants successfully climbed such peaks as Mount Ushba, Mount Dykh Tau, Mount Shkhara, Peak Matterhorn, Nevado Alpamayo, Nevado Huascaran, Mount Cook and others.
The Norway Iceclimbing Course consists of 3 training sets of 3 days each, the duration of daily iceclimbing sessions is from 3 to 5 hours. Between training sets there are days of rest from iceclimbing, during which the participants can take part in the ski touring trips and do ski ascents of the surrounding peaks.
An organized trip to Bergen is possible - with a visit to the famous Bryggen promenade, fish market and even the climbing wall.
The combination of high efficiency training with the high load of physical activity allows, during the Norway Iceclimbing Course, to solve many issues of general physical and special training necessary for climbers to perform technical ascents.
The overall load during the Norway Iceclimbing training Course is so intense that the participants retain their physical tone for at least another 6-8 months after completing the program.
Combined with the Rockclimbing Course in Mallorca, the Norway Iceclimbing Course provides an ideal year-long training plan for climbing intermediate and advanced alpine routes.
The course is coached by the international mountain guide and experienced climber Alex Trubachev - you can read his biography here. In the evenings after intensive days of iceclimbing, sitting comfortably by the fireplace, all members of our iceclimbing team share their plans and tell stories about traveling and climbing mountain peaks.
The Iceclimbing course is available in English.
