Neat Acoustics Petite Mk 2
Neat Acoustics PETITE Floorstanding Speakers
The Neat petite III is really something special,it may not be much too look at,but the sound grabs your attention and holds you there with is stunning pace, rythem and timming,if you like a warm, cuddly sound, with deep rich bass this is not the speaker for you.

The Speakers were used with the superb Sonnetter Campion integrated amp and Byron Cd player, all cables were from the Chord Company. The speakers need to be placed quite close to the rear wall, the speakers are rear ported, and don't take any great real estate of your room.Sturdy stands are needed.

The speaker sound more like a monitor than a hifi speaker,it's fast and very revealing, the tweeter is a touch bright, but never offensive or harsh, just alot of detail reaches youur ears,The speaker too many will appear very bass light, true it doesn't go down deep, but what it does have is control and a fast,rhytmic,foot-tapping bass quality,it certainly wont rattle the windows or shake your sofa.

The midrange expresses vocals wonderfully with realism, and stunning presence,it integrated very well with the treble unit,as I said it's not a hifi speaker that sets out to impress with a huge soundstage or depth,it's a speaker that communicates the musical message without showing off.

sensational sound from a little box
I bought the Neat Petite to replace large floor-standing B&W DM16 speakers, never thinking I'd get that big, warm British sound from tiny bookshelf speakers. In fact the sound is far far far better -- warm but super-accurate, with tons of bass and the sweetest treble; great for rock but wonderful too for large orchestras, sopranos, piano -- everything! The price is daunting but after auditioning more than a dozen other small speakers, this was the only only make which offered the quality I sought.

Neat Acoustics loudspeakers are designed to enable music lovers to experience all of the emotion and purpose that lies within recorded music. This is achieved by eliminating the artifice inherent in the recording/playback chain and revealing the essence of the musical message. Neat’s designers work from a listener’s point of view, playing many different types of music. The design is gradually shaped by an iterative process, adjusting and fine-tuning, and judging the results on a purely musical basis.
Great care is taken with the choice and development of all components used in Neat loudspeakers. Where appropriate, OEM parts are used, sometimes in modified form. Other parts are manufactured by ourselves, or by specialist companies producing to our specifications.
The Neat range covers a wide range of products for all types of applications;

The tiny Iota can be positioned on shelves, desktops, on wall brackets or on dedicated stands.

The elegant Motive range comprises three attractive room-friendly designs; the bookshelf SX3, the compact floorstanding SX2, and the slightly taller (yet still compact) full-range floorstanding SX1 model.

The Momentum range bridges the gap between the Motive and Ultimatum ranges. Again, three models which deliver performance far beyond what might be expected from such relatively compact designs. The Momentum range is also where the isobaric bass loading enters the Neat family. This is a technique which employs two drive units operating together with a sealed chamber between them, thus allowing the system to produce deeper bass fundamentals and greater control than would be achieved with a single drive unit in the same enclosure.
The Ultimatum range brings the isobaric configuration, and many other innovations, to the party. These include upward-firing ‘super tweeters’, birch plywood enclosures (in a variety of attractive finishes) sub-baffles coupled to the main enclosure via a polyethylene membrane. These Ultimatum models represent the pinnacle of what can be achieved by attention to detail, carefully chosen components, and allowing the music to guide the design process.

The PETITE SX is the latest development of a classic loudspeaker which began life in 1989. A small two-way bass reflex design, it is capable of exceptional bass extension and drive, and a remarkable presentation of all types of music.
The main drive unit is the latest version of that used in the upmarket Ultimatum range; a 6.5” doped paper cone with a ferrite magnet assembly and vented voice coil to enable high power handling without compression.
The tweeter used in the SX is a soft-fabric dome type with internal damping and a non-resonant chamber. The choice of tweeter is critical, because the tweeter lends the whole speaker its essential character and integrity. In this context, the tweeter’s strengths of superb dynamic contrast and accurate tonal colour are well matched to those of the main drive unit.
The enclosure is rigidly constructed from MDF and is tuned by a rear firing reflex port. The internal crossover network uses highest quality close-tolerance components and all connections are soldered. Bi-wire connectors are provided, and further performance gains can be made with bi-amplified operation. The Petite is intended for placement on rigid stands and can be used close to walls or in free space.
As with all Neat loudspeakers, the crossover is the result of painstaking development. Neat prefer to judge all aspects of tuning & voicing by ear, rather than referring to measurements. The crossover in the Petite SX is a simple, hard-wired 3–element type. Low-loss air-core inductors are employed, as well as high-grade polypropylene capacitors. All crossover components are specified to be within very tight tolerances in order to ensure excellent pair matching.
Enclosure type: Two-way bass reflex, staggered tuning
Recommended amplifier power: 25 – 200 watts
Impedance: 8 Ohms nominal (6 Ohms minimum)
“The Petite SX is a stunningly musical design that’s as revealing as it is enjoyable”
