Texas vs. Alabama: 5 key matchups NFL scouts are watching

And then there were two. The Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs will square off in the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday at 8 p.m. ET in Indianapolis.
Here are the lines and odds for the College Football National Championship game — the point spread, odds to win the title and total over/under (with all odds via FOX Bet).
No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 3 Georgia (8 p.m. ET Monday, ESPN)
Point spread: Georgia -2.5 (Georgia is favored to win by than 2.5 points, otherwise Alabama covers) Moneyline: Georgia -143 favorite to win (bet $10 to win $16.99 total); Alabama +120 underdog to win (bet $10 to win $22 total) Total scoring over/under: 53 points scored by both teams combined
Of course, because Alabama and Georgia are the only remaining teams, their odds to win the game (also known as the moneyline) are the same as their respective odds to win the national championship.
Odds to win the College Football Playoff National Championship
Alabama knocked off the No. 4 Cincinnati Bearcats in one half of the semifinal on New Year's Eve, covering as 13.5-point favorites with a 21-point victory, while Georgia marched past the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines 34-11, also covering as 7.5-point favorites.
As a result, this year's national championship game is a rematch of December's SEC championship game, in which Alabama beat Georgia 41-24 for the Crimson Tide's seventh straight win over the Bulldogs. Georgia was a 6.5-point favorite in that initial matchup, with Alabama winning as a +190 underdog on the moneyline.
These two teams similarly collided in both the 2018 SEC Championship and College Football Playoff National Championship games — a double-dip that Alabama swept.
Can Georgia turn the tide and finally knock off Nick Saban & Co.? Or will Alabama come away with its fourth national title in eight seasons of the CFP era? Head on over to FOX Bet to place your bets now !
Here are some picks by our betting experts:
FOX Sports college football analyst Charles Woodson
"I think the Georgia Bulldogs are playing inspired football. They ran over my Wolverines , which I'm not too happy about, but I think this team is on a mission to finally beat the Crimson Tide. I'm gonna go Georgia 27-23 over 'Bama."
FOX Sports Betting Analyst Geoff Schwartz
"This Alabama offense made all the big plays against Georgia's defense in the first meeting, and I don't believe it will happen again. Georgia's defensive line will play better, which will lead to the Bulldogs' secondary having a better game. Plus, without wide receiver John Metchie , this is a different Alabama offense. The Crimson Tide's passing game looked pedestrian against Cincinnati 's pass defense. This number is just too high for this game."
"Alabama has scored under 24 points twice this season. The first was against LSU five weeks ago when they scored 20, and then the next instance came in an overtime win against Auburn . Both of those teams disrupted the Alabama offense on the line, which is precisely what I see Georgia's defensive line doing in this rematch. I can't hammer this home enough, UGA's defensive line played poorly against Alabama, and that won't happen again."
"Alabama is on track to start a true freshman at guard and another replacement at right tackle. With two offensive line starters going down against the Bearcats, it will be a tall task to contain this Bulldogs attack. I'm betting on Georgia to make life tough for Young and this entire Alabama offense in the title game."

Texas vs. Alabama: 5 key matchups NFL scouts are watching

The Georgia Bulldogs are your college football national champions ! So … who's next?
Here are the college football odds to win the 2022-23 national championship for every team that's +10000 or better, via FOX Bet .
For the full list of odds, click here .
That's right — after clashing in Monday night's national championship game, Alabama and Georgia are your co-favorites at +200, an implied probability of 33% of winning it all for each. Then, after a somewhat sizable gap, Ohio State and Clemson round out your top four favorites.
Those are the only four teams that are 12-to-1 or shorter to win the national championship, in fact, with the Aggies on the other side of another chasm at +3000. From there, the odds are a veritable list of perennial contenders.
Speaking of the Aggies, FOX Sports betting expert Jason McIntyre sees value on Texas A&M to win it all! Since it's never too early to bet on next year's national champions, here are JMAC's four best futures bets to make now (odds below as of when McIntyre made his picks).
You can never go wrong with Nick Saban’s Tide. There have been eight years of the College Football Playoff, and Alabama has made seven of them and been in the final six times. And, Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young is coming back.
The early non-conference schedule features cupcakes against Utah State and Louisiana-Monroe , plus a trip to underachieving Texas and former Alabama assistant coach Steve Sarkisian.
The offense, led by Heisman contender C.J. Stroud and star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba will have them in the mix for the playoff. And, if you’re looking for a Heisman sleeper, TreVeyon Henderson is your guy.
OSU's defense and schedule are why you’re getting such a big number. Trips to Michigan State and Penn State won’t be easy, and the Notre Dame opener will be telling. If the Buckeyes lose that game, this number might bump up to +1000, at which point you have to take a flier on Ohio State.
I took a flier on Jimbo Fisher to win the title last season, and while the win over Alabama was impressive, they only finished 8-4 with several disappointing losses. Injuries mattered, which is partially why you’re getting tremendous value on the Aggies.
It is a lottery ticket, as half of the defensive starters are expected to depart. But the top recruiting class in the country should matter, right? Trips to Alabama and Auburn will determine the season.
If the Aggies are a lottery ticket, what does that make Lincoln Riley’s first year at USC? The Trojans were 5-8 — their worst season in 30 years. The Drakes are gone, and nobody knows who the QB will be, but we can guess it might be Riley’s former quarterback at Oklahoma, Caleb Williams .
Riley is a terrific coach, and the Pac-12 will be down once again, with Oregon dealing with a coaching change, and UCLA still being UCLA. Tough to make a case for the Trojans winning at Utah , though, but there is some value in this number.
Whatever catches your eye, head on over to FOX Bet now to place your bets on next year's college football national championship!

The point spread on the College Football Playoff National Championship game dropped Friday, with influential money showing up on underdog Alabama and moving the line across the U.S. betting market.
Multiple sportsbooks reported receiving bets on the Crimson Tide +3 Friday afternoon, driving the line back down to +2.5, where it opened last week. The line had remained at Georgia -3 since last Saturday before moving around 2 p.m. ET, Friday.
Circa Sports, the Las Vegas-based sportsbook known to cater to influential bettors, has taken multiple $100,000 limit bets on Alabama from respected customers this week, including Friday afternoon when a wave of Crimson Tide money hit the market from Nevada to New Jersey. "I respected those bets [on Alabama]," Matt Metcalf, sportsbook director for Circa, told ESPN on Friday. "To me, this number has a lot more room to go down than it does up."
Caesars Sportsbook also reported line-moving money coming in on Alabama on Friday, but that overall, Georgia was attracting the bulk of the dollars on the game's point spread. As of Friday, 72% of the bets on the point spread were on Alabama, but 70% of the money that had been wagered was on the Bulldogs.
"I thought there'd be some money come in on Alabama at some point, and today was the day," said Adam Pullen, assistant director of trading for Caesars Sportsbook.
The betting on the outright winner of the College Football Playoff National Championship (8 p.m. ET, ESPN) is much more one-sided at Caesars Sportsbook, where 91% of the bets and 90% of the dollars wagered on the money line are on the Crimson Tide.
The lopsided action includes a $1.2 million bet on Alabama (+125) to win straight-up that was placed by Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale, the Houston furniture store owner who often uses the betting market to hedge promotional giveaways . The bet would win a net $1.5 million.
Caesars also reported taking a $300,000 money-line bet on the Crimson Tide (+125) from a Louisiana bettor earlier in the week. The over/under total was 52.5 at most sportsbooks entering the weekend.
