Imagine, you go out for a nice relaxing bit of exercise at the swimming pool and end up having some old man’s balls in your face? I guess some of you won’t really have to imagine a story like this because I guess it happens quite often, but I’m going to tell you about it anyway. Also let me get a cup of tea and sit with my iPad in bed and tell you this story from the beginning. Because all stories aren’t stories without tea.
So very recently I have discovered that I am not very fit, granted, I’m not fat by anyone’s standards so I don’t look unfit but I am. I used to be very fit, swimming every single day for two hours competing for my county. I was actually the 5th fastest in the United Kingdom at 200 meters backstroke for my age range. But this was a long time ago. I quit when I moved to secondary school because my swimming club wanted me to get up at 4 o’clock in the morning everyday before school and swim for another two hours (while still swimming the two hours after school).
It was at this point that I dropped out.
I dropped out because I didn’t want to be a sportsman, I wanted to be clever and I knew that It would hold me back.
I dropped out because I already felt like I didn’t have a social life since every single day I would have to go swimming, and as my old friends were mingling with new friends outside of school hours I would be stuck in the pool doing lengths.
I dropped out because I was a sore looser. In my entire swimming career I only came first once and that was because it was a relay event with three other swimmers. Every other single event I raced in I came second. And in swimming second place is the first to lose. I had a really big complex about never winning anything in my life and I even changed swimming clubs in the hope to be able to do more races for someone else – only to get there’s and discover there is one person who is still much better than me.
They are the real reasons I quit, and do I regret it? I can’t honestly say. All I know is that I do miss it sometimes, but it was such a massive turning around point in my life, that was he day that I decided which path it was I was going to go down. If I hadn’t quit, I may still be swimming, I could be training for the Olympics like the rest of my squad was (only to miss out on going by coming second in the deciding race or something (told you I was sour)). But if I hadn’t quit, would I be where I am now? At the 3rd best University in the country, studying computer science around amazing friends and having had time to get to know amazingly lovely people? Can I say that all of that would have still happened if I didn’t quit? No. So I guess I don’t regret it, I just miss it sometimes.
I miss it so much that i want to start swimming again at least not on he same level as I did before. I used to be bribed with swimming ‘you won’t go swimming if you carry on being naughty’ that’s how much I loved it.
But I want to be fit again! Its weird thinking that a 10-year-old me looked fitter and had more stomach muscles then the 18-year-old post puberty me has… And every old, fat and bold person I know as told me that one day they were ‘just like me’ until one day they woke up with a beer belly and bold patch. I don’t particularly want this to happen so I think it’s time to get fit.
So I decided to get off of my bum and actually go swimming again. Because I’m at quite a sporty university there are lots of different sessions I could go to and since I started here I really wanted to join one of the swimming clubs; I was just too lazy to ever find time, but to be fair my timetable last semester wasn’t ideal. I only wanted to go to the recreational one however because I knew I didn’t want to start having to go all the time again, I didn’t want to compete, I just wanted to swim. I think you kind of have to go at a time when there is someone to tell you what to do too because swimming is one hell of a boring sport if you are doing it on your own. You don’t push yourself properly for one thing so you never get a proper work out, and two it’s just so mind numbingly monotonous swimming back and forth over and over. So I went at the time that the recreational squad was training in the hope that they would actually be quite recreational and it wouldn’t be that hard to keep up with, at least for someone like myself who used to be pretty good.
Turns out no. Everyone is a pro no matter what level you swim at. All of them wearing the really expensive racing skins that I used to own, and these guys are only the recreational lot, imagine the performance group!
I didn’t flatter myself and get in with them, I picked an empty lane semi near by and then just attempted to swim with them. It turns out that was a very good idea because I am no way near as good as I used to be, as I could barely swim 75 meters without being absolutely knackered. Though I do put this down to a combination of it being a 50 meters pool and having not swum in so long that my body isn’t used to having to use so much energy on muscles instead of my brain. I think my breathing was all wrong, and after 100 meters my arms would be aching.
But this wasn’t the main problem, the main problem was that my hands and feet really hurt. Obviously they are a lot bigger then they were 8 years ago so maybe that had something to do with it, but after about 15 minutes of stunted swimming my hands were really beginning to ache and hurt, and I couldn’t swim 10 meters without my toes cramping up. It was really really painful actually and I had to get out.
I don’t think it’s put me off, I still want to go again. I just know that it’ll take many more trips before I can get anywhere near the standard that I used to be at.
But this isn’t the real reason your reading this, you don’t care about my swimming past, tell us about the balls.
So I was just casually getting changed as you do, when an older male (I don’t know why but there were actually quite a few older people at the university pool, but I assume that it is open to the public), walked into the area I was quietly changing in, completely on my own. Walks up to me, broad as brass, with his hands on his hips pushing his pelvis in my general direction… stark naked.
Why would you scare me like that? And why do you think this kind of behaviour is acceptable? Personally I feel uncomfortable taking my t-shirt off, and you walk around with your penis out.
Is this just a British thing or does it happen all over the world? Do women do this as well?
If you do this, why the hell do you do this?!

I’m not convinced that’s a “British thing”, it’s just one weirdo :P. Not good about your hands and toes, though from the sounds of your next blog that’s getting better – good luck on continued improvement!
Damn, thank god for that! My hands and toes took longer to hurt again this time so I think it’s just a case of not using them in that way for a long time! Hopefully I do continue to improve! Thanks
Didn’t even realise there was a particular way to use toes when swimming – hands I get, but eh, I’m absolutely no expert

Boys used to swim naked at the YMCA in the 60s and 70s, if it wasn't a problem then it shouldn't be a problem now. What if made swimming naked for boys mandatory again but coed with girls wearing swimsuits in swim classes? Boy's don't need privacy like girls do. What do you think?

A good three-quarters of the real problems girls have with boys stem from them NOT having the same legal and social protections. Thinking that you're going to fix that by removing the protections they DO have suggests that maybe you should stop drinking lead paint, no matter HOW tasty it is.

Is that even true? And what do you mean boys don’t need the privacy that girls do? Also if I were a parent or even a boy at school I’d feel very disturbed being around a teacher whilst I’m naked, I knew to many teachers who’d love this to be the case 🤮

Definitely sounds like a troll question! How, or why do you believe boys don't need the privacy that females do?

There is a movement going on in America that females are trying to get it to where they can go top less like males can in public. So, why would females need more privacy when they are trying to fight for their right to not have to hide their body.
Why do you think it STOPPED being a thing? Maybe it was more of a problem back then than you think it was.
