Well without context I can only speculate on why. However what you must realize is that women are often under a lot of pressure to “not upset people who intimidate them”
So just like a girl will smile when a stranger approaches - not because she likes him but purely because he’s a stranger - many girls give out their number just as a way to end the conversation.
Sure, some women give fake numbers, but that has negative consequences sometimes. But the vast majority of women give out their number because it’s easier to do that than to say no and be harassed.
