Where Is The Moon?

The small town of Silver Hollow had always been a quiet place, nestled deep in the woods where the nights were darker than anywhere else. The kind of town where everyone knew each other’s names, where secrets were rare, and where the moon hung low in the sky, casting an eerie silver glow over the streets. But on the night of October 31, 1987, the moon disappeared. And so did 17-year-old Eliza Hart.

Eliza was the kind of girl who stood out in a town like Silver Hollow. She had a wild streak, a love for astronomy, and a habit of sneaking out at night to stargaze. Her parents, strict and religious, often clashed with her free-spirited nature. But on that fateful night, Eliza didn’t come home. Her telescope was found abandoned in the field where she often went to watch the stars, its lens cracked and pointing at the empty sky.

The disappearance of Eliza Hart became the town’s most enduring mystery. The police searched for weeks, but there were no leads, no witnesses, and no trace of her. The only clue was a single word scrawled in the dirt near her telescope: Luna.

The Theories

Over the years, the case of Eliza Hart has spawned countless theories. Some say she ran away, tired of her parents’ strict rules. Others believe she was abducted by a passing stranger, though no one could explain how someone could vanish without a trace in such a small, close-knit community.

But the most chilling theory involves the legend of the Lunar Wraith, a local folktale about a spirit that steals the moon and anyone who dares to look for it. According to the story, the Wraith appears once every 50 years, on a night when the moon is full and the veil between worlds is thinnest. It’s said that those who encounter the Wraith are never seen again, their souls trapped in the void where the moon used to be.

Eliza’s disappearance fell on the 50th anniversary of the last reported sighting of the Wraith. Coincidence? Or something more sinister?

The Investigation

In 2017, 30 years after Eliza vanished, a group of amateur sleuths decided to reopen the case. Armed with modern technology and a determination to uncover the truth, they began digging into the town’s history. What they found was unsettling.

Records showed that Eliza wasn’t the first person to disappear in Silver Hollow under mysterious circumstances. In 1937, a young boy named Thomas Reed had vanished on the same night as a lunar eclipse. His body was never found, but his diary contained cryptic references to 'the light in the sky' and 'the shadow that moves.'

The sleuths also discovered that Eliza had been researching the Lunar Wraith legend in the weeks leading up to her disappearance. She had checked out books on local folklore from the library and had even written a letter to a professor specializing in paranormal phenomena. In the letter, she mentioned a strange light she had seen in the sky the week before she vanished.

The Breakthrough

The turning point came when one of the sleuths, a tech-savvy college student named Marcus, analyzed an old photograph taken the night Eliza disappeared. The photo, snapped by a local farmer, showed the field where Eliza’s telescope was found. At first glance, it appeared to be a simple landscape shot. But when Marcus enhanced the image, he noticed something strange: a faint, humanoid figure standing in the shadows, its face turned upward toward the sky.

The figure was too tall to be Eliza, and its proportions were... off. Its limbs were elongated, its head tilted at an unnatural angle. And its eyes—if they were eyes—seemed to glow with an otherworldly light.

The Disappearance of Marcus

The discovery of the figure sent shockwaves through the group. But before they could investigate further, Marcus vanished. His laptop, containing the enhanced image, was found in his apartment, its screen cracked and flickering. The last thing he had searched for was 'Lunar Wraith sightings.'

The remaining sleuths were divided. Some believed they were on the verge of uncovering the truth about Eliza’s disappearance. Others feared they had awakened something that should have been left alone.

On the night of October 31, 2017, exactly 30 years after Eliza’s disappearance, the moon reappeared in the sky over Silver Hollow. It was brighter than anyone had ever seen it, casting an almost blinding light over the town.

The next morning, Eliza’s telescope was found in the same field, its lens repaired and pointed at the sky. Beside it was a single footprint, too large to belong to a human.

To this day, no one knows what happened to Eliza Hart—or to Marcus. Some say they were taken by the Wraith, their souls trapped in the void. Others believe they found a way to escape, to a place where the moon still shines.
