Melanie Lynskey Advocates for Body Positivity in Hollywood: 'Enough is Enough'

Acclaimed actress Melanie Lynskey has once again taken a bold stand against Hollywood’s unrealistic beauty standards, calling for greater inclusivity and body positivity in the entertainment industry. The Yellowjackets star, known for her candidness about body image and self-acceptance, made the remarks during an emotional speech at the Women in Film awards ceremony last night.

'I’ve had enough of the constant scrutiny over women’s bodies,' Lynskey declared, receiving a standing ovation. 'We’re told to be thinner, younger, ‘perfect’—but perfection doesn’t exist. It’s exhausting, and it’s time for real change.'

Lynskey, who has been a vocal advocate for self-love, shared her own struggles with industry pressure, recalling times when she was advised to lose weight for roles. 'I used to internalize those comments, but now I realize how damaging they are—not just to me, but to every young girl watching.'

Her speech comes just weeks after she executive produced The Tipping Point, a new documentary exploring the harmful effects of diet culture in Hollywood. The film features interviews with actors, psychologists, and activists pushing for more diverse representation on screen.

Fans and fellow celebrities have flooded social media with support. The Last of Us showrunner Craig Mazin tweeted, 'Melanie is a powerhouse—on screen and off. We need more voices like hers.'

Lynskey ended her speech with a call to action: 'Let’s celebrate real bodies, real stories, and real talent. Enough is enough.'
