Unfortunate details have recently been revealed involving Mel B and her estranged husband, Stephen Belafonte .
According to TMZ , the former Spice Girls star is accusing her ex of physical abuse, which she says she endured throughout the course of their marriage.
The singer was granted a restraining order against Belafonte this week as she and her three children are reportedly in "fear for their lives."
The site reports that Mel B saw their marriage as a living nightmare that was constantly filled with physical violence, emotional distress and sexual blackmail.
She says the abuse allegedly began in 2007 when they first tied the knot. TMZ reports that Mel B recalled that Belafonte allegedly "placed both of his hands around her neck, began choking her and slammed her down onto the hardwood floors" on the night of her Dancing With the Stars finale.
The statement continued, "When she achieved any measure of success, he would 'beat me down to let me know he was in charge.'"
The abuse was reportedly not only physical — Belafonte would allegedly yell things like "die b***h" — but it was also sexual. He allegedly persuaded her into unwanted threesomes and sexual acts with "random women" by threatening to blackmail her by releasing their private sex tapes to the public.
Belafonte denied all of TMZ's claims, labeling them "untrue."
The former couple is currently in the middle of a nasty divorce.

Mel B proved life begins at 40 as she enjoyed a particularly playful trip to the beach with her husband Stephen Belafonte during their romantic getaway to the Turks and Caicos Islands earlier in the week.
The former Scary Spice appeared to be having the time of her life as she outrageously flirted with her film-producer spouse.
Mel, 40, showcased her famously-fit figure in an electric bandeau bikini but she possibly showed off more than she bargained for as she larked around in the sea.

The mother-of-three's bikini bottoms came loose, exposing her pert cheeks to the beach front, as she was lifted up by Stephen in a playful stunt.
She scrambled to salvage her dignity by grabbing the skimpy swimwear with both hands while he clung to her under her arms.
Stephen ensured she wasn't embarrassed by the mishap as he mimicked it by simply standing up in the clear-blue sea with some force, leaving his black swimming shorts to fall below his butt cheeks which certainly offered beach-goers an eyeful.

The former singer looked anything but Scary as she wowed in a blue bandeau studded bikini by Depsi as she showcased her incredible toned physique.

Stephen couldn't keep his hands of his fabulously fit wife as he was seen copping cheeky feels of her bottom but she didn't seem to mind.
They emerged holding hand-in-hand and he couldn't resist going for one grope of her behind.

The Leeds-born former X Factor judge and the some-time film producer have been dating since February 2007. They married four months later in a secret ceremony in Las Vegas.
They renewed their vows later in a lavish ceremony in Egypt, attended by their families, in November 2008.
Mel and Stephen have one child together - four-year-old daughter Madison. She has an additional two daughters, 16-year-old Phoenix and Angel, eight, who have separate fathers - Jimmy Gulzar and Eddie Murphy, respectively.
He also has another child - daughter Giselle - whose mother is actress Nicole Contreras.

Mel B has shown off her gym-honed figure in a daring leopard print two-piece that’s a clear nod to her Spice Girls days.
The singer, formerly known as Scary Spice, was known for her loud animal print ensembles.
Fast forward 20 years and Mel still seems to favour the same patterns.
The 46-year-old shared a picture on Instagram of her lying by a pool near the sea with the caption: “A few moments of peace will always go along way god me!!! Thank you.”
Her adoring fans instantly rushed to the comment section to compliment the For Once In My Life singer, with one writing: "It's like a never before seen picture from 1997."
Before a third chipped in adding: "The only one who can wear animal print and pull it off amazingly," alongside a string of heart-eye emojis.
Melanie is currently out in America with Emily Atack and Ruby Wax as the trio film their upcoming BBC Two show.
Together, they will follow in the footsteps of Isabella Bird, a female traveller from the 19th century.
During their trip, the trio have documented their travels for their respective Instagram followers, with Emily admitting they were "p***ing off the locals" which they seemed to be enjoying.
Mel's filming trip comes just weeks after she revealed she still suffers flashbacks from what she claims was an abusive relationship with former husband, Stephen Belafonte.
The singer split from Stephen in 2017 after 10 years of marriage and has since claimed that he was physically and emotionally abusive during their relationship – which he has vehemently denied.
She told the Sun: "Nearly five years on I still wake up in the early hours with terrifying fragments of sounds and images flitting into my brain.
"Things I've tried to block float to the surface - things that can still make me feel drenched in shame, sweat and fear."
She also won praise for starring in the harrowing short film Love Should Not Hurt in order to raise awareness of domestic violence.
"We need to talk about it, deal with it and do everything in our power to see justice done," she said.
Stephen has previously denied Mel's claims, with his legal team saying that the allegations were "outrageous and unfounded" and "nothing more than a smear campaign".
