I love Maleficent and the new twist in the story. I didn’t expect this to be that good, it just seemed to be a little shotty and thrown together sequel. But it ended up being better than I thought. I liked to story, albeit a bit predictable. But it ended well after an intense dramatic story that was on the edge of disturbing. I only rented it to give it a chance and I probably won’t purchase it.

Just adore the whole concept of this MALEFICENT. Disney cartoon had her all wrong. She is a deeply complex charecter.

No should ever do this role.Angelina was absolutely perfect. You mess with her and she really bites! Loved it.

This is the perfect example of what is wrong with Hollywood today. They manage to hire the most talented actors, experienced crews capable of creating the best set designs and find the best locations available. They hire incredible CGI artists who create fantastic creatures and effects that look practically indistinguishable from real life, and hire the best composers and musicians to write and perform spectacular soundtracks, yet they can't seem to hire competent, intelligent talented writers. It's mind-blowing to me that the powers that be over at Disney, Lucas films, HBO, and AMC to name but a few, who have some of the most cherished and beloved movie and tv franchises in the world each with huge fan bases to satisfy, and when it comes to the scripts they give no thought to it whatsoever and blindly and uncaringly accept any garbage from unqualified writers. How can they not be aware of the constant backlash online from feed up fans all over the world who are complaining daily of horrible writing as the only cause of their unhappiness with the movie or tv show in question . That is why GOT, Walking Dead, Star Wars, DC and Marvel have lost a considerable amount of their fans. It's solely due to abysmal writing. Why can't Hollywood find writers that are even 10% as talented as the fans themselves. Go online and read some blogs from fans of the above mentioned franchises and you will find genius theories, ideas and stories that are far superior to the garbage that the official writers create. This movie had everything else going for it as mentioned above except it was written by people who couldn't write a decent script. If you told me that the script was written by preschoolers I would believe it. According to this movie if you had friends and family that you have known, loved and cared about your whole life and they were ruthlessly slaughtered and killed by foreign enemies you would not only cheerfully embrace and forgive your enemies minutes after the slaughter but you would attend a joyous wedding directly afterward instead of mourning your loved ones and attending a mass funeral. Yes that is exactly what happens in this ridiculously stupid movie. How anyone involved with this picture could read the script and think that it is even remotely ok is beyond me. There were more plot holes and inconsistencies in this movie than vowels in this post. Like when dozens of fairy protagonists of the movie are trapped in a church and only have a single enemy who is killing them by the dozens by playing the church organ which spits out deadly powder and they sit there and let it happen. They even have the large tree creatures with them but they don't think to attack or even apprehend their attacker. The 3 good fairies apparently forget they have magical abilities at their disposal and only flit about like moths to try and distract the enemy. It's just so ridiculous and don't get me started with the evil queen played by Michelle Pfeiffer and how the heroes let her attack them over and over without permanently stopping her so she of course continues her evil ways. I swear I thought I was watching Neegan from the Walking Dead all over again. The movie gets 5 stars for every department except the writing which gets 1 star and that is being overly generous on my part. I think that the person or persons over at Disney who's job it was to choose an appropriate script for this Maleficent sequel needs to be held accountable for incompetence and fired from not just Disney, but from the entire movie industry so that they can never repeat their gross negligence. If I were a major shareholder of Disney I would demand it. The fact that the person or persons responsible for red lighting this convoluted and half-baked script, thought it was great and the one to hang their multi millions of dollars on proves my point. When will Disney and the rest of Hollywood learn and wake up.

Easy to watch and gave enough time to enjoy it

Brilliant reason for 3D

This film is what good visual effects and 3D is all about (tv manufactures have lost the plot) and is in the best of Disney tradition, superb from begining to end and worth every penny. Thankyou to those who still produce 3D blue ray discs and players. Now the gripe....... Having purchased the last of the top of the Range Panasonic 3D flagship tvs, what do I do with all my 3D discs Mr Panasonic when my tv fails? well instead of spending another £7000 on one of your tvs I will buy a top of the range projector systems and continue to enjoy my discs and I suspect many others will do likewise. Please do not let my rant distract you from all the good things that this dvd offers.

Fairytale revisionism

I consider the first Maleficent as the single most successful and most interesting among Disney’s strong of live action productions. That movies provided a very attractive backstory with a redeeming twist to the well known fairy tale source material. The vision and effects were magnificent and Angela Jolie in the lead role couldn’t be better. But the best aspect, looking back at the other endless stream of Disney live action remakes movies so far; it had something new to tell. In this second instalment of what might become a franchise, there is even another impressive female antagonist, the evil queen , played by Michelle Pieffer to complete the the trio of feminists lead characters. Aurora has naturally progressed to the role of Queen of the Moors and she and Maleficent work closely to unite the human and fairy realms. A dinner with Aurora’s parents in-law and Maleficent present turns into a disastrous event for the latter, she gets hurt and has to be and rescued by other dark fairy. This leads to an excessive amount of subplots and themes, in the end the movie veers a bit between sitcom comedy and a more heavy handed story about genocide - which probably was a bit too demanding for the professional critics that generally disliked this movie. So the main drawback of this seemingly big production movie is that the there is an unclear direction of the storyline, that therefore feels a bit incoherent which in the end distracts from subtle fairytale storytelling. However it is not that our children noticed this. They very much enjoyed it, and didn’t question the story and events at all. And the the movie remains very entertaining to watch with the family. Similar to its predecessor it is a breathtaking visual extravaganza to enjoy. We bought the 3D version that on a high-end tv screen really draws you deeper into the magic. The movie looks spectacular again, the costumes stunning. Angelina Jolie, not my favourite actress, shines in this role. And once more this episode about the horned mistress of the fairies brings back some very welcome originality to the Disney live action movies. Four stars.

A DELIGHTFUL AND MAGICAL FANTASY DRAMA

Angelina Jolie revisits her role as Maleficent in this part two of Disney's offering. Five years have passed since King Stefan's death since when Aurora (Elle Fanning) has ruled the magical kingdom of the moors, a place protected by the powerful Maleficent down the years. During this time Aurora and Prince Philip have become close, Philip (Harris Dickinson) proposes marriage, Aurora accepts, however, the news is not greeted well by Maleficent, she does not trust those in power in the kingdom of Ulstead. Though Queen Ingrith (Michelle Pfeiffer) and husband King John (Robert Lindsay) seem to welcome their son's proposal to Aurora, King John sees it at uniting two kingdoms, the Queen has other motives however. There will be a falling out at the celebration banquet, after being accused of a crime she did not commit, Maleficent causing chaos fly's out of the castle, however, a trap has been laid by Queen Ingrith. Maleficent will be saved by one of her own kind a Dark Fey. She will be taken to the caves the Dark Fey's kingdom these days having been driven from their lands by humans. Queen Ingrith has been plotting war, with what she sees as a weakness of her husband now under a sleep-spell she will set about destroying all that is dear to Aurora and her Godmother which will she hopes invite an attack from the Dark Fey which given their numbers is a battle they cannot win? Who is really the evil-one? Will Maleficent prevail? Will Prince Phillip and Aurora marry? This is a magnificent spectacle on the 4k format with the picture quality greatly enhanced. I did feel the film to be quite dark and would advise caution for younger viewers.

Top-notch 3D fully realizes a magical story

The 3D is top-notch: great depth, fine resolution, and (when appropriate) protrusion out of the screen. Viewed on a large wall screen projected in 3D with full surround sound one is immersed in a completely realized world. Each magical creature is not a 2D image but a 3D real creature. This is what 3D was made for: pulling you into beautifully detailed places you've not been (and can't otherwise) visit. To all those who produced this fine 3D product: Bravo! The 3D version is worth watching many times over.

I’m fortunate to have a dedicated cinema room and one of my favourite dvds is maleficent I have watched it at least 50 times maleficent 2 is complete and utter rubbish I could just about watch the film but my pleasure is my surround sound system and the sound on this dvd is the worst I have heard on any dvd they should be ashamed the people involved with the sound for this film and why make it so dim the beginning is almost unwatchable don’t bother.
