YouTube star Lizzy Wurst and her friend Sabrina felt the heat after accepting a challenge to eat the world’s spiciest chili pepper, and the results aren’t pretty. After each bit into a Carolina Reaper — which, at 2,200,000 SHUs, is over 800 times hotter than a jalapeño — they faced side effects ranging from rashes and overheating to drooling and vomiting.

Two friends from New Jersey attempted to consume the world's hottest chili peppers, but their stunt ended with disastrous results as one ended up throwing up while the other had an asthma attack and almost passed out.
Sabrina Stewart, 22, and Lizzy Wurst, 18, were excited to try the chili tasting challenge which would see the two teenagers consume an entire Carolina Reaper pepper.
The pepper measures an eye-watering 2.2 million units on the Scoville heat scale, compared to a mere 30,000 in the average red chili, or 300 times hotter than Tabasco sauce.
Sabrina, left, and Lizzy, right, decided to take the the Carolina Reaper challenge
Within seconds the effects could be felt sending both girls writhing in agony
At one point Sabrina, craving some relief, ended up pouring a bottle of water over herself
The Scoville scale is the measurement of the spicy heat (pungency) of chilli peppers or other spicy foods.
Created by American pharmacist Wilbur Scoville in 1912, the Scoville Organoleptic Test records heat units based on the concentration of capsaicin - an active component of the pepper.
Zero is bland, and a regular jalapeno pepper registers around 5,000 on the Scoville scale.
Carolina Reapers comes in at 1,569,300 Scoville Heat Units, with an individual pepper measured at 2.2 million. Pepper spray weighs in at about 2 million Scoville Units.
Eating an entire Carolina Reaper can cause profuse sweating, vomiting, stomach cramps, and an extreme burning sensation from the tongue to the stomach.
The confidence displayed by both the girls appeared to disappear as quickly as the heat from the chili arrived.
The effect was immediate. Lizzy began a coughing fit, while Sabrina was left struggling to breathe and convulsing on the bench they were sitting on.
Within seconds the girls' faces contorted and they squirmed in their seats as the agony of the hot pepper hit.
Speaking to DailyMail.com, Lizzy told of the frightening sensation she felt within seconds of biting into the pepper.
'It felt like a fire burst in my mouth. I burned the roof of my mouth so that felt extremely weird and painful. On a scale from 1/10 it's 1,000,000! It was so hard to handle! It was one of the worst feelings I have ever experienced.'
Lizzy's chest began to burn and her entire face started to glow red
Sabrina appeared to have an asthma attack and had trouble breathing
At one stage she appeared to have passed out on the bed and needed extra Oxygen
Looking for any kind of relief, Sabrina poured a bottle of water over her mouth and then began to cry, with black tears streaming down her face as her make-up smudged.
Both girls let out screams of agony but it is Sabrina who came off worst as she struggled to breath and needed the help of an inhaler and breathing equipment after eating the super spicy chili.
The burning sensation eventually subsided for both daredevils after around half an hour, but the pain lasted for at least another hour which also saw both girls throwing up and enduring severe stomach cramps.
'This was the worst idea ever,' one of the girls says. 'The burn will not go away.'
It was all too much for Lizzy who burst into tears as the burning sensation continued
Sabrina went into convultions as the pain grew more intense as she undertook the challenge
Lizzy told DailyMail.com that only by drinking copious amounts of milk did the pain lessen somewhat. However, it took around five minutes of consuming the white stuff before any real effect was felt.
She was also left with blisters on the roof of her mouth and down her throat.
The Carolina Reaper has been rated as the world's hottest chilli pepper since 2013 and it doesn't look like these girls will be attempting to eat it again anytime soon.
The video of their painful plight has racked up an incredible 1.7 million views on YouTube.
'I would never recommend anyone to try this because it could be worse for them. I could've really gotten hurt and I'm thankful I didn't. This is too extreme for anyone to try,' said Lizzy.
As of 2013, Guinness has dubbed it as the hottest pepper in the world at 2.2 million Scoville units
The Carolina Reaper peppers have a stem which looks like the tail of a scorpion and a bumpy, oily, fire-engine red fruit.
Their punch of heat is nearly as potent as most pepper sprays used by police. It's hot enough to leave even the most seasoned spicy food aficionado crimson-faced, flushed with sweat, trying not to lose their lunch.
In November 2013, The Guinness Book of World Records decided California Reapers were the hottest on Earth.
The heat of the peppers was certified by students at Winthrop University who test food as part of their undergraduate classes.
The girls both agreed that it really wasn't a very good idea whatsoever to attempt it!
