Little Hole Trail Map

Site Designed and Hosted by Go-Utah.com and GTS Webdesign.com

This well used path wanders along the edge of the Green River as it re-emerges from Flaming Gorge Dam. Wildly popular with fishermen, it is also a family delight. The river is framed by towering canyon walls and stately ponderosa pine. Wildlife abounds along the trail from raptors to river otters. The trail is so scenic, it received a National Scenic Trail designation shortly after its creation.
From Vernal, travel north on Hwy 191 about 36 miles to its intersection with UT Hwy 44. At the well-signed intersection, turn right (you will actually still be on Hwy 191) and travel another 10 miles. Immediately after crossing over Flaming Gorge Dam, a turn right on the Spillway Boatramp road.  It will take you down to the access parking area. One needs to park several hundred feet above the river and walk a few minutes down a well traveled series of switchbacks to the boat launch ramp. The trail begins here just past the restrooms. Please remember that a Recreation Pass is required for parking. The fairly level trail wanders along under towering red rock cliffs.
