The Sugarloaf Women's Village, about 17 miles (27 km) from Key West, is a lush island sanctuary for women only. Operating seasonally, the clothing-optional resort features a state-of-the-arts dance club and weekend events that include beauty pageants, an illuminated golf cart Pride parade, bear hunts and a trailer trash weekend. It caters primarily to men, offering accommodations ranging from tents to lodges, but lesbians are also welcome.
Camp Mars in South Central Florida offers a taste of how the Sunshine State used to be before developers took over. Guests can enjoy 40 acres (16 ha) of live oaks, tropical foliage and nature trails meandering by ponds and a creek. Hunting and fishing are big pastimes around the neighborhood. Accommodations run from rudimentary tents to full hookup RV sites to unique cabins, including a yurt with queen bed. It has occasional themed weekends and a clothing-optional swimming pool.
In the Russian River Wine Country 90 minutes north of San Francisco, the Highlands Resort offers summer camping in a meadow if you bring your own tent. The year around resort, which dates from the 1920s and "came out" in 1980, nestles in three acres (c. 1 ha) of mature redwood trees and gardens in a residential neighborhood only four blocks from gay bars in the village. Early 1940s cabins - many with fireplaces - retain much of their original charm, undisturbed by telephones, TV or radios. It makes available basic WiFi but no streaming video. Nude sunbathing is popular around the pool and hot tub. Most guests are LGBT, but it is straight-owned and straight friends are welcomed.
Founded in 1986, the adults-only Windover Women's Resort offers a seasonal retreat with hiking trails, a heated pool and a 24-hour club house equipped with pool table, big screen TV, fireplace and cellphone reception. Lodging options include tenting areas, RV hookups, rental trailers and cabins, all peaceful and well maintained. In the heart of the Thumb Area on Michigan's Lower Peninsula, the resort is close to golfing, boating, fishing and recreational water sports. Socializing takes place around Friday night community fires, the newly installed multi-sports court and special weekend activities. Big off-site events are the annual golf outing in June, the Women on Wheels weekend in July (novice to experienced riders) and the kayak and canoe weekend in August.
Two hours north by car from Atlanta, The River's Edge is a gay-owned and -populated, clothing optional camping ground. Rent an RV or tent or bring your own. Cabins are also available as well as a slew of traditional campsite-extras such as warm showers and a mess hall. There is a membership fee and then rates for additional guests. Known as "Lumberjack's Camping Resort" under previous owners, it has a 4000 square feet (37 m2) bar and night club as well as miles of trails. Membership - by day or by year - is limited to over-21 campers, most of whom are males with an average age of 40-50. Women and straight couples are welcomed, but some weekends are guys only. You can stay over in a tent, cabin or RV or as a day tripper. The rustic site has plenty of creature comforts, but you'd do well to bring some gnat spray for your encounter with nature. The campground is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, November through February.
The Woods is a clothing-optional campground in the Pocono Mountains, 77 miles (c. 125 km) north of Philadelphia. The secluded getaway for gays and lesbians offers a variety of camping accommodations and attracts roughly half singles, half couples and a broad mix of ages though you'll find plenty of college-educated younger men here. Its 160 acres (65 ha) offer a four-acre lake for paddle boating, nature trails, streams, sand-court volleyball tournaments, a camp store and club house with cafe and dance club. A new membership is required each season. Accessible by bus from Philadelphia and New York City.

Now around 150 properties thrive in the US, some requiring memberships, often a nominal fee. Gay Camping USA offers a "Friends with Privileges" discount membership program for affiliated camps. In northern climes, campgrounds are seasonal, but it's year-round fun and adventure travel in the south and west. Camping with lesbians is not like camping with straight people. To start, there’s jello wrestling. At least there was at the PDX Lesbian Network campout last weekend at Milo McIver State Park .
When she heard I was coming off the road due to Olive’s health , Danielle del Prado, the PDX Lesbian Network campout organizer reached out to me to ask if I wanted to attend. She had an open spot from a cancelation to this year’s sold-out event. I jumped at the chance.
The lesbian campout was just 45 minutes from Portland on the Clackamas River. Danielle did a wonderful job organizing. Each of the 53 sites coordinated an event for the weekend. I invited my friend Claire and her cute golden retriever puppy Honeybee.
It was so great to be around people after a year of avoiding them. Camping comes in many forms. Sometimes you sneak off way in the woods to get away from it all. Sometimes you bring all your friends and family along and sometimes you head out to meet up with a bunch of people you’ve never met.
I offered to do a workshop for solo women travelers. Danielle added on a tour of Squeaky. Good thing I cleaned before I headed out. Jello wrestling was by far the most popular event. How fun to see laughing lesbians, rolling around in a baby pool of bright red jello, competing for a Home Depot gift certificate. It was slippery and raucous and just what we needed after being cooped up for almost a year due to Covid.
I missed the corn hole tournament because I was out kayaking on Estacada Lake, which was just a few steps from our campsite. I did play Wine-O. A bingo game that involved wine. I won a bottle. Each night we danced in the dusty dusk.
I took Claire’s dog to the Talent Show while she went off to visit with friends. The organizer was quite persistent trying to get me to sign up for some sort of talent, but I declined. So imagine my surprise, when the emcee called my name. “Up next, Kathy with dog tricks.” I was a little flummoxed but decided to be a good sport and went up on stage with Honeybee, who is only about 7 months old and tried to get her to at least sit. When she finally did, I was met with loud applause. I took a bow and took my seat, wondering, who did this to me? Who signed me up? Just as I was getting seated, another woman stood up with her very talented Corgi who actually performed tricks. Whoops. Another Kathy in the mix. Ha. I had a good story to share the rest of the weekend.
My campsite was great. It was large with full shade and electric and water. There’s a dump station in the park. I’d highly recommend Milo McIver as a place to camp whether overrun with lesbians or not. There’s the river for floats, the lake for kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. There’s hiking and horse trails and a full disc golf course.
A few days after the event, Danielle let us know that she secured the campground again for next year and it’s already 85% sold out. I can’t wait!

I’ve been waking up with anxiety lately. I gave my notice at work and selected a “hit the road” date. I’ve saved enough money for at least eight months on the road. I’m getting my house ready to rent and going to go live in my RV fulltime until the money runs out, I get…
Note: I wrote this blog a few days ago and am just getting it posted now. As I write Silver Falls State Park has been evacuated due to forest fire danger. Praying she gets spared. A few other Oregon State Parks were not so lucky. My time at Silver Falls has come to an end….

During a love scene, the Warden's panties re-appear and then disappear.
Creative and erotic Lloyd A. Simandl film!
If you've seen ONE of these Lloyd A. Simandl flicks you already know what's going to happen in THIS one. They all follow the same basic pattern. Beautiful young east European women are enslaved and eventually sold off by a slightly older lesbian who also likes to occasionally play with the girls herself. Klara Hlouska plays the lesbian warden in this one, and she's quite good in that role. Her female guards also enjoy playing with the girls when they're off duty, and that's where this one gets really erotic. There's a scene where two of them (played by Vladimira Kopal & Alzbeta Ceruskova) return after lights out to the room where the girls sleep, and proceed to awaken two of the pretty young women and enjoy their lovely young bodies! It's got a dominant/submissive feel that's very erotic and enjoyable to watch! There's a plot that I really don't remember, but who really cares about the plot? Not me!
