Koh Lanta buying powder

And at first I did not like this. Koh Lanta has a lot going on with its beautiful unspoilt beaches, incredible sunsets, amazing bars, authentic Thai markets and even Muay Thai competition shows. It really has the best of both worlds. I think visiting Koh Lanta for one or two days is a bad idea, personally I think that to really see the island and what it has to offer you need to stay for a minimum of four nights. One of my favourite things about Koh Lanta is the many markets that they have. Today for e. Whilst my boyfriend was buying fish I was literally standing watching a guy cut off the face of a pig sorry for the crudeness. One of my best nights in Lanta, parties and stuff included, was probably at the night market in Saladan. Back home in Scotland we have a market every Sunday called the Sunday market and the night market reminds me so much of it, only its at night time. You also have many clothes stalls with such good deals on nice clothing, most of my new clothes have actually been bought from the markets in Lanta, the majority of it is really good quality, vintage, clothing for such a cheap price. As Koh Lanta is a pretty big island there are a lot of beautiful unspoilt beaches scattered around. Lanta is quite a long and narrow island and it has about 12 beaches, the most popular being- Klong Dao beach, Long beach, Khlong Kong beach and Klong Nin beach. My absolute favourite has to be Nui Bay , I only discovered this beach about a month ago when my friend showed me, not even taxi drivers know where it is. The other day I just sat looking around, in front of me was a beautiful bluey green sea, to my right was a strip of beautiful white sand, to my left a family of cows and behind me a tiny bar selling only fresh fruit and water. With only about five other people there I really felt like I was sat in paradise. It has a strip of relaxing bars and restaurants, a few little shops and beautiful powdery sand. I recommend going to Sans Sunset bar and Funky Fish bar as both restaurants offer good drinks, good food and a nice place to relax by the seaside. However, if you want to find a more tranquil beach with less people I really recommend Bamboo Bay. The only way to access this beach is by taxi or motorbike. When the sea is down you are left with a rocky strip of sand and are unable to swim. However, when the sea finally does come up the beach looks a lot more pleasing and a lot more beautiful. It has to be the coolest beach on the island, with its many reggae style bars it has a real tropical island feel to it. Whilst swimming in the sea one day my sister said to me that it has to have one of the most beautiful and interesting coast lines.. My last post is kind of leading me on to the bars and night life in Koh Lanta. Everyone that works in this bar are like family to me, they made me feel so welcome when I first arrived.. I was so shy and nervous and they quickly brought me out my shell and made me feel so comfortable. When I first arrived in Lanta, Hippies bar was just a shack with nothing inside, over the months I have watched these guys build an incredible bar with there bare hands. Unlike so many other bars this bar is not only about money, they genuinely care about every person that walks in and if you come you will see that. Every now and again we have a live band, mostly reggae bands, and when we do the bar is completely packed with people dancing and chatting and drinking.. Generally, the same as Freedom bar, Mushroom bar has a fireshow, DJ, body paint etc, although every now and again Freedom bar also have a snake show. That, again, is really not my cup of tea. But I have to admit it can be fun sometimes to go a bit wild and get super drunk and come home with body paint all over you and your clothes , so I understand why people do it from time to time. My favourite bar on the whole island excluding Hippies bar has to be Treehouse bar , whenever someone asks me to recommend a good bar to go to this is the first bar I say. It is literally a bar that has been built in the tree tops, the dance floor has been created around a big tree trunk which is now growing through the bar.. How cool is that?? On Sunday and Wednesday nights they have big parties with a live band, d. And lots of dancing. We all went here for my birthday, there was a band, a surprise cake and so much dancing, my boyfriend literally did not stop until the last song. I also like that that the bands are always different, one week it could be a reggae band and the next it could be a contemporary band. Another awesome bar, which is situated on Klong Nin beach in the North of the island, is Rasta Baby bar. My boyfriend is always telling me that this is his favourite bar on the island. This bar also hosts parties every Friday and Tuesday night, because Koh Lanta is a big island with not many tourists the bars have to choose their nights to have parties, otherwise a party will only have about ten people.. Which sucks. Generally, a party night at Rasta Baby will have a band and a live D. Anyway, one time in Rasta Baby bar Job2do played here and it was so busy, they extended the bar onto the beach and it was like a real gig, one of the best nights.. I did go one time, tickets are about baht. My boyfriend and I stayed for about an hour before going to the Treehouse Bar. It was an interesting experience but a lot the time was spent with my eyes half shut, it is a brutal sport and the men competing do look very thin. However, it is an important sport in Thailand and the atmosphere in the stadium was incredible.. If possible, when in Koh Lanta you have to visit Old Twown. I have to say one thing, if you do, like many people, decide to rent a motorbike on Koh Lanta please be careful. I used to drive a little even though I have no license, but I stopped when I kept on continuously seeing accidents, some of which turned out to be fatal. A popular restaurant in Lanta is one that is right next door to Hippies bar called Cloud 9. The food is also really good and very nicely presented, I definitely recommend the Tempura Chicken and Penang curry, the fruit shakes are also very good. This is a smaller restaurant with the loveliest hosts ever. Everything from the menu to the decor is so well thought out and the food is delicious. It has a smaller menu with a perfect variety between Thai and western food. There is only one chef so, literally, hats off to the chef for her amazing work! One last thing I have to mention about Koh Lanta is the best time of year to go, when I first moved here, which was in October it was really dead with nothing much going on. About the middle of November is when it began picking up and the weather also got better aka less rain more sun. Right now is high season and for high season I still find it to be pretty quiet, which is maybe one of the good things about Koh Lanta. So sorry this post has taken so long, I suddenly became very busy this month and had no time to write. Skip to content. Share this: Twitter Facebook. My Morning Routine on Koh Lanta — Thailand

Koh Lanta buying powder

Koh Lanta in Thailand is known for quiet, secluded beaches, amazingly clear water, lush rainforest, and laid-back vibes. I spent three weeks on the island of Koh Lanta and I absolutely loved it. During my holiday, I explored the whole island by motorbike, visited all major beaches, went island hopping, explored the rain- and mangrove forests, and tried out countless restaurants. Note: Your trust is important to me. There are no extra costs for you, but it helps me keep this blog ad-free. Thank you! Before you start planning your holiday in Koh Lanta, I want to give you a quick overview of what to expect when visiting the island:. Although Koh Lanta is not necessarily a destination for an action-packed holiday, there are still some great places to visit and things to see. The best thing about Koh Lanta are the beautiful beaches the island has to offer. While the beaches in the north are more crowded, the southern beaches are some of the best in all of Thailand! The nightlife in Koh Lanta is very laid-back — especially compared to busier places like Phi Phi. Still, the island does offer a low-key nightlife scene and there are plenty of bars, where you can grab casual drinks. Tip: Watch out for signs advertising nightly events! Oftentimes, you can watch fire shows on the beach or head to a bar for live music, for example, Rasta Bar. As a foodie, I tried out plenty of restaurants during my stay in Koh Lanta. These are my favorite places to eat:. The restaurant cooks up fresh seafood every night, but they also have great vegetarian options. My favorite dish here was the Penang Curry, which has a creamy sauce and a nutty flavor mixed with a variety of spices like kaffir lime leaf and ginger. I recommend heading here for an early dinner, so you can enjoy the sunset while you eat and take advantage of Baht happy hour cocktails from 5 to 7 pm. My favorite dish here is the Tom Ka Coconut Soup my preference is chicken, but you can also order it vegetarian or with seafood , which is creamy and has a refreshing light flavor. Other than that, you can find the usual Thai dishes here and some great appetizers like Tempura and Spicy Seafood Salad. Viewpoint Restaurant is located on a hill on the East Coast of Koh Lanta, from where you have a spectacular view of the islands in the bay. Last but not least, there are also plenty of street food restaurants in Koh Lanta , which are worth exploring! Though you can expect one thing: In Thailand, the street food is almost always good! In restaurants, you should expect to pay 80 — Baht appr. Seafood is typically more expensive than meaty dishes or vegetarian meals. To help you in this regard, I visited plenty of hotels and guest houses and put together an article on my 10 favorite budget-friendly accommodations in Koh Lanta. As a general rule of thumb, I would recommend choosing a place in the center or south of Koh Lanta. The northern part of the island is more busy, but the towns are not really that aesthetic. The further south you get, the more beautiful the nature becomes. Cost of accommodation in Koh Lanta: The cost of accommodation in Koh Lanta highly depends on the type of accommodation you choose. Still, Koh Lanta is one of the best places for getting good value for money when booking a place to stay. Of course, you can also find more expensive luxury resorts, but in my experience, you can find many great accommodations on the island for Baht or less appr. Budget rooms cost about Baht appr. Note: The prices for transportation and departure times listed in this post may change without my knowledge. So, make sure to double-check this information yourself on 12GoAsia or ask a local tourism agency! However, the price also depends on the season and bikes could be more expensive during high season. Still, if you rent the bike for several days at a time, you can often lower the price. Also, in some areas, it might be difficult to find one. Koh Lanta tips for safety on the road: When driving yourself, watch out for potholes in the north of the island. In the south, the roads are much better. Still, always be prepared for monkeys or dogs who might be blocking the road! The best time to visit Koh Lanta is during the dry season between January and April. Although you should always be prepared for casual showers when traveling to Thailand, these months are usually the driest. A lot of people travel to Koh Lanta for Christmas and New Year, so if you plan a holiday around this time, you should make sure to book accommodation in advance! Yes, Koh Lanta is a safe place to visit for tourists! The locals are friendly and welcoming and crime rates are low. Still, there are a few things, you should be aware of:. To explore the whole island, you should plan to stay at least days in Koh Lanta. However, if you want to explore the island thoroughly and relax at the same time, you can easily spend a week here or even longer. Koh Phi Phi is one of the most beautiful places in Thailand with stunning beaches, blue water, and breathtaking limestone formations. The nature may not be as impressive as on the neighboring island Phi Phi, but it has a more laid-back vibe. The north of the island is more busy and filled with restaurants and shops, while the south is less crowded and more untouched. Most people who are coming to Koh Lanta are looking to get away from the crowds and just want to relax at quiet beaches. Yes, you can snorkel in Koh Lanta. Although the snorkeling is not that good on the main island of Koh Lanta Yai, you can organize a boat to take you to Koh Haa and Koh Rok. These two islands are known for good snorkeling spots with supposedly amazing corals. The island is home to gorgeous beaches, there are many great places to eat, and if you want to get active, you can go on short jungle hikes, or go on boat trips to the surrounding islands. Hi Lena, thanks for this amazing guide! We are travelling to Koh Lanta for 7 days this weekend, how much Baht would you advise we bring per person, please? Thank you for the feedback! As an estimate, I would say if you have paid for accommodation already an extra to Baht per person per day would be good. There are also multiple ATMs on the island, so you can also start with a little less money and take out more if needed. I hope I could help! Great guide Lena!!! Loads of useful info in one place.
