Kasey Kahne Announces Comeback to Dirt Track Racing in 2025

CONCORD, N.C. — Former NASCAR star and fan favorite Kasey Kahne has announced his return to competitive racing, but this time, he’s heading back to his roots: dirt track racing.

Kahne, 44, revealed on social media that he will compete in select World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series events later this year, driving for his own team, Kasey Kahne Racing (KKR). The Washington native has remained active in dirt racing since retiring from full-time NASCAR competition in 2018 but has largely focused on team ownership in recent years.

'I’ve missed being behind the wheel more than I thought I would,' Kahne said in a statement. 'Dirt racing has always been my first love, and I’m excited to get back out there and compete with some of the best drivers in the world.'

Kahne, a 18-time NASCAR Cup Series winner, has an impressive dirt track résumé, including multiple wins in USAC and World of Outlaws competition. His return has sparked excitement among fans, with many speculating whether he could contend for a victory against current stars like Donny Schatz and David Gravel.

KKR will field a second car for Kahne alongside full-time driver James McFadden. The team has not yet announced which races Kahne will enter, but sources suggest he could debut as early as June at Wisconsin’s Beaver Dam Raceway.

'Kasey’s still got it,' said fellow dirt racer Brad Sweet. 'He’s been testing, and he’s plenty fast. It’s going to be fun racing against him again.'

Kahne’s return adds another layer of intrigue to an already thrilling 2025 dirt racing season. Whether he can add to his legacy with another win remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: fans will be watching.
