Jonathan Groff Returns to Broadway in Highly Anticipated New Musical

New York, NY – April 28, 2025 – Tony Award-nominated actor and Hamilton alum Jonathan Groff is set to make his triumphant return to Broadway this fall in an original musical titled Radiant Days, producers announced today.

The new production, penned by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Michael R. Jackson (A Strange Loop) and featuring music by indie-pop sensation Sara Bareilles, will mark Groff’s first leading Broadway role since his acclaimed performance in Little Shop of Horrors in 2020.

Radiant Days is described as a 'time-hopping, genre-blending love story' following a struggling artist in 1980s New York who discovers a mysterious connection to a queer activist in the present day. Groff will play dual lead roles, showcasing his signature charm and vocal prowess.

'I’m beyond thrilled to be back on stage, especially with material this bold and heartfelt,' Groff said in a statement. 'Michael and Sara have created something truly special, and I can’t wait to share it with audiences.'

The news comes on the heels of Groff’s recent Emmy nomination for his role in the hit Netflix series Mindhunter, which was unexpectedly revived for a third season last year. Despite his busy screen career, Groff has frequently expressed his love for theater, telling The New York Times last month, 'Live performance is where I feel most alive.'

Previews for Radiant Days begin October 12 at the Shubert Theatre, with an official opening night set for November 6. Tickets go on sale next week—and given Groff’s devoted fanbase, they’re expected to sell out fast.
