New York Jets Defensive Coordinator Jeff Ulbrich Named NFL Assistant Coach of the Year

Florham Park, NJ — January 12, 2025 — In a stunning recognition of his leadership and strategic brilliance, New York Jets defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich has been named the 2024 NFL Assistant Coach of the Year by the Associated Press.

Ulbrich, who took over as the Jets' defensive play-caller in 2021, orchestrated one of the league's most dominant defenses this season. Under his guidance, the Jets finished top-three in total defense, leading the NFL in sacks (56) and turnovers forced (32). His aggressive, yet disciplined scheme transformed a once-inconsistent unit into a powerhouse, propelling the Jets to their first playoff appearance in four years.

Head coach Robert Saleh praised Ulbrich’s impact: 'Jeff is the heartbeat of our defense. His ability to adapt, motivate, and put players in positions to succeed is second to none. This award is well-deserved.'
