Jonathan Groff Returns to Broadway in Highly Anticipated New Musical

New York, NY – April 27, 2025

Tony Award-nominated actor and Hamilton alum Jonathan Groff is set to make his triumphant return to Broadway this fall in an original musical titled Echoes of Us, producers announced today.

The new production, written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Michael R. Jackson (A Strange Loop) and composed by Tom Kitt (Next to Normal), is described as a 'genre-defying love story set against the backdrop of a rapidly changing world.' Groff will star as Julian Hart, a disillusioned journalist navigating love, identity, and political upheaval in the 21st century.

Groff, who last appeared on Broadway in Little Shop of Horrors (2019), expressed his excitement in a statement: 'This role feels like the perfect homecoming. The music, the story, the creative team—it’s all a dream. I can’t wait to share this with audiences.'

The musical will begin previews at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on October 12, with an official opening night set for November 6.

Fans of Groff—known for his roles in Mindhunter, Frozen, and Glee—are already buzzing about his return to the stage. Social media erupted with excitement, with one fan tweeting, 'JONATHAN GROFF BACK ON BROADWAY IS WHAT WE DESERVE!'

With tickets expected to sell out quickly, theatergoers are advised to mark their calendars for the on-sale date, announced for next month.
