Jeff Skinner Signs Multi-Year Extension with Buffalo Sabres

Buffalo, NY – May 30, 2025 – The Buffalo Sabres have secured a key piece of their offensive core, signing veteran forward Jeff Skinner to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced today.

Skinner, 33, has been a consistent scoring threat since joining the Sabres in 2018. After a resurgent 2023-24 season where he tallied 35 goals and 28 assists, Skinner proved he remains a vital part of Buffalo’s push toward playoff contention.

'Jeff brings elite skill, leadership, and a relentless work ethic to our group,' said Sabres General Manager Kevyn Adams. 'His ability to produce offensively and mentor our younger players makes him an invaluable part of this organization.'

The financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed, but sources indicate it is a three-year extension with an average annual value (AAV) near $6 million. Skinner’s previous contract, an eight-year, $72 million deal signed in 2019, was set to expire after the 2026-27 season.

A former Calder Trophy winner (2011) and three-time 40-goal scorer, Skinner has 386 goals and 336 assists in 1,012 career NHL games with the Carolina Hurricanes and Sabres.

Fans in Buffalo celebrated the news, hopeful that Skinner’s extension signals the team’s commitment to building a competitive roster around core players like Tage Thompson, Rasmus Dahlin, and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.
