BREAKING NEWS: Indy 500 Lineup Revealed – Defending Champion Palou Leads Pack, Rookie Sensation Thompson Shocks with P4 Start

Speedway, IN – May 25, 2025 – The starting grid for the 108th running of the Indianapolis 500 has been set after a thrilling qualifying weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the lineup promises one of the most competitive races in history.

Defending champion Alex Palou (Chip Ganassi Racing) will lead the field to the green flag after securing the pole position with a blistering four-lap average speed of 234.217 mph, edging out Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden by just 0.076 seconds.

'It’s an incredible feeling,' Palou said. 'The car was perfect, and the team gave me everything I needed. But the real work starts next Sunday.'

Rookie Sensation: Liam Thompson, the 22-year-old phenom driving for Arrow McLaren, stunned the paddock by qualifying 4th in his first-ever Indy 500 attempt. 'I’m just trying to soak it all in,' Thompson said. 'This place is magical.'

Penske Power: Team Penske locked out the second row, with Josef Newgarden (P2), Scott McLaughlin (P3), and Will Power (P5) all in contention.

Herta’s Heartbreak: Andretti Global’s Colton Herta narrowly missed the Fast 12 and will start 13th, while teammate Kyle Kirkwood landed in 7th.

Last-Chance Drama: Fan favorite Marco Andretti (Andretti Global) barely made the field, securing the 33rd and final spot in a dramatic last-minute run.
