The Mirror's investigation has found the streets of Ibiza, are rife with Tusi, a deadly new drug which has already claimed the life of a year-old on the Spanish mainland. A Mirror investigation today reveals how Tusi, also known as pink cocaine, is rife in bars and clubs. We joined some of the , UK holidaymakers who hit the Balearic Island each year and saw a shocking open trade in the new substance. It is being brazenly offered alongside regular coke, ecstasy and laughing gas. Experts are particularly concerned about Tusi, which has claimed the life of a year-old on the Spanish mainland. It is a combination of a form of ecstasy called MDMA, tranquilliser ketamine, occasionally cocaine — but usually caffeine — and bright pink dye. Authorities in Ibiza have successfully raided gangs selling drugs such as cocaine and Tusi. But it seems this is little deterrent. Strolling towards the venue, which regularly plays host to big-name DJs like Calvin Harris, David Guetta and Swedish House Mafia, it was not long before our reporter was approached by a dealer. These men also had Tusi, which originates in Colombia and is seen as a high-class party drug similar to cocaine. Users have no idea of the ratios within the drug — and mixing it with alcohol can be highly dangerous. For example, if it has a high ketamine content, this can raise the risk of blackouts and cause a lack of co-ordination when mixed with alcohol. If it contains more MDMA, when combined with booze, this can lead to dehydration, increasing the risk of heatstroke. Spanish authorities launched a campaign warning people about the health risks of the drug, which include heart problems and panic attacks. You can have a taste before you buy it. Selling drugs is illegal and can lead to jail. It is partly why Britons in Ibiza are also less fearful about indulging in public. Outside a bar in San Antonio, we watched a British man at a nearby table pour a pile of white powder on his hand from a tiny bag then sniff it. A number of British tourists have died in Ibiza from drug overdoses. Young Britons working on the island can easily fall into selling drugs and many club reps top up their meagre paypackets by doing so. Spain has banned the sale of nitrous oxide for recreational use, warning it can cause suffocation, hallucinations and even cardiac arrest. Dealers usually hide shortly before police arrive.
