ICOGURU Analytics Research: Who is the most profitable crypto expert? Chapter #2

At the end of August, I wrote the first part of this research where the profitability of ICO experts has been analyzed. Each of the experts had 70-80 ICOs, on average. I have started the second chapter and realized that other experts do not have so many projects like those in the first part. Due to that, I decided to split my content into 2 different articles:
- Experts with a significant number of ICOs to analyze (35+ ICOs)
- Experts who have only 15-20 ICOs to analyze in average
In this article, I have analyzed the following list of experts:
Methodology and analyzed metrics left the same as they were in the first part of the research. As before, I took only projects which have been graded by the expert and compared their financial results. Below you will see my own opinion and interpretation described in charts and numbers. If you would like to see the raw data, check out the working table. I think it’s the best time to get down to the analysis!
CoinBloq
He is an independent researcher from the United Kingdom. Mostly active on YouTube, his channel has almost 27k subscribers and more than 600k views in total.
Input data:
- Number of the projects analyzed: 87
- To do comparisons, I have translated all CoinBloq’s grades into a single system: Cash Cow = 5; Bullish = 4; Neutral = 3; Negative = 2. There are no other grades at CoinBloq’s spreadsheet, so there won’t be projects with the grade below 2 (Negative).
- Each project in this report has been graded by CoinBloq.
Analyzed metrics:
- Average time to reach All-Time-High (ATH) price depending on the grade of the project:
5 = 117 days (5 projects) the worst result
4 = 41 days (28 projects)
3 = 37 days (51 projects) the best result
2 = 64 days (3 projects) - 9864.80% of average ROI gained by projects with the highest grade (Cash Cow)
There are only 5 projects with a “Cash Cow” grade and, one of them is Ethos (conducted more than a year ago). It was the hottest time on the market and at the ATH moment, Ethos made 41 800% ROI. That is the reason for so huge difference between grade’s ROI (%).
3. 954.78% - the highest ROI gained by low-capped projects (up to $20M):
Lower capped projects gained bigger profits for their investors. It is a common thing on the market due to the general economic rules. To be as much objective, as possible I want you to know how many projects included in each of the Hard Cap intervals: $40M+ = 15; $20.1M-$39M = 31; $0-$20M = 36;
81.60% of the projects were profitable at the ATH time and only 9.9% of them are still profitable:
It is common for the ICO market to have such a relationship.
4. 1221.94% ROI on average has been gained by ETH-based projects vs. only 463.33% for NEO-based:
There were only 6 ICOs based on the NEO platform vs. 79 ICOs conducted upon the Ethereum Blockchain. That’s why the difference in ROI (%) is so huge.
CoinBloq results:
- Average ATH ROI (%): 1172.55%
- Average current ROI (%): 53.93%
- Average time to reach All-Time-High (ATH) price: 53 days
- 40% of the analyzed projects are working on the creation of the blockchain itself and related services. AVG ATH ROI (%) of these projects is 810.35% and Current AVG ROI (%) is 62.34%
Mandy
Independent crypto expert with a proven track record on his spreadsheet. Mandy is a crypto markets analyst and investor. Also, he provides advisory services to ICO projects.
Input data:
- Number of the projects analyzed: 39
- To do comparisons, I have translated all Mandy’s grades into a single system: 85%-100%= 5; 70%-84% = 4; 60%-69% = 3; There are no more ICOs with a grade lower than 60%-69% included in the report.
- Each project in this analysis has been graded by Mandy.
Analyzed metrics:
- Average time to reach All-Time-High (ATH) price depending on the grade of the project:
85% - 100% = 32 days the best result
70% - 84% = 49 days
60% - 69% = 78 days the worst result - 414.85 % gained by projects with the highest Mandy’s grade:
As you may see, projects graded in a range of 85%-100% have gained higher returns to investors. ROI (%) is not looking so impressive as it is for previously analyzed experts, but Mandy brings stability to that highly volatile crypto world.
Follow my thoughts:
- ATH price, for projects graded higher than 85%, has been reached for 32 days (in average)
- The highest returns (414.85%) have been generated by projects with a grade above 85%.
- Considering other things being equal, Mandy’s annual ROI (%) should be around 4800%
Of course, it’s more a joke than a statement, but if you will have a chance to make 400% in a month, would you miss it? :)))
3. 455.60% has been generated by projects with $40M+ hard cap:
The highest profits have been gained by projects with a significantly big hard cap. By the way, ROI (%) is almost equal to the ones above (approx. 400%). I’ve checked his spreadsheet to determine how many intersected projects amongst those with the highest grade and those with $40M+ hard cap. There are just 2 projects, hence discovered correlation is nothing more than coincidence
4. 66.60% of the analyzed projects where profitable at the ATH time vs. only 10.52% current:
5. 312.15% ROI gained by projects with a token issued on ETH blockchain:
Looks like Mandy doesn’t have any preferences regarding token platform. Moreover, his NEO-based projects (5 in the list) are not the best of all ICOs launched on NEO. I mean that in common sense NEO projects generate more revenues due to the rarity of them at the market.
Mandy results:
- Average ATH ROI (%): 292.62%
- Average current ROI (%): 37.54%
- Average time to reach All-Time-High (ATH) price: 50 days
- 20% of analyzed projects are working on the creation of the blockchain itself. AVG ATH ROI (%) of such projects is 406.50% and Current AVG ROI (%) is 70.13%
Sergio
Is one of the European experts. His most recent investments include Quarkchain and Phantasma. The main occupation is IT-engineer.
Input data:
- Number of the projects analyzed: 38
- To do comparisons, I have translated all Sergio’s grades into a single system: 81%-100%= 5; 70%-80% = 4; 60%-69% = 3; 50%-59% = 2
- Each project in this analysis has been graded by Sergio.
Analyzed metrics:
- Average time to reach All-Time-High (ATH) price depending on the grade of the project:
81% - 100% = 105 days the worst result
70% - 80% = 49 days the best result
60% - 69% = 92 days
50% - 59% = 91 days - 1796.22% such a huge ROI has been generated by projects with grade 80% and higher:
Highly graded projects have such a big ROI mostly because of 3 projects: ICON (+10k%); Cobinhood (+4k%) and Wanchain (+3k%). I'm not saying that other projects with the highest rating did not impact on the ROI, but it was obviously lower.
3. 2368% on average, gained by projects with a hard cap higher than $40M:
Despite common sense, the highest profit has been received from the ICOs with $40M+ Hard Cap and it works fine not only for Sergio but for Mandy and OhHeyMatty too.
4. 86.80% of the analyzed projects where profitable at the ATH time vs. 18.4% at the current time:
5. ROI (%) comparison with respect to the token issuance platform:
In the list of analyzed projects I’ve got only one with a token issued on the platform different from the Ethereum (ETH) - it is Red Pulse (NEO-based). Due to this circumstance, I haven’t made a chart with ROI comparison divided by token platforms.
Sergio results
- Average ATH ROI (%): 1210.47%
- Average current ROI (%): 93.08%
- Average time to reach All-Time-High (ATH) price: 90 days
- 20% of analyzed projects are working on the creation of blockchain services. AVG ATH ROI (%) of such projects is 790.29% and Current AVG ROI (%) is 82.14%
Leaderboard in terms of ROI (%):
- OhHeyMatty: AVG. ATH ROI (%) = 1268.36%; AVG. Current ROI (%) = 144.84% (73 projects)
- Sergio: AVG. ATH ROI (%) = 1210.47%; AVG. Current ROI (%) = 93.08% (38 projects)
- Coin Bloq: AVG. ATH ROI (%) = 1172.55%; AVG. Current ROI (%) = 53.93% (87 projects)
- ICODROPS: AVG. ATH ROI (%) = 1002.37%; AVG. Current ROI (%) = 70.30% (180 projects)
- Crypto Briefing: AVG ATH ROI (%) = 439.60%; AVG Current ROI (%) = 68.20% (35 projects)
- Mandy: AVG ATH ROI (%) = 292.62%; AVG Current ROI (%) = 37.54% (39 projects)

Conclusion
Unfortunately, in this part, I don’t feel that analysis is comprehensive enough, due to the small number of projects in the selection. As I explored, not too many experts evaluate a lot of projects, mostly they are doing valuation just for their personal investment purposes and that’s why in this part I don’t have enough raw data to make any conclusion. The only thing I’m quite sure about is the fact that Mandy prefers a conservative investment approach. I assuming this because alongside with his relatively small ROI (%), he has the shortest period till ATH price moment in general and specifically for top-rated projects. As I mentioned before, if other things are being equal, Mandy’s annual ROI (%) should be around 4800% (!!!)
It was the 2nd part of the research and only one left. It will be the smallest part in terms of a number of analyzed ICOs. I will do my best to finish it till the end of the week and there will be also 3 experts: MMCrypto; Wolf Crypto and Pantera.
