I used to tell myself I needed a neat space to think and that my house was a reflection of my brain.
Now I know that I can write anywhere, that to think I need nothing and that it’s my brain that is a reflection of my brain, not my surroundings.
It’s the laundry that can get done later, not my writing. I don’t postpone pleasure. I don’t postpone doing what I love.
1993 was the year when my husband got transferred from Coimbatore to Bangalore.
I could never work consistently due to his transfers.
I started my avatar again as a non working mother of two school going children.
That was a period in my life when I had the most hectic schedule.
The following was the normal schedule for me on a working day.
As there was limited water supply, I had to collect water in drums in the kitchen, bathroom and utility. For that I had to wake up at five in the morning.
Then I had to prepare breakfast and lunch for five members.

After a small break in the afternoon, I would pick up children from school and bring them home.
I had to freshen them up, feed them.
I had to go to the market to get the required vegetables and other stuff.
Get the homework done by the children. Give them extra coaching. I used to find out where they were lagging behind. I used to teach them those things.
My children remember even today how much I drilled them to become perfect with certain math procedures and formulae. BODMAS was one thing I had to teach them till they remembered it like the back of their palm.
Then it would be time for evening cooking, dinner, cleaning and keeping the things ready for the next day.

I am not at all belittling anyone for their lifestyle they chose for themselves.
But I want to tell emphatically that a housewife who is a mother certainly has one of the most tough jobs.
