A social media user who identifies herself as a househelp has opened up on how she has suffered at the hands of employers.
Marion Obunga, 33, opened up on her Twitter account how she has suffered working as a househelp for close to seven years.
She said that the ‘unbearable’ working conditions have also subjected her to mental challenges.
“Working as a house girl has never been easy. It’s the most challenging job and can really mess up your mental health. Because we have bills to pay, always struggling,” she said in the post on Tuesday afternoon.
According to her, working as a househelp, employers and their kids do not respect them.
She further opened up on how she once suffered at the hands of a Kenyan female television presenter who assaulted her.
Describing her as a source of hell, Obunga said that it was so hard for the employer to pay salaries in time.
“I did not have off days; I was not allowed to look at her directly and I was forced to speak English all the time. She was always on blogs and having scandals,” she said.
Obunga narrated how the TV presenter once mistreated her in public at an event in Westlands.
“She once had an event in Westlands na akanishow nimpelekee a certain wig urgently. Traffic was bad na nilikuwa ndani ya Uber. Nikachelewa kufika na the moment I arrived, she grabbed the wig, threw it to my face, slapped me and then sacked me on the spot. Sikuwai lipwa salary ,” Obunga wrote.
Obunga said she secured another job in the house of an Indian couple who asked her to do crazy things.
The couple and other friends could make love in the basement of their building in her presence.
She says once the couple is done, she could be asked to clean up the mess which included lubricants, condoms and sex toys among others.
“And then I worked for this strange Indian couple that would, every Saturday, force me to watch group sex in their basement. Tulikuwa house girls watatu. We would be dressed up in uniforms, tunaleweshwa alafu we go to the basement where Indians on drugs would perform group sex.”
She said that the best thing about the couple is that they used to pay her well, but she eventually quit the job after a while due to how she was being treated.

In 2019, Obunga said that she worked for a couple that was all over the news especially after the wife hired goons to kill the husband.
However, the man knew about the plan and when the goons arrived at his house, police officers stormed into the house.
“It was the bloodiest, noisiest shootout I have ever witnessed,” she said.
According to her, in 2020, she worked for a rich politician for eight months and that during that period, she was never allowed to use her mobile phone.
She was asked to take her boss’ kids to a mall where they used to play every weekend.
“After hours of playing, the lady (Obunga’s boss) could enter into an eatery with her kids, the husband gets into a bar and I was asked to go and wait for them in the car,” she narrated.
Obunga is now calling upon well-wishers to help her. “ I’m currently jobless na siwes mind a better job or even my own small bizna. If you wish to help please do so. Binadamu ni kujiongea. Although most people only link Koinange Street to prostitution in the city, there are other bigger and more decorated hotspots where workers in the world's oldest profession have congregated to do their trade.

Here sex workers parade themselves around the popular Nyama Villa club. You will mostly see them lining along Spine Road on either side of the club.
Their trade is facilitated by the numerous lodges dotting the area.
Prostitution here is facilitated by the large number of pubs and joints for wines and spirit joints. Like in Kayole, sex workers here operate around these joints and lay in wait for their prey.
Prostitution here is majorly dominant around 12th street. The area has several lodges especially because of long-distance travellers who alight or board buses here.
Eritrean and Ethiopian girls have their territory at 3rd and 9th Streets.
Majengo is just a stone-throw distance from Eastleigh's 12th Street and is regarded as the core of prostitution in Nairobi. It is said to offer the cheapest services with the women sitting outside their rooms waiting for clients.
Here, sex workers thrive on the influx of university students in the area. There is always that easy money from naive students who are learning the street ways of Nairobi.
It is said that sex workers here come from the neighbouring Machakos county.
They have rented bedsitters that they use as nests for their trade.
If gang crime is the stereotype for men in Dandora, prostitution is its equivalent for women.
Sex workers here offer services at very cheap rates, making Dandora a hub for commercial sex.

Majengo is regarded as the mother of prostitution in Nairobi and is famous for having the cheapest s3x workers in the industry. Majengo prostitutes are known for sitting outside their single rooms on their trademark stools as they wait for customers to negotiate.
Ngara which has its location near the Central Business District of Nairobi has lately been hit hard by prostitutes who have flooded the area with most of them targeting university and college students who stay in the hostels around the estates
Pipeline estate is a famous hotspot for commercial s3x workers who come outside the city from the neighboring counties and have rented bedsitters which they use as their operation bases.
The last on the list is Dandora once the crime capital of Nairobi is now a base for low-end prostitution in the city with commercial s3x workers in this estate competing with those from Majengo in providing cheap s3x to clients.
