'Game of Thrones' Prequel 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' Begins Filming in 2024

Fans of the Game of Thrones universe have reason to rejoice as HBO officially confirms that production for the next prequel series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, is set to begin later this year. The show, based on George R.R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg novellas, will explore the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and his young squire, Egg (a future Targaryen king), set nearly a century before the events of Game of Thrones.

What We Know So Far

Release Window: The series is expected to premiere in late 2025 or early 2026.

Casting: While no official announcements have been made, rumors suggest that rising stars are being considered for the lead roles.

Creative Team: George R.R. Martin is heavily involved as an executive producer, alongside House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal.

Meanwhile, House of the Dragon Season 2 is set to debut next month, continuing the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons. Early trailers have teased major battles, including the infamous Blood and Cheese revenge plot.

Additionally, HBO is reportedly developing another spin-off, Snow, focusing on Jon Snow’s life after the events of Game of Thrones, with Kit Harington attached to reprise his role.
