Major Eye Care Product Recall Issued Due to Potential Infection Risk

May 12, 2025 – Federal health officials have announced a voluntary recall of several popular eye care products, including lubricating drops and contact lens solutions, after reports of possible contamination linked to eye infections.

The affected products, manufactured by ClearSight Laboratories, include:

HydraVision Lubricating Eye Drops (Lot numbers HV2025A through HV2025G)

ClearLens Multi-Purpose Contact Solution (Lot numbers CL2024M through CL2025K)

RefreshOptic Nighttime Gel (Lot numbers RO2024N through RO2025P)

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated that routine testing detected bacterial contamination in some batches, which could lead to eye irritation, corneal damage, or severe infections—particularly in individuals with compromised immune systems or pre-existing eye conditions.

'Consumers should immediately stop using these products and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund,' said Dr. Lisa Monroe, an FDA spokesperson. 'If you experience redness, pain, blurred vision, or sensitivity to light, seek medical attention right away.'

So far, 12 cases of eye infections have been reported across six states, with three patients requiring hospitalization. ClearSight Laboratories has halted distribution and is working with retailers to remove the affected lots from shelves.
