just a quick question my razer deathadder is currently at 1800 dpi will this be enough for overwatch or will i need more. appreciate any input from ppl who tested the game at gamecon and other blizzard events TY
Personally I use 420 DPI for everything I do, but you're free to use whatever.
no you obviously need to download more dpi to play overwatch
but seriously it's an FPS and will have mouse sensitivity options just like almost every other FPS game out there if it's too fast turn it down and if it's too slow turn it up
and it's not like anyone that plays the demos know what DPI and mice were
It's not that necessarily they didn't know, more like they didn't care and were too enamored with playing Overwatch. :P
Ok, I actually want to have a conversation about this...
1800 DPI...?? So you move your mouse half an inch and it flies across your screen, right?
I've been slowly lowering my mouse sensitivity down towards 400 DPI because I've been read lower sens basically gives you more precision. From what I can tell, and what I remember from my time playing Counter-Strike, it's true.
1800 DPI seems insanely high to me.
How do you do at things like www.aimbooster.com ?
All the research I've done on this subject has taught me lower sensitivity = more precision/accuracy. The only trouble you run in to is when you need to turn quickly, but you just have to learn how to make bigger movements for things like that.
I'm honestly just curious how you do anything with 1800 DPI that seems insanely high to me. I just lowered mine to 500 DPI and it still seems high, tbh.
Depends on in game sens. For example if you used 450 Dpi and sensitivity 4 in game then using 1800 Dpi and sensitivity 1 in game you would have a similar cm/360. As you've increased Dpi 4x and quartered the sensitivity.
1800 DPI is more than enough for any FPS game, so yes that will be fine for Overwatch. Most high level FPS players actually use fairly low DPI, a common standard is to use a DPI/sensitivity combination that allows you to to do one full 360° turn by moving your mouse all the way across your mousepad. You compensate for the slower mouse movement by using your whole arm to control the mouse instead of your wrist and making broader strokes. It helps to have a large mousepad if you opt for this style.
Obviously it boils down to personal preference, and there's nothing wrong with using a higher DPI.
uhhh high DPI is really a marketing thing at this point. Overwatch will have mouse sens in game you can adjust.
most pros who play shooters play at 400-800dpi and low sens. If you play alot high sens tends to more or less kill your wrist.
Ive read somewhere on the r/csgo that the recommended edpi for that is 800-1200.
I think for quake most pros used 2-5sens (it has same sens as cs) but they used acceleration tho. I think the average stat was something like 3.4 with .15 accel (accel isnt same as it was in quake tho I think).
Anyway my personal advice is dont play at high sens just with your wrists.
You are all arguing regardless of the screen resolution.
Is not the same 800dpi with 1024x768p than 800dpi with 1920x1080p.
I would actually recommend lower DPI for FPS games. I'm one of those high DPI players because I didn't have a lot of space for my mouse when I was gaming on my couch. I have a Deathadder as well and play at 3200 for Starcraft/Dota, but lower it all the way down to 1200 for first person shooters, moving fast is not worth sacrificing precise movement over.
Given you're at 1800, I'd recommend around 800, to start with, but as others said a good point of reference is the width (minus a small margin) of your mousepad should be a 360 in-game.
People often forget that if you use Windows, YOU CAN CHANGE THE DPI IN THE CONTROL PANEL. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY A DIFFERENT MOUSE.
People often forget that if you use bold text, YOU CAN SAY THINGS COMPLETELY WRONG. YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE A WORKING BRAIN.
not enough dpi? downloadmoredpi.com
Dude just wait for the beta and u will see it ! I dont think anyone was interested in dpi while they tested the game
DPI works the same regardless of what game you are playing. Just load up some random FPS and see if it works for you.
Me, I like using my virtually no-dpi trackball and I've never had a problem. ;D
I guess its the same as other FPS games. You will need around 400 to 1000. With 1800 you wont hit anything. The mouse is still very good, I use the same.
this isn't true actually, play with what you prefer.
I play shooters with 2300dpi and I'm kinda decent you just need to adjust your in-game mouse sens and windows sens.
