I wasn't really familiar with Death Angel's material or albums before I picked up this one. I've always heard about them but just never pulled the trigger on purchasing one of their albums. I was sort of wanted to find something new or maybe a band I've never heard before. And on top of that something heavy that's sort of different. Well I was looking on Amazon and kept seeing the rave reviews on this album. I knew Death Angel was a classic thrash band, so I knew it would probably be heavy. I've always heard about their classic thrash albums Frolic through the park and Act III. Always heard they were thrash classics but just never seem to get around to check them out. So I really have no other albums to compare this album to but The Evil Divide. But for a metal head I wasn't disappointed. It's differently a heavy record. You could even say it's a thrash record with a modern sound. But I think on this album it's a mix of a lot of different genres of metal. Thrash, metalcore, traditional metal. Which for me was very refreshing. But I don't think they strayed to far from their classic thrash sound, coming right out of the gate with thrashers like ( the moth, cause for alarm, he'll to pay, and it can't be this Ect.). More traditional sounding metal songs like Lost which reminds me a lot of Only by Anthrax on the Sound Of White Noise album. But in a good way without ripping Anthrax off, which Lost as become one of me favorite songs on this album. But Death Angel seem to mix a more modern sound with their music on this release. Some songs remind me of a heavier Metallica song on Death Magnetic or a heavier Avenged Sevenfold song mixed with Machine Head riffs. But in a good way. There's amazing guitar riffs and solos and dive bombs by their amazing guitar players Rob Cavestany and Ted Aguilar. Some should be metal riffs of the year or decade amazing guitar playing and played at light speed! Then their singer Mark Osegueda has a voice all his own. Never heard anyone's voice sound like his. So I have nothing to compare it to. Which I think makes Death Angel stand out on its own. Mark sounds like a thrash metal Banshee Bringing a unique sound to already interesting metal band. A must have for metal heads or Thrash metal, or die hard Death Angel fans. From the reviews sounds like one of their strongest releases and a long time maybe their career. They diffentley made a fan out of me on this album.

DA fans will get it! Great thrash metal band from the 80s, I love the band that they have become today as much as I did then. I think this is the best of their later releases.

Where are you to go after an endless beating since The Art Of Dying? The busiest band in music still bring the hammer to the party with a little less to offer you. It rips, but it's time to move into the next world that DA must enter and destroy. Great album, I'm a pulp with no reason to be beaten any longer, how Osegueda maintains his endless mode of assault is down right scary. He's the most mellow guy, but some serious personal strife fuels his lyrical fire. Musically talented and those harmonies. What's left to say about Death Angel. The Big 5 of 4

This is a fantastic, heavy-hitting thrash album from the legendary Death Angel! As much as I love Relentless retribution, I think this may possibly be my favorite album by them. The messages are very intense, you can understand the words, it drives hard as you listen to it. It was just as good seeing them perform some of these songs live! I'm very picky when it comes to listening to heavy and thrash metal, there is nothing to be picky about here. In a world where you can steal music, this is an album you simply should just buy. Do it!

I like this one better even than their celebrated Ultra-Violence. Like a lot of the music that the old masters have been kicking out lately, it's clean, and fast, and seems to be a lot less influenced by the traces of NWOBHM that were sprinkled over so many thrash albums of the 80's (Slayer and Anthrax excepted).

Well, thank god for Death Angel and their new album The Evil Divide, they are singlehandedly bringing Thrash Metal back and more prevalent than ever! If you even like metal a little bit, go out and buy this album or in my case Amazon. You are doing yourself a great disservice by not having this album in your Metal arsenal. BAY AREA METAL LIVES ON!

I have liked death angel since the mid 80s, they have delivered exceptional music that invoked thought. This album is truly no different. The drive that you can feel in the music just drives one into a metaphorical thinking, opening the mind to different possibilities in life and around them. A fantastic album, I would recommend this to anyone.

No Divide Its All Awesome

Finally, I am glad to report that Death Angel have banished all memory of the fiasco that was "Frolic Through the Park", its good that I am a patient man as its only took 25 years to complete.................... On a serious note though its tough to avoid feeling my age when the bands I been listening to since my youth are celebrating their 30 year anniversaries, but when they are able to throw out a thrash monster like "The Evil Divide" I may as well be 16 again, this is superb and its no fluke, I have felt for some time the reformation of DA has been gathering momentum, I will admit the releases in 2004 -The Art of Dying and 2008 - Killing Season whilst solid, they gave the impression of a band feeling its way back from over a decade of separation, a band trying to recover a not yet conceived identity and the music was a Punky Metal, however the 2010 release of Relentless Retribution seen a return to old school Thrash, it was a marked improvement and 2013's release of The Dream Calls For Blood seen DA become noticed again as forebearers of the "full throttle metal" and that brings us up to date with the 2016 new release of The Evil Divide, which is, in my opinion Death Angel at their heaviest ever, Rob Cavestany has always been a remarkable songwriter and vocally Mark Osegueda has always been a highlight and The Evil Divide showcases some serious slabs of thrash. In short I love it !! The Moth is an unbelievable album opener and sets the tone for a headbanging 45 minutes, Let the Pieces Fall is a stormer nearing the end of the album, the riff comparable to a blow from a claw hammer, Cause for Alarm ironically enough starts with a riff that Agnostic Front would be proud of and the whole album is an epic slab of old school thrash perfection, The Evil Divide should and will become a benchmark to all new up and coming thrash bands as an example of how to execute something to stand out from the crowd, this in my opinion is Death Angels comeback recovery mission complete, they are now back to where they were after the awesome debut Ultra Violence, and that place is at the heart of the Thrash Elite,,,,

This band barely disappoint, doing great job, i liked the last one 3 years ago, and this one is a great continous. This album has killer songs, play it from first to last, no pause, quality similar to last album, gives you taste for more. Top songs are: 'The Moth', 'Father of Lies', 'Breakaway' and more. Any thrasher fan should own it.

Nunca defraudan

2016 release, the eighth album from the Bay Area thrash metal band. Three decades into their celebrated career, Death Angel remain as hungry as ever. As a result, uncompromising urgency and unpredictability define The Evil Divide. The group - Mark Osegueda [vocals], Rob Cavestany [lead guitar], Ted Aguilar [guitar], Will Carroll [drums], and Damien Sisson [bass] - satiate the appetite for buzzsaw speed riffs, double bass mayhem, and scorching vocals over the course of 10 new anthems. The Evil Divide stands out as the culmination of 30+ years of music for Death Angel. It kicked off with legendary debut, The Ultra-Violence, in 1987. The classic Frolic Through The Park began to cement their legacy and even earned the distinction of landing on Loudwire's list of the "Top Ten Thrash Albums NOT Released by The Big 4." The group broke up following 1990's Act III only to reunite in 2004 on Art of Dying for the next generation. A powerful trifecta followed. In 2010, Relentless Retribution boasted a cameo from virtuosos Rodrigo y Gabriela, while 2013's The Dream Calls For Blood bowed at #72 on the Billboard Top 200, selling 5,400 copies first-week and earning the group's first-ever entry onto that respective chart. Beyond continued public praise from the likes of James Hetfield of Metallica and Robb Flynn of Machine Head, the band's music has popped up everywhere from Carl's Jr. commercials to Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III. Their fire burns brighter than ever in 2016.

It’s tough to avoid feeling one’s age when all the wild, crazy bands you listened to in your youth are approaching 30 year anniversaries. This is particularly true with Death Angel . I remember seeing them open for Overkill and Slayer back in 86 and they looked like little kids on stage. I was a kid myself but they really looked like little kids. 2016 sees them dropping their 8th album after three decades in the business and while they’re older, wiser and much more grizzled, you’d hardly know it from the razor-sharp thrash contained on The Evil Divide . This may be as close as the band has come to living up to the legacy of their brilliantly devastating The Ultra-Violence debut, and as a long time fan, its been a mighty long wait indeed. This channels the same youthful rage and hostility as that mighty debut, while also showing a more mature, thoughtful side, and the combination is pretty damn lethal when everything comes together.
Opener “The Moth” sets the stage with a gripping, ripping piece of modern thrash. It’s aggressive and in-your-face as thrash should be, the vocals by Mark Osegueda are pissed off and savage and the guitars are wild and unhinged. It’s undoubtedly “modern” but retains enough of their classic Bay Area sound to appease the elders. What’s more, it’s memorable and even catchy. From here the band dabbles in different moods and influences, spanning the decades rather adroitly. “Cause for Alarm” has a definite hardcore crossover vibe to the riffs and structure, as does “Hell to Pay” but the thrash roots remain audible and the combination is
