With the games in the mobile sector being rapidly increasing with the developers focusing on the interest developing in the gamers in the mobile sector, there have been many games which are being introduced day in and out. While most of them are being ignored, some of them already hit. One of the recent releases was the Dead Spreading: Survival , a Zombie survival game with interesting modes and characters. During the course of the game, you’ll have to kill several zombies to complete a level, which in turn will get you XP and in-game rewards which will help you unlock many characters and coins for upgrades. So, in this beginner’s guide, the main focus will be on how to know the game and adapt to it quickly. For more game guides , please do not hesitate to check our website.
Dead Spreading: Survival is a zombie shooting + survival game developed by Potting Mob. You will be having your special character to form a squad to get rid of the zombie menace in each danger zone. There are different levels to jump on to, where you face many Zombies and their Zombie boss who won’t stop until each member of your special ops team is dead. The difficulties increase with the number of zombies growing higher.
The Home screen goes with your regular information that includes the level you are in, the Squad Name and your Daily Missions. Your Boss will be guiding throughout the game, informing about the missions that are to be completed. You will receive daily gifts accordingly. Your EXP level will be indicated in the Home page, where you receive rewards like Gems, Quests Boxes, Character cards and Coins . While you complete Regular and Daily missions, they add up to a certain extent to level you up. You also have options to refresh your daily missions in Dead Spreading: Survival.
Includes permanent features that contain bonuses and extra slots for your gems.
Dead Spreading: Survival, as the name suggests, is a kill to survive mode type. You will be facing a lot of zombies as you climb up the mission tree, which might feed you with increasing difficulties with Zombie Bosses with different skills and damage . You will be deployed to face all of the zombies with a health bar indicating your health. All you have to do is to smash all the zombies to survive. After every mission, you will receive rewards and unlock the next mission.
During the same, you’ll have to rescue survivors who are dropped with a parachute on the mission zone. You just have to get near them before Zombies break the shield to get to them. Your heroes/characters will receive certain benefits for the rescues done, such as healing and increased damage. Some survivors may also join your team and start attacking zombies.
There are 9 characters in the game currently, each off them will have an EXP level required to get them unlocked. You’ll get hands-on Jerry initially as your first character. Later others will join you too. To level them up, you’ll have to obtain their Character Card s which combined levels them up using Coins which are obtained in-game. These characters have special attributes that increase as they level up .
You have Gems, Coins and Chests obtained after completing a mission or levelling up. Under Daily gifts, you will receive up to 5 rewards every few hours. You might get a shovel, card, gem or gold and extra gems. Chests are having certain rewards as well, where you have up to a maximum of 4 chests at a time.

When you start the game for the first time, you will play a mini-tutorial at first, before you move forward. I’m not sure if this is a real tutorial, as there is only one mechanic that you have to learn: moving around on the map with your character.
The controls are as easy as they could be: to move around, tap (and hold), and swipe with your finger to the direction you want to run at. But as there are also a lot of zombies on a map, you need to kill them to survive. Most of the time, you have to eliminate a specific amount of them and an elite zombie in the end. However, there is no option to control where you want to shoot at, as your character does this by himself.
Standing in one area of the map is not a particularly good idea since the zombies come to you in large quantities, so you get literally overwhelmed.
Maps also differ from each other with each level (sometimes only a bit), so you’re able to find different structures like houses, trees, or cars on them (purely decorative!). Luckily, zombies are not very intelligent, so they run to you in a line (or around objects to reach you), but you should not underestimate them.
Over time, many different types of zombies spawn on the map, which have special abilities too. Some are pretty fast, some are pretty bulky, and so on. Also, after killing a good amount of zombies, an elite zombie will spawn, which are pretty powerful and can tank a lot of damage. I also recommend not getting hit by them, as they probably can kill a character with only two hits.
If you manage to eliminate such an elite zombie, there is a good chance that he will drop a chest, which contains shards, gold, or gems.
In the beginning, levels are not too difficult, but they get more challenging by moving forward. Having proper positioning can be a lifesaver, which I experienced by myself a few times. Also, if there are a lot of zombies next to a drop, don’t try to pick it up, as you probably receive much damage.
When one of your characters gets killed during a level, you can rescue other characters, which can join your squad. And when a character gets saved, which is already in the team, he will power-up your character for the rest of the match.
Note: Each unit also has a unique ability, that chages up over time, and activates when it’s charged up. You can also unlock better equipment for them by increasing their level.
Thanks to my lousy movement, I died a few times, as I got completely overwhelmed by a big boss or a large group of zombies (tried to rescue someone).
When you complete level after level, you will also get chests/pickaxes, and unlock new characters for your team. Pickaxes can be used to dig for treasures on completed stages, which can range from chests, up to gems, and exclusive levels.
By playing such exclusive levels, you can collect medals that can be exchanged for items, like gems, pickaxes, or shards. However, we are only able to complete these levels three times before we have to find a new one.
When I play the game, I get very silent to be able to concentrate for 100%. But this is not a bad thing, as Dead Spreading Survival entertains me pretty well (and it is a bit addicting, to be honest).
Note: By unlocking new levels, you also unlock another game mode, called city survival. In this mode, you have to survive multiple waves of zombies, instead of killing a specific amount. It is also possible to encounter multiple elite zombies at once!
Not only should the game be fun to play, but it is also essential that it also looks good. When we start the game on your smartphone, we will begin on the main menu, which has a good and simple design. If we go tho the characters, their portrait also looks very good, but if we click on them, well, they don’t look that good.
All the characters look very basic and not very detailed. While we play a level, our characters are much smaller, so we can’t see their model very well, and they look good at this point. But I wish that they rework their designs for the menu, so I don’t get scared when I look at them.
Luckily, almost everything looks pretty good inside of a level, and the more cartoonish style fits very well.
Dead Spreading is very F2P friendly, but there are some options to spend some money, which I want to show you as well. First, you can buy gems, (which is the primary in-game currency) in different packages. These gems are required to level up your characters or to buy gold and chests.
Another option is to buy the VIP pass, which grants you some buffs, like getting more gold and experience after each level.
The third option is to buy special packages that get offered in the shop. These packages change from time to time, but currently, there is a starter pack for a $1 -$2 and a bigger package for around $10.
Note: After completing a level or opening a chest, the game will offer you the option to watch a video ad to get extra bonuses. But you can also skip them if you don’t want to watch ads.
But is it worth spending your hard-earned money on this game? Well, I wouldn’t recommend buying the VIP pass, as it doesn’t offer anything special besides some buffs, like an exclusive character. But if you enjoy the game very well, and you want to support the developers, feel free to buy something in the shop.
Any type of game should have a progression system in place, to keep the player motivated playing the game. In Dead Spreading: Survival , there is only a trophy road, that you can climb. By raising your player level, you unlock new stuff like characters, chests, pickaxes, gold, and gems.
By reaching level 42, you unlock the character Rose, which is the last character to unlock currently. But after that, there is nothing more to really work for. However, the is a good chance that new characters get added due to future updates.
When you unlock a new character, you can upgrade him with gold and gems, to increase his stats drastically (up to level 50). But for each level, you need shards that you can get by opening chests or be bought through medals (very similar to Clash Royale’s card upgrade system).
Besides this, there is nothing more which we can consider as a progression system, as Dead Spreading Survival is a straightforward game, which main focus lies on the gameplay experience in the short term and not on the long term.
Potting Mob’s newest game is fun to play, but still, it is not perfect. When I played the game, I felt that we need more variety inside of the campaign. Most of the time, we have to eliminate a specific amount of zombies, which could get boring after a few chapters. So it would be nice if we get some more game modes inside the campaign.
The second improvement they could make is introducing an online multiplayer or at lease a co-up mod, in which another person and we have to complete a mission while facing a massive amount of zombies (or something like that).
The third thing that they should consider working on are the character models on the menu. They don’t look that nice, but I already talked about that. The last issue that I encountered while playing the game is that the game freezes when you quit while watching an ad. This is very annoying when you accidentally press the button.
As said, the game focuses more on the quick, intense gameplay experience, and not on the long term potential like other games do. If you look for a game that you can play for dozens of hours, I recommend taking a look at The Seven Deadly Sins Grand Cross , Summoners War , and One Piece Treasure Cruise .
But if you look for a game to cut some time, it’s worth to try it out. The game does a good job at some things, but there is still some room for future improvements, to make it even better.
