As we head into the 2nd half of the season, we look back at who played well the 1st half of the season.
My assistant and I went to 2-4 games a week plus many tournaments along the way covering a lot of ground.
A high IQ forward with skill. He seems to get better every showing. His skill has polished up each season and he shows toughness with his defense.
A skilled guard has a lot on his shoulders this season. He can score it from all three levels and needs to do it each game for them to beat the top teams. He has some bounce and gets high elevation on his jumpers from mid to the 3pt line. He can post up as well.
An athletic stud plays and defends multiple positions for the Monsoon. His transition game is some of the best in the West Side and scores on downhill play and will hit some J’s.
Another player who is asked to do a lot early on this season. He seems to defend every position on the court and is becoming a play maker for his teammates. He has that Cummard toughness that we are used to over the years. He can shoot it from mid to the 3 as well.
Arington had some monster games early on including 39 points in one game. He gets hot quickly and stays that way all game long. He has a pretty touch from deep off the catch.
Martin has taken the reigns of this team this season and looks good doing it. He has great speed in the open court with a shifty handle. He can drive and kick plus shoot it from deep.
Tolson missed all season last year and is starting off where he left off. He can score it from inside and out with a nice touch on his jumper. He rebounds well in his area and gives high effort on D.
A knockdown shooter has a clip from deep. He is very steady with his approach and lets it fly quickly. His corner 3 is one of the best out there and he can give a hard shot fake and dribble drive to the cup.
I didn’t see him play, but saw his highlights from the Judy Dixon tournament. He was on fire all week hitting 16 3’s out of 29 attempts. He has a good feel for the game and can crossover his man to gain separation from his defender. He has good court vision and savvy to make plays and score. He can step into 3’s, pull-up and catch and shoot from deep.

Most of his value comes from his anticipation on the forecheck, non-stop pursuit, and overwhelming pressure on the backcheck. He has some details, angling attackers to the outside and pressuring them into poor decisions without taking himself out of position. -EliteProspects 2022 NHL Draft Guide

Ancient Chinese bowl from the 1400s bought at a yard sale for $35 sold for more than $700,000 at Sotheby's.

Ancient Chinese bowl from the 1400s bought at a yard sale for $35 sold for more than $700,000 at Sotheby's.
NEW YORK - A bowl bought at a yard sale last year by a savvy bargain hunter for $35 and that had been identified as an exceptionally rare 15th-century Chinese antique has sold at Sotheby's for $721,800.
The small, intricate blue-and-white artifact , which features motifs of lotus, peony, chrysanthemum and pomegranate blossoms, was originally commissioned by China's imperial court during the Ming dynasty, according to Sotheby's auction house in New York, where the bowl was auctioned on March 17. The pre-sale estimate was $300,000-$500,000.
This rare blue-and-white bowl from China's Ming dynasty.
The bowl was discovered last year near New Haven, Connecticut. While Sotheby's is not disclosing the owner's identity, the head of its Chinese art department, Angela McAteer, said that the man "didn't haggle over the $35 asking price."
Shortly after making the purchase, he sent photographs of the bowl to auction specialists, who identified it as an item of historical significance. "We instinctively had a very, very good feeling about it," McAteer said.
Under the Yongle Emporer, porcelain-making proliferated with distinctive techniques perfected during his reign.
Upon closer inspection, the bowl was found to have originated from the court of the Yongle Emperor, who ruled from 1403 to 1424 - a period noted for its distinctive and celebrated porcelain techniques.
"The bowl had an incredibly smooth porcelain body" and a "really unctuous silky glaze," McAteer said, which she noted "was never replicated in future reigns or dynasties." In addition to its vibrant cobalt blue coloring, she said it has all the hallmarks expected of the great commissions of the Yongle period.
During his reign, the Yongle Emperor transformed the porcelain craft, placing large orders for his court and exerting greater control over the imperial kilns at Jingdezhen, China's most important porcelain-making city.
"The Yongle Emperor really promoted the artistic importance of porcelain," McAteer said. "He elevated it from being a utilitarian bowl, for example, into a true work of art."
With a diameter of just over six inches, the small but detailed bowl would likely have had both artistic and practical value to the court. McAteer said, however, that very little is known about its provenance or how it ended up at the yard sale. "It's a frustrating mystery," she said, adding that there is "scant documentation" from the period.
This type of dish is known as a "lotus bowl" due to its resemblance to the flower of the same name.
Only six other similar bowls are known to have survived, according to Sotheby's, with others housed by institutions including the National Palace Museum in Taipei, as well as the British Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Offering her advice to other porcelain bargain hunters, McAteer said: "Look for an equilibrium and balance in the design ... and assess the quality and the workmanship that has gone into it."
The bowl was auctioned as part of Sotheby's Asia Week , March 11-24, a series of sales featuring artifacts, antiques and contemporary art from across the region.

The four veterans killed when a freight train barreled into the parade float they were riding on were decorated military men who served on the front lines multiple times in Iraq and Afghanistan.
They survived gunshots, explosions and grenade attacks that left some with brain injuries that slurred their speech and made it difficult to walk.
One had a wife back home battling cancer while he fought through a brain injury in Iraq after an improved explosive device hit his truck.
Another was starting a new career with a defense contractor after more than two decades of military service.
They were husbands and fathers. Soldiers and a Marine. And they made sacrifices for those they loved, including at least one who died after pushing his wife to safety.
The men had traveled to Midland, Texas, from all over the country for a hunting trip organized to honor their service and to spend a weekend with those who would understand them best – their fellow veterans.
Here’s a look at them, compiled from interviews with friends and family, along with autobiographies they wrote for the website of Show of Support, the group that organized the parade and hunting trip.
Army Sgt. Joshua Michael, 34, was coming off a shift as a paramedic in Amarillo, Texas, when he heard about the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
“I knew what I had to do,” he wrote for Show of Support’s website. “I come from a long line of military and public servants; this was my calling.”
Michael also knew what to do Thursday. As the train hurtled down the tracks, he pushed his wife
