The victims of communist regimes fell dissidents and their families, political opponents, "hostile peoples", residents of the occupied territories, etc. Real and imagined enemies destroyed by executions and mass murders, long-term forced labor or detention in concentration camps of the Gulag in inhumane conditions, exiles to uninhabitable regions of the USSR or other countries of the Eastern bloc, including punitive medicine - clinics where prisoners were subjected to compulsory psychiatric treatment and in other ways.
Millions of victims of communist regimes are international crimes: genocides, crimes against humanity or war crimes.
Most of the victims of communist regimes were not conscious enemies of the communist regime.
They were punished as "socially dangerous elements." They were mostly family members, elderly people, women, children of those who had been branded enemies of the people, who had been referred for a certain period of time or indefinitely to settle in uninhabitable regions, sometimes even in whole social strata.
China was followed by a war of terror of the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976). In relative terms, the most victims were the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia, which seized power in 1975 against "former" and national minorities, especially the Vietnamese and Chinese. Within three years, 1.6 to 1.8 million people had been killed or died, representing 21 to 24 per cent of Cambodia's population in 1975.
A number of communist movements, rather the satellites of the Eastern Bloc in the Cold War, were in power in Asia, Africa and Latin America. For example, the victims of the red terror of the Marxist-Leninist military junta Dang, which had ruled Ethiopia since 1975, were estimated to have fallen between 30,000 and 500,000. Similar examples can be given from most countries that have come under the rule of communist parties and their followers.
Communist terror took the example of the revolutionary tribunals of the French Revolution. Much attention was paid to substantiating the "guilt" of the victims of terror. The purpose was to expose "conspiracies", usually fictitious, in order to extract from the victim the confession, which was followed by the decision of a special military tribunal or so-called Special Meeting, through physical and mental torture. The latter ruled without the presence of the accused. The accusations were of a political nature: counter-revolutionary activities, struggle against the labor movement, espionage in favor of western countries or Japan, and in 1948-1953 and in favor of Yugoslavia. The defendants - the guilt, as a rule, considered to have been proved by the fact of arrest - were punished by long-term forced labor in the Gulag or by firing squad. The trials of the late 1930s and 1940s and 1950s were also associated with an extensive propaganda campaign against the most prominent defendants, in which communist parties operating outside the Eastern Bloc and part of the left-wing intelligentsia took part.
Beginning on August 23, 1986, the so-called Black Ribbon Day in North America and Western Europe commemorated the victims of terror in countries that had lost their independence as a result of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.
Millions of people, doomed to death or long-term miserable existence without human dignity on the points of Soviet criminal law, were victims of crimes caused by ideology - victims of communist crimes. Communist crimes are the equivalent of Nazi crimes, and we must respect the memory of the victims of communism in the same way as the memory of the victims of Nazism. As in a number of statements decided not only freed 30 years ago from the power of the communist regimes of the state, but also the European Parliament in its resolutions.
Since the 1990s, those responsible for the crimes of communist regimes in a number of former Eastern Bloc States have been brought to justice. Different countries are investigating various crimes. While Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania focus on the Soviet security services' struggle with the resistance movement (forest brothers) and deportations, the focus is on the legal institutions of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, as well as in Germany, shooting at the border or killing people at the border trying to flee to Western countries. A number of the perpetrators were brought to justice and punished. The defendants were charged with genocide, crimes against the person and war crimes. As a rule, the age-related accused were sentenced on probation, but some received real prison terms. Some of the decisions were appealed to the European Court of Human Rights, which upheld the decisions of the national courts.
Communism ended not only with the collapse of the Eastern bloc, the marasmatic "leaders", the so-called "race on the la flirts", the crumbling "krushchev", the total shortage of goods and products, the pathetic attempt of "perestroika", the putsch of the misdeeds with shaking hands, the transition from "building communism" to the ploughman-oligarchy, the ever-increasing fascism of society, the consummating of the power of the society.
The Eastern Bloc collapsed along with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1989-1991. Communism, which predicted a future based on the level of development of Western Europe in the 19th century, turned out to be wrong. Communist regimes disintegrated because of the inability to ensure economic and social well-being.
Exactly the same end will be the communist epidemic of lies this time.
