Annette Chamberlain Brown Cliff, we are still talking about the spectacular tour. we had with you 2 years ago - you are the best. If we are ever in the city again, you will be the first person we will contact. Thank you again.
Custom & Private New York Tours Inc. In addition, when we resume we intend to provide larger vehicles then those would normally suffice. For example, a group of 3 or four would be provided with a chauffeured Mercedes Luxury Van to enhance distancing from me or our guide from our guests and the chauffeur as well.

Hi folks! This is Cliff from Custom & Private. Someone posted a review that was not very nice, boo hoo. Well, with over 570 five star reviews on TripAdvisor and only one 1 star review, hey . . . I'm delighted to have that liar's review because it adds an element of authenticity, ya think? Thank for reading :)

When Sully stepped into a bar when he got on dry land he stopped at the bar in his hotel. The bartender told him that he had made up a special drink in honor of his heroics: A Grey Goose with a splash of water, not on the rocks !!
While touring with five ladies, the "girls" participated with my suggestion to do a short "clip" in front of the Gossip Girls High School (The Museum of the City of NYC) for real. We did a "take" and then went live. So, here it is. The plot, a boyfriend (fictitious, of course) James was getting "involved" with one of the others and this expressed their little "tif" over the betrayal. They all did a fab job! I was the video guy and director :) Oh what fun it is to tour with such fun and enthusiastic people!

Who are these people? Silly question? Perhaps. The point is that this boy, my son is now older then I was when this picture was taken!! Life goes very fast, the years fly by and the business of life has got to be to focus on the important stuff and find time for friends, family, self and fun! Sure, while you're young you'll "go along with that" when you are no longer young you appreciate life more then before. Enjoy! And use your time wisely. It's later then you think!
Dear Children (under the age of 11). You're all soooo smart and know how to help us with our computer problems, how to help us do a spread sheet, navigate our way through the blogisphere, do photoshop and create a new email address but . . . . DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS IS???? BET YOU DON'T AND I'M NOT TELLING . . . .!!!! Yuk Yuk :)
Here's a 94 year old immigrant that I'm shaking hands with upon her first return to Ellis Island since she arrived here in America 89 years before. From Germany we was accompanied by her husband, an engineer with a job waiting for him at GM. She birthed 11 children and they all traveled down life's road of success and raised their families. That's one immigrant who didn't speak our language and her contribution is incredibly impressive and substantial beyond words. But, she is one of millions, who together created this great nation and without her or others we would have not achieved all the spectacular accomplishments that have made America great. "Make America great again" ? Nah! America is great and together with unity, love and good governance we can make her Greater!
Not too long ago I had an opportunity to provide a tour for a young man accompanied by his two little sons. Their mother had passed away. During their tour we took the Zephyr Statue of Liberty cruise and I had taken this photo of the three of them. I was overwhelmed with joy when I showed the father the shot and told him that the meaning of the photograph was profound. He didn't get it so I spelled it out: You're looking into the future with hope, liberty and pride and the boys are safe, protected by the flag. I saw a tear trace his cheek and as I put my camera away I wiped mine off too.
Not much to see yet, another new big boy building is now under construction. So, the architect was asked "Give us an idea what it'll look like!" His response, "Take two 12" rulers and put one on top of the other!" Well that's nice and here it is! Call it the Steinway tower tall and skinny located on 57th St between 6-7th Ave closer to 6th north side. Make sure you tilt your head up and have someone behind you to catch you if you loose you balance! :) Cliff
Nice bit of snow this morning in Central Park so . . . I took a walk and captured this image of a Northern Cardinal. So glad I caught the picture and not the bird :) 25% of all the bird species in America have been sited in Central Park. Not too bad for a park in the middle of the most densely populated county in America, eh?
When I was 12 years old I went to work on Saturdays with my father in midtown Manhattan. He had a photo lab one flight up. I recall a sign painter suggested that he paint the steps featuring my father's lab's services: Kodachrome, B & W, etc. one on each step. Recently, I was walking by, 6th Ave between 47-46th St and stopped, looked inside that hallway and noticed that the steps had been painted featuring services performed by the ladies salon on the 2nd floor. I got a chill!! After over 50 years, that idea initiated by my father to promote his business, before JFK was elected, before we put a man in space, before the internet and iphones, and my dad lives on.
Completed in 1883 when Brooklyn was a city of its own and New York consisted only of Manhattan. So how come the bridge wasn't named The New York Bridge. Here's why: Each city had a committee to resolve the issue. The New York City committee summoned the Brooklyn committee and told them that they want to name it The Brooklyn Bridge!! WOW!! How come? asked the Brooklynites! New York's response: "Because if it collapses we don't want our name on it!!!"
Ted and Heidi too a trek up north of the Mason-Dixon Line to embrace New York as a place they could win over during the Republican Presidential campaign pressed on. The Daily News has very expressive editors and they may need a bit of a spanking, huh? Sorry guys, you should have tried visiting Scarsdale. The Bronx is not ripe for conservatism, not yet anyway!
So sad! :( In 1947 the management of The Empire State Building took a tall step, to build a safety fence around the observation deck to prevent those who wished to "end it all." Most unfortunately this 23 year old decided to opt out of an engagement to be married and jumped. She landed face up on top of a UN limo on 33rd St. Featured in the issue of LIFE magazine May 11, 1947 as The Beautiful Suicide. G-d rest her soul
432 Park Ave is now the tallest building in NYC (if you discount the pole on the top of 1 World Trade) It stands 1,396' tall! Its design was inspired by a 1905 trash can! Ideas come from the strangest places, Cliff
With the high cost of theatre tickets now I join the crowds in the subway and enjoy the talents of our "down home" musicians, certainly from other parts! Well, for the cost of a New York City subway ride you can't beat it! Cliff
