Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Eyeshadow Palette
Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Eyeshadow Palette ($29.00 for 0.30 oz.) contains six eyeshadows; five have matte finishes, one has a more satiny finish. The palette leans cool-toned, but I didn’t find it to be strongly cool-toned across the board. The palette is the same size as the previous Naked Basics palette, though this one has a slightly different color and has lighter lettering. The quality is good overall, but the darkest shade is under-pigmented and a little harder to blend, and most of the matte shades were a little powdery, though they’re soft and didn’t look dry or powdery on the lid.
It will launch on Urban Decay’s website on August 19th, but it will be available at the usual suspects like Sephora, ULTA, Macy’s, Beauty.com on August 28th.
Skimp is described as a “pale nude satin.” It’s a light, peachy-beige with a satin finish. It is warmer and has a peach tone to it that wasn’t present when this was released in the Feminine palette (which looks pink-ish). The difference is subtle, and once applied to the skin, blended out, and so forth, it isn’t noticeably different–but it may be more noticeable if you are very cool or very warm-toned. It had good color payoff, and the texture was blendable but thinner than is typical for Urban Decay (and less dense/buttery compared to the previous version I have). It lasted for eight hours before fading on me. LORAC Navy #1 (LE) is darker. YSL Saharienne #1 (P) is similar. Divergent Serene Vanilla (LE) is lighter. MAC Warm Breeze (P, $15.00) is slightly darker. Clarins The Essentials #1 (LE) is similar. bareMinerals Magnate (LE) is lighter. MAC Shroom (P, $15.00) is more beige. Stark is described as a “nude-pink matte.” It’s a muted, peachy-beige with a matte finish and soft, warm undertones. It may be hard to see against my skin tone, as it is very similar to it, but it had good pigmentation, though it was slightly powdery. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me. Tarte Peach for the Stars (LE) Bobbi Brown Truffle (LE, $22.00) is darker. Anastasia Cream (LE) is warmer. Urban Decay Habit (LE, $18.00) is slightly cooler-toned. Frisk is described as a “warm gray matte.” It’s a light-medium taupe with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation had potential, but the somewhat powdery consistent made it so a lot of the pigment didn’t adhere to the skin, which resulted in decent color payoff but not great. If you normally use a primer, you should be okay. It lasted for eight hours on me before fading. Dior Mirage (761) (P, $30.00) is darker, cream. Urban Decay Naked 2 (P, $18.00) is darker. Cover is described as a “muted red-brown matte.” It’s a medium-dark, warm-toned taupe brown with a matte finish. This shade was excellent: great pigmentation, a beautifully soft but buttery and blendable texture, and lasted for just over eight hours before fading. Dior Mirage (761) (P, $30.00) is darker, cream. Kat Von D Renholder (P) is more shimmery, warmer. Urban Decay Naked 2 (P, $18.00) is cooler-toned. MAC Brains & Brawn (LE, $15.00) is cooler-toned. MAC Fashion Fix (P, $21.00) is darker, less matte. Primal is described as a “muted brown matte.” It’s a muted, medium-dark brown with soft, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good color payoff, and the texture was soft, blendable, and only a smidgen powdery. It wore well for eight and a half hours before fading. LORAC Navy #3 (LE) is darker. Urban Decay Rewind (LE, $18.00) is similar. bareMinerals Get Ahead (LE) is warmer. theBalm Sultry (P, $16.00) is similar. Urban Decay Secret Service (P, $18.00) is darker. Undone is described as a “deep, smoky brown matte.” It’s a dark brown with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had poorer color payoff, and it had a thinner, more powdery consistency that just didn’t apply well. I had trouble blending this shade with the others when I used it in the crease. It lasted for almost eight hours on me before fading. Tarte Don’t Turn A-Brown (LE) is darker. LORAC Cool Gray (P) is lighter, cooler-toned. Kat Von D Shadow Box (P) is darker. I prefer the original, because the colors span from really light to really dark. This one would probably be ideal for people who need a softer look with less contrast.
Whereas I’m the opposite-while I love the original, I need more mod-tone, matte neutrals in my arsenal. I have dozens of highlight/pale shades, and more than enough darker ones (besides, I typically put color in the crease/outer V), and of the mod-tone shades I do have, they run fairly dark on me. This palette is the solution to my transition/blending shade void.
precisely my thoughts~ This will be a perfect workhorse for me.
I use my naked basics so much, it is my everyday go to eyeshadows. I would like to try this one as soon as it hits the stores. I am a neutral eyeshadow kind of gal, I think this palette would be nice to have. Thank you Christine for another amazing review.
The thinner consistency of Skimp sounds a lot like the single I received once upon a time in a Sephora set. Always disliked the shade. I really like the third and fourth shades, and I’m hoping they come out with a nicer Naked 3 basics.
I liked it as a brow bone highlighter, since it buffs out nicely and leaves a soft sheen, but I was surprised at the difference in texture between the two I have.
Unfortunately I don’t think this is something I could invest in without seeing it in person… come on Sephora Australia!!
Becca is an Australian brand and has an amazing Nude Ombre palette out! You can gaze it online at sephora and find it, if you’re interested, in Australia! I have all UDs minus this one and the Becca just stands out!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you get a chance to see it! Otherwise, the Pulp Fiction palette from UD contains much better neutrals than this naked basics 2! In my opinion anyway….. Muah!
I was so excited before, but now disappointed in the lack of quality! Not something you usually see from UD eyeshadows.
The eyeshadows feel really soft, but they are powdery, so that’s kind of the downside, which does happen with some of the more blendable matte eyeshadows (in general) – it is a tough balancing act between soft, blendable, and pigmented without being powdery or dry. I think UD’s Pulp Fiction palette is an example where they really got that balance better.
I am a little disappointed because I really wanted that palette and I thought the colors looked beautiful but it looks like all the colors are pretty similar to each other.
It’s definitely a palette that I see working well with the Naked2 palette, but depending on your skin tone, just using the Naked2 Basics alone may run together. I feel like I have the worst skin tone for showing this palette, to be honest.
I am pretty pale so it might work with my complexion actually. And since I don’t have a lot of matte shadows I still consider getting it. And you’re right it would be great combined with other Naked palettes.
I totally disagree, You do not have the worst skintone for showing this, It just shows that it doesnt work as well for someone with your skintone which is informational and helpful to others.
I bought the first Naked Basic palette twice and returned the first one, and gave away the second. Just don’t like it. Don’t like any of the Naked palettes either… Maybe the third one? Returned the number 2, and never got the 1. This one is the one that most appeal to me in terms of being most useful, I think, but then I feel like I shouldn’t get it since I don’t really use palettes that much… Sigh…

I’m very fair-skinned, and I OFTEN struggle to find mid-tone shades in palettes that are light enough for me to use as all-over-lid shades. Everyone LOVES the original LORAC Pro pallete, and I agree that the quality is super and the shades are really pretty! But I have a hard time using it on its own because the mid-tone shades are just too dark for me.
That being said, I know a lot of people are over the “Naked” craze, and I totally get that – not very original! We’ve seen it before! But the mid-toned shades in this look SO usable for someone with my skin tone, and for that reason, I’m really excited about it and will probably pick it up!
Hey, if it works for you, that’s all that matters! 🙂 UD is a major brand, so I’m sure they do their market research and there are plenty of reasons that support releasing it.
This is going to be a pass, I doubt I’d reach for this more than the original Naked Basics.
The only shades that will work for me are the last 3 and these may tend to overlap against my skin tone. Still the hoarder in me wants to get the palette to complete the set of 3 naked palettes and the 1 basics. :sigh: 😉
I think it might be better used with the other Naked palettes rather than alone (it runs together on my skin tone, too), if it was something you really wanted!
I love the comparison picture. When this first came out I saw countless comments saying how the new palette was EXACTLY like the first one.
The idea is the same obviously but the shades couldn’t be more different and frankly I liked Naked Basics 2 much more. I’m even considering buying it something I never did with Naked Basics 1.
There’s definitely not a lot of overlap between the two Basics palette, though there are similar shades from UD over time!
Skimp has been in a few palettes – just the one I have as last in was from the Feminine palette 🙂
I’m not excited by this very much at all. Even being a cool-toned gal like myself, I can’t really get into such a palette. I think it’s misleading to call the original Naked Basics palette warm-toned when most of the shades were neutral at best. Like someone had mentioned in a previous comment, I wish they would do an even warmer matte small palette, with orange-peach-gold-reddish-brown colors, like ones popular from Makeup Geek right now (peach smoothie, cocoa bear, etc). However, I do think this palette would be a great companion to the Naked 2 palette, especially since the only real matte blending shade in that palette was Tease.
This one runs cooler than the original, though they’re both more neutral when I see them in person.
Try the Becca Nude Ombre palette! Swipe it! It’s not what it seems! The neutrals are blessed with the tints of shades you mentioned!! Sorry if I sound to be pimping it, not much has pleased me lately so I’m just quite keen on it. The heavier I swatched, the more it wowed me.. So beautiful. I got mine at Sephora but they well at Ulta too. 😀

Hmm that was a disappointing rating coming from UD eyeshadows. Looks like I’ll be skipping this one! Especially since I seem to already own a dupe for every shade! (Dream in Chocolate – Tarte, Get Ahead – bareMinerals, Naked 2 – UD, Peach for the Stars – Tarte, and Navy #1 – Lorac) #makeupaddict 😀

Interesting about Skimp – I have it in the Mariposa palette which, I think, pre-dates UD reformulating their shadows. Strange that it would be worse than its previous formulation (mind you, I don’t find the “new and improved” Maui Wowie to be any better than the original; I am now the proud owner of TWO pans of MW that I’ll probably never touch!)
Yes, surprisingly thinner, which is kind of the opposite of the reformulated shades in general (they all got denser, more buttery).
I have a lot of similar shades and these for me seem to be staples that everyone except those that are new to makeup will already have in their stash. Nice but I don’t need it and won’t be buying it.
Very true! It may/may not be something necessary if you already have a lot of matte neutrals in your stash!
The colors look very natural and pretty on you Christine. Very interested in this palette, but I want them to show up on my skin tone, which is probably a shade warmer than yours, otherwise I’ll pass.
It’s one of those palettes that will be amazing for some, less for others since skin tone is going to play such a huge role on whether you can get a few looks or a LOT of looks out of the palette.
I really like the look of the colors in the pans, even more so than the first Naked Basics (which I own). But, your rating is not really psyching me up to spend $29 lol.
Definitely check it out in person if you can, Ginny! The darkest shade was problematic, but the rest were on the powdery side which may not be a deal-breaker for you.

Humph. I am pretty disappointed with this release 🙁 I LOVED nakedbasics 1, but this looks like it’s lacking quality… also, with my yellowy skin tone I feel like these shades would turn to mud on my eyes.
They run together more than I’d like on my skin tone (NC25/NC30), so for me, I’d definitely have to incorporate it with other products to get better variation/contrast.

That last palette shot, with Venus etc, says Naked Basics 2…you mean 1 or the original rights?

I was surprised! The powderiness wasn’t entirely unexpected (particularly with the lighter shades), but I expected blendability to be a no-brainer.
I don’t know. I may just stick with wanting to be the first Basics in the future.

So it’s a “cool-toned” Nude palette, except that 4/5 of the shades are warmer toned. Right. Sure, that’s how it works. 9_9 The lighter payoff on Undone will make it more wearably for us fair folk
Speaking as somebody very cool-toned, Frisk, Undone, and Cover will likely pull cooler, but the rest will stand out as warm. Skimp will be very yellow, while Stark may be more wearably pink on cool complexions though it’ll be peachier. PASS. When the industry is ready to deliver a truly cool-toned palette, they can call me.
These seem more neutral to me – such that they’ll lean warmer against warmer complexions, slightly cooler against cooler complexions, but it’s not like I’m incapable of showing a cool-toned eyeshadow… as cool-toned, LOL! But if it sits too close too the middle, then it may lean warm.
It’s definitely cooler over all than the last one, don’t get one wrong. I’m just venting my frustration that palettes get sold as “cool” when they’re more often neutral or mixed with warm tones, ala the recent MAC ones. It wouldn’t bother me so much if I wasn’t for the fact that I love UD’s formula and am completely in sad panda mode over how completely unflattering the Naked line is on me. 😛
That’s why UD should sell pan refills and do some sort of bulk or pan discount so you could build your own freakin’ cool-toned neutral palette!
I actually did that with their little insert palette with some of the cooler shades from the line, but it was a bummer because I basically paid 3x the cost of the Naked Basics palettes to create a four shade palette. I grumpy panda-ed my way through every purchase for that one (even though I admittedly use the heck out of it). 😛
I’m not a fan of their pricing/structure of BYOP 🙁 Little incentive to buy singles or a palette with the way it works!
That’s how UD makes money, LOL! I, personally, look at larger palettes as “samplers”, and even if I don’t use *every* shade, I still see the value in it. I think that’s also the intention of the brand (all of them, not just UD), to give you “essential” shades in a large palette, and the consumer fills the “voids” with singles. Still, I also think the singles can be a bit cheaper!
I have them all and never ever reach for them! Wasted money!!!! I just got my Becca Nudes Ombre Palette and that’s the only one I wish I had. Why not try it out? I hope you find it brings you happy panda. 🙂 @Christine I understand why the review is null 🙂 *Hugs*
– I think perhaps it might be interesting if there was a federal regulated eyeshadow size so that all could fit in the same palettes.,, hmm., no. That’s not fun. The Tarte naturals looked gorgeous in their matte collection but I’ve not seen in person.
Just cross your fingers that the major brands don’t bring out any 15+ eyeshadow palettes for the next month!

I’ve yet to try the Becca line, so thank you for the recommendation! It’s not that I don’t love the neutrals I own, but it would be nice to have a workhorse palette that was sturdy enough to lug around with me to and from work. With the z-palettes I’ve put together, I get afraid of jostling them too much.
I’m always curious about this… My sister & I have the total opposite experience! She is fair with warm, golden tones, while I am very fair with very definite cool, pink/blue undertones…if we try the same colors, she pulls out all the cool tones, while I pull out all the warm tones in a color…for instance, if we try a purple toned lipstick, it will look very purple, almost gray leaning on her, while I will pull out the pinks. Brown eye shadows will often look almost plummy on her, but I will pull out all the yellow & orange shades tones…which make me look sickly! There is absolutely no doubt that I am cool & she is warm… Wonder why this happens for us? I WISH I could pull the cool tones out of these colors!!!
Very interesting! I’m not sure why it does that. It might be over-tones? But I don’t really know.
Hair and eye color plays a major factor in how colors look. I’m fair and very cool (I literally only have yellow in my skin when I have a “tan”), and my (natural) hair color is ash brown. These tend to work to pull out all the pink and gray tones in face products. However, my eyes are more of a neutral-chocolate brown, so I find that when I wear warmer products on the eyes without offsetting them with a cooler shade, it really pulls out the yellow and orange, which clashes with my skintone. My lips have the same issue since I can wear pretty much any red or vampy shade, regardless of undertone, but nudes and pinks are a pain to find because it has to be very cool else it pulls orange on me.
(I also notice that I have to change my makeup with my hair. I recently went from black/brown to platinum blonde, and I’m definitely having to switch out some of my basics!)
Er, hit enter too fast. What I mean to say is that while Undone will make it a more useable palette for us fair folk, I think that makes it less versatile for darker skinned women. While it has more shade selection, the combined look is lighter in shading overall since they don’t have Crave and Frisk to mix and darken the others.
I wish it was more blendable, because that was really, really frustrating.
Ohhhhh Christine!!!!!!!! Girl, you’ve GOT to get Becca’s Ombre Nude Pallette!!! The colors are GORGEOUS for you! SUEDE BABY… It’s great, and first thing I thought upon searching after oohing and Ahhing is wow.. This is totally something perfect for Christine! The colors so suitable! Please try and review?! I’d love your thoughts!!!!!! Side note: my organization is similar to a junkyard yet I know where things are. It’s heinous. But they’re organized in the containers thst create the junkyard.. I did reach out to Becca, but no dice – I have about 75 palettes *right now* that I need to review, so I’m trying to hold off on buying any permanent palettes until I actually make some sort of dent in that pile 🙁

That’s just the recent stuff… like summer/fall 🙁 A lot of it is photographed and tested, but the reviews take a lot longer to write (more dupes to get).
More “I’m so overwhelmed” than a real complaint – I keep trying to see if there’s a way to change how I review palettes so I can review more/review faster!
Maybe an assistant can help, unless you already have one..
Oh, or maybe you can do quickie reviews for most palettes, like a rating and one paragraph, and then do proper reviews for the really popular new releases
Take your time, don’t get stressed out. I love your reviews, these days I’m almost addicted to them 🙂 We all know that there are a gazillion launches every year. I think you manage to revies the more hyped ones so quickly it’s amazing. And for me it’s a real money saver as well. At least some of the times.
@Lotus Do the Becca shadows run warm? I’m interested in the palette, but can’t find it in stores, and the only “review” I’ve found online is a video, and she just refers to them as “neutrals”, “basic”, & “everyday shades”, and being a video, the colors are hard to read…
Hello!! OMG swatches are HARD TO FIND!!! I looked EVERYWHERE! On some sites, the palette appeared so orangey, and on others, washed out Stoney cools.. But my knowledge of Becca is only the BEST. So I dove blindly. It recently arrived and I was so curious and nervous…
1. SLEEK & GREAT SIZED WELL MADE palette with a GREAT feel!
2. The COLORS: Although I own every UD naked palette, I never reach for them!!! I WISH I had waited. THIS BECCA IS ALL ANYONE NEEDS! It will blend to create myriad shades!!! NOT WARM OR COOL, as one review swatches and explains.. NO.
These colors are MAGIC. They each almost like..adjust to the skin and are COMPLEX UNIQUE shades containing numerous skin tones within each shade! They bend with the light! They are NOT matte, frosty, shimmery, glittery, totally satin or velvet!!! They are like SKIN and OMG so BEAUTIFUL!!! At first I searched lightly and wasn’t too impressed, but then I was like, no, I know Becca is better. Try again. So I did, giving skin ample room and really swatched with love and got my cell phone flashlight on them and I died! I did exclaim, “No way….wow…!, and was just blown away.
I hope I’ve answered your question! I think these will be individualized to adapt to EVERY skin, and yes, haha, I saw that video. She said two were a taupe as well. HAHA. (Sorry)
These are an EXPERIENCE I feel. They can only truly be seen in person but I guarantee you will LOVE THEM! If not, kill me. But I’m telling you in molting right now, face is having issues, I’m in the summer with a cold and stomach flu, I got your response by email, and all I could do instead of rest is come back here to answer you properly! I went through that same wondering phase and I still look for research and have found nothing close to what I can share with you. So I felt it’s my duty. I can go into depth about every color but oh man, it’s just not the same as seeing them for yourself! Sooo unique!!!!!! What a deal…. Muah!
It’s been sitting in my Sephora “basket” all week-I’m just waiting for Moonstone (pressed) to come back in stock… I was going to just buy it blindly, as well, but as soon as I was going to pull the trigger, Moonstone sold out that quickly! I love all (well, most) neutrals, so I think it’ll be a safe buy! Thanks!
Both Basics 1 & 2 look the same to me. Now if they come out with a Basics 3 that is aligned with the Naked3 palette I might have to purchase. I wonder if that is in the works….hmmm
While I admit I’m a bit disappointed in the darker shade, and I already have Skimp (from 2 palettes, I believe…), this palette will be worth the investment for the other 4 shades. Even with 4, the price balances out to $7.50/shadow, which is still 1/3 of a single!
Hopefully, sometime in the future, UD will release the 3 mid-tone shades as singles. I see myself going through those, and while it would be cheaper to just buy a new palette, I’d like to depot them and put them in a 4-pan palette along with Secret Service, for travelling.
I hope so, too. Frisk and Cover are two shades that would be a welcome addition to the line that’s short on matte neutrals.
That’s kind of how I felt about the first Basics, because I use black eyeshadow so rarely, any new addition with a black is just a pan I won’t use.
However, this one, with its dark brown being terrible, seems more disappointing because I would’ve used that shade. Even though I wouldn’t have batted an eye at buying it with another wasted black, if I’d liked the shades.
I always find it so amazing how colors pull differently. I’ve seen this look really warm, cool, and on you pretty much dead neutral!
I’m not strongly warm-toned, which might be why! I’m not neutral either, but I’m closer to neutral than super warm, I guess I’d say…
Eh, I had high hopes for Frisk. On another hand, I’m kinda glad to see that Cover doesn’t read reddish like its official description.

I might swatch it in-store if my Sephora gets the palette close to the Sephora online release. Otherwise, it’s a pass. I’d rather build a 4- or 5-pan Inglot palette. (The Freedom System’s empty palette itself is overpriced though.)

I have Naked and Naked2 which I love, but Naked Basics had to go back to the store. I spent 3 months trying to make the colors a) show up and b) last with mostly no luck. This palette looks similar enough that I’d be nervous to buy it.

I liked this until I saw it on you Christine. It looks so light, as if you aren’t wearing anything. You can barely see them on your skin.

Honestly I don’t think it would look great on a NC15 either… I really don’t think skin tone matters that much when swatching as long as you have good light it’s pretty easy to imagine what it would look like on your own skintone, everyone knows their own skintone! It’s a bit of a copout saying that about swatches done different skin tones
I remember once ages ago i saw a poster say to Christine can’t she get all of her swatches on light skin as well (lol makes me laugh with the sheer volume of swatches you do, you’d have to like buy a person haha im weird) Anyway thats not what Makeuptray was implying but just made me remember
For the most part, I think you can definitely use your imagination, but some shades – like the ones that are near-matches for my skin tone, are just harder to see because the “background” (my skin) is so similar. It’s kind of like trying to swatch a white eyeshadow on white paper – just harder to see! So most of the time it’s totally fine, but it is more apparent with half of this palette.
We tried to use my husband’s (then-boyfriend) arm to meet that request, but he’s not that much lighter than me, so it wasn’t worth it. Even with him being easily accessible, it was still a total PITA, since I’d have interrupt him all the time. I tried, but it wasn’t feasible, LOL!
I volunteer as a tribute! Hahaha xD I’m NC 15 but my underarm is almost white as a wall. That said, I still think this palette is good for fair people, but anyone medium to dark skinned isn’t going to enjoy much of it, or that’s what it seems.
And now I regret checking this review out because I’m s tempted to buy it but also because those last three shades remind me of a hot chocolate mix I bought but can’t try right now because tomorrow I’m going to a lab to have some blood taken for a few tests :/
Definitely not feasible! the darker shades are nice in this but i just feel like the light half of the palette, with the shadows being powdery wouldn’t make much of an impact on my nw20 skin tone either
They are good blending shades if not stand alone ones though, and look at all the discussion it’s gotten here- thats pretty cool lol
Not sure how I feel about this one. I LOVE the first Basics and use it almost daily. But the problem I have with most palettes is that there never seems to be a good matte medium skin tone lid shade. W.O.S. and Foxy in the first one are just a bit light (have the same problem with the Lorac Pro palette too). I was interested in the Pulp Fiction palette, but the lighter shades are going to be more like highlighting shades. I’m thinking this palette is going to be the same, but will definitely have to check it out in person.
It’s worth checking out in person if you’re in the market for these types of mattes, but it may or may not work out – I think this is more skin tone specific than some other products.
I think it’s a pretty palette and as a primarily neutral wearer, it is up my alley. But since I own Naked Basics, IT Naturally Pretty Matte Palette, Viseart Neutral Matte Palette as well as a host of others with pretty neutrals, I guess I’ll pass on this one, pretty though it is

I´ll pass…they look too similar…this palette doesn’t even have any warm tone…(at least the original had one, but it was a light shade anyways… disappointing…)..idk why UD keeps bringing cool tones after cool tones……they need more warm tones….im so disappointed…
This is supposed to be cooler-tones – one of the most common complaints from readers is how warm-toned UD’s palettes are so they keep trying to answer those complaints!
Disappointing that some of the shades received lower ratings. I just always feel like UD can do better than put out palettes (especially permanent palettes!!) that have eyeshadows with C ratings. Will be passing.

How often do you use the Basics palette? Do you long for lighter or cooler shades at all? The quality is not so fantastic that it approaches a NEED level unless you really see yourself reaching for shades from it often.
I’m really wanting this one because while I love the first one (and use it often), the first three shades are highlight shades for me and the other three kind of leave me at a moot point. I’m loving the idea of incorporating the two of them together!
Yay! They are designed to work together, though obviously you can use them as standalone palettes, too! 😀
Hmm… I think I’ll give it a try since I hit pan on 4 shadows of my naked1 basics (foxy, w.o.s, naked2 & faint) and my beloved naked2 definitely lacks a nice matte crease clour. I hope it will work for me, but since I’m really fair (with my current ‘tan’ I matches mac nc15) it should show up on me… Okay I’m just trying to justify buying this pallet and resisting isn’t easy, especially because urban decay will be sold in a store in my city soon (finally us German girls can get some naked pallets without driving to France or ordering it from the UK).

Brown eyes are very versatile, so either one would work with them. I would say it’s probably more of a skin tone/under tone thing.
I like Cover, Frisk and Undone – I don’t own a Naked Basics palette, and I’m not entirely sure I really need this one, but I do like that they came out with a cool*er*-toned one specifically. Maybe I should say ‘more neutral toned’ 😉 Hehe, I also see that Frisk and Cover are duped-ish in Naked 2, and Undone is duped in both the Tarte palettes I own 😀
…it’s so tempting somehow, though! As other commenters have noted, it’s kind of hard to find many palettes that have lots of lightweight/midtone browns that aren’t really warm. It’s so easy to go overboard when you’re a vampire, LOL! Maybe I’m just a UD junkie – I do wish it had rated a little better on consistency however…

i like the first basics, but i never got it coz i have enough light and dark neutrals… but i really like this one for the reasons another reader said, coz i don’t have enough “mid tone” neutrals. hopefully they’ll show up on me but it’s still something i definitely want to look at in store first before getting!
Another palette where half the colours will either not show up or all look exactly the same on my skin? Eh, I think I’ll continue not buying the Naked line.

Some might argue that the very best “natural” (or Naked) look is where it accentuates but doesn’t look like you’re wearing a lot of makeup! 😉 Unfortunately, I have light-medium skin so some of these, while they are by no means sheer, are similar to my natural skin tone.
I have a few of the dupes you listed, so I’ll just add some more to my neutral palette and not buy this one. It did, and still do appeal to me, though as the colours are among my favourite neutrals. If we had UD here it would probably be different, it’s easie to decide between colours when you can actually swatch them.
I actually can’t understand why Sephora here don’t carry UD. They did at teh very first week or so after they opened, I bought Naked 2 and their primer then. Oh, well, some money saved and that’s a good thing.
I’m super disappointed by this palette. The colors are so similar that they look like that would run all together. If Urban Decay was smart, they would have made this palette a true WARM toned palette being that the first one was cool toned too.
First one wasn’t really cool-toned, IMO – at most, neutral, but it wasn’t cool-toned. Most find the first one warmer!
This would be an amazing compliment to my original Naked Basics, my Naked Palettes and pretty much every palette I own because of matte shades, with that one and the first one I’m pretty much set up for blending colors and such. I just love it and I’m so getting it on August 28th.

I prefer Basics 1 to 2. I think the shade range is more diverse. Could just be they one is literally a grouping of my fave basic shades. I like the colours in 2 though and that both are all matte, .

Just like how I’d wish they’d do more variety and release other colory versions of palettes in the Naked 2/Naked 3 packaging, I have to say I love the Basics packaging! UD, make some non-Naked 6-pans in this packaging, it’s great.
I use Naked Basics so much more than I ever thought I would, but half of that use is blending the lighter three colors with the Electric palette, part of it is using Faint occasionally in my brows, so I don’t see myself picking up this one.
I love how compact and streamlined the Basics packaging is, too!

I kept hearing that this was a cooler toned version of Basics 1, which surprised me because it looked mostly warm toned to me, and your review seems to have confirmed that! Interesting that this is the “cooler” palette and you only describe one shade as cool toned, 4 as warm toned, and one as peachy. I love Basics 1, so I was thinking about getting this, but I’m going to hold off.

It’s definitely cool-toned palette. I never wanted to buy it and swatches it in store just for interest, but ended out buying it and now I’m in love with it.
I’m cool-toned girl and warm colors do not suit my eyes. In this palette only 2 can be said to be warm(stark and cover) but I would say they are rather neutral, cause they suit my eyes well and become cooler when applied. All other colors are cool.
I bought this, less as a companion to Naked 2 (which I do own) but more to work in with my Electric Palette and some of the colors in a build-your-own palette I have that don’t always play well together. I’m excited to be able to create more looks with both!

I bought it yesterday at Sephora, but I have to say, the color undone is so so powdery, I barely touched the brush on it and yesss powder every where!

an EXACT dupe for Primal is Makeup Forever (original eyeshadow formula) grey beige 165. I have that colour and I just can’t justify buying this palette now cause I also have something similar to undone and stark…
