Cryptocurrency - How to avoid being scammed/hacked

We would like to provide you with some important information on this topic so that you can use it as a resource in the future and refer to it when you help others.

1 - Never connect your wallet to unknown Dapps!

If you don't know the Dapp, research all the information about it online. Search for the name, website, company name etc. You can also also look for information on platforms such as Reddit, Twitter or Discord.

You want to know more about Dapps and want to know what Dapp stands for? Find this information in our knowledge base under Terminologies.

2 - Check the url before connecting to a known Dapp!

You can easily check the URL in your browser by copying it and entering it into Google.

Add a " in front of the URL and Google will display the search results for it. Example:

You will then usually find information about it very quickly if the URL is wrong.

3 - Do not click on any links, or any suspicious links!

It is important to always be attentive to links and not to simply click and use them. Protect yourself against this by first querying them via a Google search.

4 - Never give out your wallet password and your seed phrase!

In our tutorial "How to buy Auxilium Finance Tokens", we point out several times how important it is to protect your password and your seed phrase. Write your passwords on a piece of paper, copy it and keep it safe at home. Do not save your password on your cell phone, phone notes, or computer. Malicious software could be on your device and detect this data.

5 - Keep information about your balance and your wallet address to yourself!

Do not share your balance or wallet address with anyone. No reputable provider will ask you about it. If you need a new address, you can create one at Metamask or Trust Wallet at any time. This new address has no balance and you can then share this if there is an obvious reason for it.

6 - Messages from "Support Staff" are scammers!

Many scammers like to romp around on platforms such as Telegram or Twitter who pretend to be the support of the respective project. These people then write to you unsolicited via a direct message and ask if they can help? In no case do not get involved. These are obviously scammers, as support members usually never write to you first.

7 - If you get a small or large amount of a random token (dusting), do not sell it.

There are so-called malicious smart contracts. As soon as you try to sell the unknown or random token, you grant unlimited authorization which enables the smart contract to spend all of your money. Just ignore those tokens and you will be safe. You can check and remove current authorizations with Beefy Finance: https://community.trustwallet.com/t/how-to-quickly-see-revoke-the-bsc-addresses-authorised-to-spend-your-tokens-with-trust-wallet/82564

8 - If you think you may have compromised your wallet, create a new wallet ASAP!

Create a new wallet and transfer your balance to the new wallet. Please note that a transfer fee has to be paid depending on the token provider. With Auxilium Finance Tokens this is 10%.
