A married mother from Missouri is facing a child endangerment charge after police said she was photographed topless in a hot tub along with her half-naked 14-year-old daughter.
The 50-year-old woman, of Wentzville, is not being named to protect her daughter's identity.
The photo that landed the mother in trouble with the law was taken November 14 with the 14-year-old's phone by her sister, according to charging documents.
Parent trap: A married Missouri mother, 50 (pictured), has been charged with child endangerment for allegedly posing topless along with her 14-year-old daughter in their hot tub
Crime scene: The woman claimed that she was getting out of this hot tub when she spotted her other daughter snapping a picture, which she then told her to delete
The topless snapshot was posted on the social media app SnapChat and was circulated around two high schools in the Rockwood School District.
St Charles County Prosecutor Tim Lohmar told St Louis Post-Dispatch that 50-year-old woman told police she had no idea her topless shot will be distributed online.
The woman's son goes to one of the schools where students saw the image on SnapChat, and he was subjected to ridicule by his classmates over the picture, authorities said.
According to Lohmar, it is clear that the mother and her teenage daughter were posing for the photo: both were covering their nipples, but their breasts were exposed.
According to the Wentzville Police Department, the 14-year-old girl last year had 'court mandated counseling' for taking nude photos of herself and circulating them around her school.
The 50-year-old mother could face up to a year in prison if convicted of misdemeanor child endangerment.
Disseminated: The topless snapshot was posted on the social media app SnapChat and circulated around two high schools
When a reporter from the station KMOV caught up with the mother at her home on Winding Creek Drive, the woman insisted she had no intention of posing topless with her underage daughter.
'I wasn't posing, I was getting out of the tub,' she said.
According to the mom, she saw her other daughter snap the picture and ordered her to delete it, but instead the X-rated print ended up on the popular social media app that allows users to share content that disappears after a few seconds.
‘This is an example of some extremely poor judgment by a parent,’ Lohmar said.

She has been dazzling with her fashion choices during the promotional tour for her new film, Wonder Woman.
But Connie Nielsen suffered a serious wardrobe malfunction on Wednesday, when she accidentally flashed crowds outside the AOL building in NYC .
The actress, 51, gave onlookers a glimpse of her derriere as she went underwear free in her chiffon red dress - which awkwardly whipped up in the wind as she signed autographs for fans.
Blunder Woman! Connie Nielsen suffered a serious wardrobe malfunction on Wednesday, when she accidentally flashed crowds outside the AOL building in NYC
The Danish beauty looked stunning in her chic red shirt dress, which featured a statement cut out sleeve and trendy mixed-length hem.
However the flippy skirt soon caused things to go awry during the actress' appearance, when it blew up in a gust of wind - accidentally revealing her bare posterior and legs underneath.
Yet, Connie seemed completely unfazed by the incident as she continued to pose confidently for cameras - showing off her look for all to see, and putting the blunder behind her.
No cares: Yet, Connie seemed completely unfazed by the incident as she continued to pose confidently for cameras - showing off the stunning chiffon dress with its statement sleeve
The actress had a bit of a Marilyn Monroe moment while greeting fans in New York but we shall skim over her accidental flashing and scoot right over to her incredible dress. We don't know about you but we're obsessed!
By one of our favourite new designers Magda Butrym, this beauty has got it all. A rich shade of red, a sexy asymmetric hemline, frills and a cold shoulder cut out. Swoon. If we had a spare £1325 we'd be placing our order now.
Sadly we do not... But if you're feeling flush and have fallen for this scarlet dream then click (right) to snap it up at Harvey Nichols. Styling it couldn't be easier. It's super versatile and will look as killer with tough girl ankle boots as it does with Connie's thigh highs or even a pair of slinky high heel sandals.
But don't worry if the price is out of your budget. We've found some more rocking reds with frills, dipped hems and cold shoulders that'll give you the look for less.

The redhead exuded glamour as she beamed for cameras in the frock, which she paired with sexy thigh-high boots of black suede to elongate her already leggy figure.
While she carried a classically chic beige handbag, the Gladiator star then accessorised with dramatic gold earrings which hung in the shape of a sword, to add a trendier touch to her look.
Leaving her hair in tousled waves and adding a subtle smoky eye and peach lip, the mother-of-two displayed her natural beauty and enviably youthful complexion as she posed ahead of the talk at AOL.

Connie is currently promoting her new film Wonder Woman, alongside co-stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine and director Patty Jenkins.
However, the press tour is now only taking place in the States, after the European premiere was cancelled due to the terror attack in Manchester on Monday.
The team were due to walk the red carpet in London's Leicester Square on Wednesday, but Warner Bros cancelled the event out of respect for the Manchester Arena victims, following the suicide bombing at Ariana Grande's concert, which killed 22 people.
A Warner Bros spokesperson told MailOnline: 'Our thoughts are with those affected by the recent tragedy in the UK.

'In light of the current situation, we will not be proceeding with our plans for the Wonder Woman premiere and junket activities in London.'
The US premiere is instead set to take place in Los Angeles on Thursday night.
The superhero film, based on the DC Comics, tells the story of Wonder Woman before she discovered the full extent of her powers, and was living as Diana, princess of the Amazons and a trained warrior.
Israeli actress Gal plays the title role, while Connie stars as her mother Queen Hippolyta in the superhero flick, which is out on June 1.

The watchdog claimed the magazine, owned by Emap, had been guilty of a "serious breach" of its code of practice, after the girl was published in a gallery of mobile snapshots provided by readers of the magazine.
Parents of the girl complained to the PCC saying the photograph had been taken in 2005, when their daughter was just 14, after it was published in April this year.
The regulator claimed that pictures had been a "serious intrusion" into the teenager's privacy and had significantly affected her emotionally at school.
It also said that the magazine's failure to respond more quickly had "aggravated" the breach in rules and that it had not taken proper steps to establish the provenance of the picture.
FHM said that it received approximately 1,200 photographs for publication each week from or on behalf of women posing topless or in lingerie, according to the PCC.
The magazine told the PCC it was extremely surprised to learn that the photograph was taken when the complainants' daughter was 14 years old as she appeared to be older.
FHM said it had no reason to believe that the image was taken without her consent.
The magazine had been informed that the complainants' daughter was in a cohabiting relationship with the person who submitted the photograph and no further enquiries about the image were made, the PCC said.
FHM said it had introduced new measures to ensure that the situation would not occur again.
It confirmed that the image would not be republished or syndicated and offered to write a private letter of apology to the complainant.
