Pagudpud boasts of a wide variety of beaches that can easily rival the best in the world. Pagudpud is fast becoming known as the ideal location for sailing, surf boarding and other aqua sports. Rice paddies, quiet farmlands, forested hills as well as nipa forests are joined near the coast by a picturesque viaduct that extends all the way to Cagayan province. The nipa palms grow to greater heights than elsewhere in the country. Motoring along the national road linking Ilocos Norte to Cagayan province is one of the most pleasant activities in Pagudpud. Instead of blasting a way through solid rock, the Ilocanos opted to build a wonderful causeway that hugs the mountains and extends out to the sea. Built on sturdy pylons, the causeway provides motorists degree views of some of the most dramatic land and seascapes along the Philippine highway system. The end of the causeway does not end the scenic route. This wonderful stretch of highway gently undulates with the mountains as it continues skirting the coast. Visitors experience the rainforest and the beach at the same time. On the way back to the town proper from the boarder, visitors may cool themselves at three small waterfalls that cascade down the side of a mountain right where the highway curves into a canyon. This wondrous place is known as Paraiso ni Anton. The cool water is believed to have healing powers and visitors often come ready with small bottles to keep the water. A few meters away from the falls is a stretch of stalls that sell fruits, native delicacies and small trinkets to travelers. Still farther on, closer to Saud, in Sitio Tienes, is a row of stalls where visitors can buy the catch of the day. The Pagudpud waters yield a variety of fish, lobster, and octopus perfect for a barbecue picnic. Take a leisurely hike to Kaibigan Falls, Located in Barangay Balaoi, Kaibigan Falls is a series of cascades that tumble down a mountainside.
